"Drath? His name is Drath!" P'an yelled, more surprised then anything. He looked at the hatchling's eyes, a little worried that he still had to jump away. Drath looked back and the world swirled all different colors around the edges as he felt Drath's strength merge with his.
"They'll give us food and help with that cut back there" Drath had the most beautiful eyes. He'd never really liked dragons eyes before. How strange. "Come on. My friends and your hatch mates are back there." Carefully he walked beside the clumsy hatchling, trying not to worry about the fragile wings that Drath definitely did not have under control.

"Congratulations Pilan," Wolf said under her breath as she clapped for the boy. Once again, she didn't know this boy that well but she was glad to see him have impressed. She had a feeling that not only did he deserve it but he would make a fine rider. How many people did she know up on the hatching sands now other then Hasima and Jakel? She didn't allow herself to become convinced that she wouldn't impress. Thinking like that wasn't worth it, especially if something did end up happening. If and when her partner hatched the last thing she wanted was thoughts of negativity passing to the dragonet.

Rhia was going to Orynth when she saw P'lan coming with his reddish beige brown. She had seen the hatchling cut himself. She waved to the dragonhealer waiting by. The brownrider knew dragonhealing. She had to learn to become Weyrlingmaster but she had other things to tend to.
She hurried to the table and grabbed a bowl full of meat gobblets. "Feed him while the dragon healer works on him. What is his name? How have you decided to contract your name?"

Jakel clapped at the next impressions. He noticed that the candidate numbers and the egg number were dwindling, but it didn't bother him in the slightest. He looked back to the sands with the same excitment as when he first arrived.

"He says he is Drath. The cut is small, right? It stings more then it hurts I think, but its confusing feeling it as well as seeing it."
Carefully he fed Drath a bit of meat, sternly warning him to eat it carefully and to not bite his own tongue. "I thought P'lan? look at the red on his wings. Isn't that nice looking?" Shards he sounded completely smitten. he gave her a sheepish grin.
"Sorry. I usually make more sense when I talk, but I don't usually talk while I'm eating meat."

The next egg to hatch was the Jade egg. Everyone in the stands were expecting a green like the egg, but that was not to be. The dragon had jade markings in swirls along its hide, but it was a bright, dark blue. The jade swirls stood out starkly on the blue's hide. The dragonet looked like it would grow to a medium-sized blue. His hide shone with jewel-like brilliance. Almost immediately after the blue made its appearance, the void egg began to rock. The dragonet was alive after all. The smooth black shell cracked neatly in half, revealing a dragonet smaller even than Orylith. This dragonet was another mutant, one that had never been seen before in Dark Moon. She was a pale, creamy yellow. Her hide rippled a bright sheen. The edges of her wings were a bit darker. She was a gorgeous little thing even though she was tiny. She shook herself out, spreading out her wings to let them dry. Her voice was sweet even though the message she called out was one of voracious hunger. Christae let out a triumphant shout. "The egg is okay! The hatchling lives!" Kaith echoed her rider's shout with a roar of her own. The two dragonets on the sands cringed until their mother reassured them that she was happy to see them. Sorcha's fate would be a bit less severe than it would have been had the dragonet not hatched safely. The blue puffed up his chest. His mother was pleased with him he walked with a jaunty gait. The little yellow was a bit meeker. She walked forward daintily. The crowd fell silent from the comotion that had ensued when the stolen egg had hatched safely. The dark blue egg was still sitting on the sands with holes in its surface. The dragonet seemed a bit shy about emerging. Kaith crooned encouragement to her hatchlings and the dragons resumed their humming.

Hasima's head snapped towards the jade egg and she watched with amazement as the dark blue appeared. She was expecting a green dragonet that was for sure. Her breath caught in her throat as she marvelled at the markings that littered the dark blue. But when the egg that was stolen, even the slow Hasima knew about that, began to shake and crack her attention turned to it.
The yellow hide of the dragonet stunned Hasima, it looked so bright and fragile. It seemed odd something like that would hatch from an egg that was the colour of the darkest black anyone had ever seen. She watched the lovely yellow dragon before her eyes wandered to the dark blue egg.
Oh how there was so many things to look at. And it was hard to decide which one to look at, each one was beautiful.

The blue almost pranced as he studied the remaining Candidates. He didn't seem concerned that the number of Candidates had dwindled. He passed the girls with a flick of his tail and then went to the two remaining boys. He studied them both for a while and then dismissed one of them.
J'kel, your Jorath has arrived. I wish to be fed if you please. His tone was as jaunty as his walk. The swirls of jade on his hide gleamed brightly.

It was like deja vu for Hasima, something in her just snapped like it did with R'xis. Jakel, well J'kel had Impressed. Hasima's eyes grew bright with glee and she was just able to control herself from jumping up and down as she clapped happily. "Congratulations J'kel." She said, unsure if the boy heard her or not. She turned to Wolf, her eyes dancing in joy, "Thanks Wolf.", she said in reply to Wolf saying she would Impress. "I'm glad that Jakel Impressed." She confided in Wolf with a nod. In the background she could hear Akki cheer her lungs out. Yes, the blue rider was quite happy that J'kel Impressed. Especially a blue, Akki always pictured her candidate friend with a blue dragon.

Yet another egg began to hatch and still the dragonet in the dark blue egg remained hidden behind its shell. This one was the tropical seas egg and this time, the egg hatched out the color that everyone had expected. This dragon was a large, strapping green. She would be pretty, but not delicate like some greens. She would grow to be almost as large as Nira's Siarath. The green was a pale green with streaks of blue, purple and red throughout her hide. She looked like she could hide underwater in the tropical seas of the Southern Continent and blend in perfectly.

Khaliall leaned forwards in the stands, eyeing the hatchlings on the sands with intense awe. She was impressed more and more with each hatchling, if possible. With each dragonet that hatched, she wondered increasingly if they would let her stand as a candidate at the next clutch. The number of candidates was continually decreasing, and she knew that the eggs were too. Despite her knowledge and pleasure of Tavril's (probably T'vril, now) Impression, she couldn't help but wonder what she would do now. After all, Khaliall was rather outside of the close-knit group of Candidates. Leaning forwards, she reflectively propped her chin in her hand, and tilted her head. It really was amazing to watch all of these eggs hatch and the dragons Impress... How astounding it must be to actually be down there on the sands. Khaliall decided that, since she might not ever get to a Hatching again, she ought to remember this one especially well.

While everyone was focused on the other eggs, the tiger's eye egg, the 6th egg clutched, decided it was time. In a great shower of egg-shards, it simply exploded, revealing a large, unmistakably bronze, dragonet. This boy was the larger bronze hatchling of the two, and would grow to be almost as big as his sire. All over his hide, the bronze was tinged with red; the lightest hue was on his head and neck, and it became darker as one moved down his body, until the tip of his tail, which was black, as were the top edge of his wings. He cried out, attempting a bugle but succeeding in only a creel of hunger, and extended his wings, flapping them to dry them. They shimmered, not from the wetness, but from the speckles of gold and brown that flecked them. He was not happy. He was hungry, and without further delay, he made a beeline for the remaining male Candidate. P'rin, you will feed your Kilzanth now, he demanded. I am hungry.

Wolf watched as the Jade egg rocked back and forth, for sure she had thought it would be a female Green but instead it had hatched in to a Male Blue. She looked at the proud little hatchling in astonishment. Wolf watched as the black-void egg began to rock also, it was alive! 'What, a mutant!' Wolf thought to herself as a tiny yellow dragonet came tumbling from the egg. She studied there appearance's like she had all the rest of the hatchlings. Wolf watched the pair of hatchlings uncertainly. 'Females can impress males,' she reminded herself, having forgotten for the latter part of the hatching. As the Blue headed over to Jakel she felt tears begin to well up in her eyes, brushing them away with the sleeve of her Candidate robe. "I'm so happy for him," she said to Hasima in that whiny voice that most used when they had trouble getting out words beyond tears. "He deserved this just as much as anyone here," she said, looking right at Hasima. She wanted to get in to when she had first met Jakel but she couldn't she knew, not now.
Her heart began to beat in her chest as a Green hatchling had hatched while she had been focusing on Jakel. 'It's beautiful also,' she thought as she looked from it to the yellow dragonet. The sound of her heart beating became louder in her head, nearly drowning out all other sounds. 'What if Hasima was wrong?' she thought to herself, 'what if I don't impress?' Almost all of her friend's had impressed now and here she stood, among the girl's Candidate's, feeling more alone then she had ever felt.
When ever she felt highly emotional memories of her life came back to her, and it did now. She thought of her older brother somewhere in the world of Pern and all her friend's at Dark Moon she had made. 'You promised you'd be here Roxis, you promised.' She wiped away more tears that streamed down her face, looking over at Hasima nervously. She hoped the girl didn't notice the redness to her eyes. She tried to remember her once so vibrant strength. 'You promised...' she thought again, wondering if her entire sleeve would be soaked by the time the water works ended. She sure hoped not! She struggled to not crumple then and there like some kind-of cry baby, standing tall despite the watery vision she now bared. She linked arms with Hasima, feeling better by the action. She knew that Hasima would keep her on the border of sanity by just being there...
OOC| Gushy, I know, sorreh guys! I tried not to but in real life if I was at a hatching and waiting to impress I probably would cry! xD Yes, I do suck.

Hasima watched as tears ran down Wolf's face, leaving a trail of glistening water on her cheeks. She didn't know what made her do what she did next, nor did it matter to her right now. Even though Hasima was slow, mentally and phsyically, some things reached her and made her react right away.
It didn't matter who Impressed what right now, not in her mind, she could see who got what dragon as their equal later. Her friend needed her it seemed. Without saying anything, without asking, she wrapped her arms around Wolf and didn't let go for what seemed like an eternity even though it was just a few moments. "I promise you'll Impress." She said, stepping back from the girl. There was a look of determination in her eyes, faint but it was still there. Was Hasima slowly coming out of her shell, her barrier, her bubble? She didn't know how she would keep that promise, but she would. Some how.
Ooc|| I love the fact they just had their own little moment in the middle of this huge event xD It makes it seem like something like that would happen in real life x)

The little yellow greeted her clutch-sister with a bugle. She was a sweet little dragonet and she deserved a rider that was as sweet as she was. She walked forward. There were only two females left and she had to have a girl. Perhaps someone in the sands? No, hers was here!
Hasima your Rimath is here. You are my beloved rider! Can I have some food now? I am very, very hungry. Breaking that egg to find you is hard work. The dragonet's voice was extremely sweet and matter of fact as she spoke to Hasima.

Wolf realized that this was a stretch for Hasima, normally the girl was so quiet and reserved, embarrassed to so much as voice her own opinion. Wolf hugged her back knowing that even after this there friendship would grow even more. Wolf nodded at her words, putting faith in them. Looking at the girl now she could see Roxis, in persona obviously.
As the yellow came over to Hasima, standing before her, Wolf pulled away from her to let her share her moment now with the dragonet that had obviously chosen her. Wolf's eyes warmed, though afraid that Hasima would be leaving the sands... considering Wolf would then be left all alone. Wolf stared at the Green, it was the only one left and she was the second last standing Candidate left. 'Come on Wolf, emotions down, spirits high.' She swiped her nose with a finger, shuffling her feet as formerly. "Congrats Hasima," she turned to her friend. "She's beautiful, she'll match you perfectly." The same thing followed, Wolf looking back to the only dragonet up on the hatching sands at the moment.

Hasima heard the voice, a sweet, gentle voice, in her mind and felt as if another prescense just entered her mind, her thoughts. Her head slowly turned to the yellow dragonet, and she stood there stunned. Did that wonderful yellow just talk to her? Say she was her beloved rider? She just stood there as if she was stunned, which she was. She never had something that could completely understand her thoughts, what she was going through and now she did. A huge grin broke across her face, and I do mean huge which was quite a difference from the small smiles that twitched at her lips and her eyes watered up as she realized that she, Hasima, out of everyone on Pern had just Impressed Rimath.
Of...of course you can have some food Hasima said silently to the yellow, her mind slowly understand what fully happened. She looked at Wolf, repeated 'I promise' one more time and slowly headed towards the tables that held the food that was meant for the new dragons. Rimath dutifully trotted by Hasima's heels, saying once more she was quite hungry.
From where Akki sat, she watched the beautiful yellow head towards Hasima and when Hasima realized she was now the rider of Rimath she walked off towards the tables in her signature shuffle. Noises exploded from the blue rider and the blue dragon, cheering for Hasima. The girl deserved it, to have a life long partner.

Anassa saw that she and Wolf were the only ones left on the sands. The tropical colored green was still on the sands and there were only two eggs left on the sands. Surely both she and Wolf would Impress. But who would Impress the other egg that had not yet hatched?
((If anyone else comes there will be more eggs but for now I think the only ones who have not Impressed are Wolf and Anassa...))

Perin stood alone after J'kel led away his blue. He covered his face when the Tiger's eye egg burst open. He lowered his arms and was astounded to see a bronze dragon. This bronze was unlike any he had ever seen before. He was spectacular. He too had a reddish color like the brown but this dragon was unusual.
The bronze's tail was black and then it grew lighter until the dragonet's hide was a pale red. Perin was certain that every shade of red was represented in that handsome dragon's hide. He was big too, the only one that was near his size was Jessalyn's copper Aylith.
Perin gasped as he saw the dragonet's wings. They were glorious! Flecks of brown and gold made the bronze's metallic wings shimmer with their own light. This dragon would turn heads.
The dark-skinned youth heard the voice in his head but didn't want to believe it. He was simply a Master Tanner. He wasn't worthy of a bronze dragon, was he?
[glow=orange,2,300]P'rin, you will feed your Kilzanth now. I am hungry. [/glow]
He heard in his mind. This was not happening, or was it? The dragon was standing in front of him with his wonderous wings spread outward. There were no other Candidates, so perhaps this was true. Perhaps this Kilzanth was his dragon.
[glow=orange,2,300] Of course I am your dragon! Now feed me![/glow]
Perin met the dragon's eyes and suddenly, he was no longer Perin, Master Tanner. He was P'rin, rider of the glorious bronze Kilzanth. His dragon would be one of the greatest bronzes on Pern. Together they would save Pern from the menace of Thread! The dragon's eyes flared with rainbow colors and P'rin knew that he would NEVER be alone again, even in his own mind.
[glow=orange,2,300] We can fight Thread AFTER I have eaten, my chosen![/glow]
"Of course! His name is Kilzanth!" He shouted to the throng of people and dragons. He walked proudly at the dragon's side as they made their way over to where the brownrider was handing out bowls to the newly Impressed riders to give to their voracious soulmates.

Rhia smiled. "The cut isn't bad, we just need to put some redwort to clean it and some numbweed so he will forget about it. I will give you a vial of numbweed so that you can apply it if it starts to hurt."
She smiled again. "Drath is a fine name for a fine brown. His wings are handsome. P'lan it is then. Congratulations!" She watched him with approval. "Good, keep him eating slowly and don't let him gorge or you will be up all night with him complaining."
The Weyrlingmaster laughed. "You are not eating meat P'lan, Drath is." She shook her head in amusement.
