Standing the male groaned, moving out of the male barracks slowly. Arms raised, flying through the air, he stretched himself. Soon a cracking sound came as the bones on his spine repositioned themselves, a smirk covering his features. Ah, it felt good to stretch. The 5'11" lad looked about now, chocolate gazesweeping through the scenary before a chuckle escaped his slightly parted lips.
"That Candidate Master never keeps an eye on us, we're so many... Another free day for me..."
No surprise here, once more Sauke was skipping on his chores. He and his sibling had arrived a few sevendays ago and the lad was already skipping the candidate work.A habit he had was talking to himself when no one was around.
---
The female was back at her room, fiery hair tied in a high ponytail to keep it away from her as the bangs fell softly over her olive green eyes, curently a placid shade that showed her good mood. Her kitchen duty had already been fulfilled, a meatroll tucked in her mouth as she chewed it slowly. Sitting in a bended position her knees were currently at chest level, a sketchpad postioned on them as her right hand held a carbon pencil, making strokes on a piece of paper that was once clean.
She was sketching mentally, once more, a fire lizard. A young bronze she had seen when small, the one that had sparked her interest in them and their larger cousins, the dragons.

Anassa popped into the Candidate Barracks. She was bored. She went to her cot in the large room that was set aside for the girls and took out her flute. She tuned the instrument absently, not realizing that she wasn't the only one in the Barracks. She began playing the flute solo of Moreta's ride. She had learned that part years ago. Learning that piece had been a treat for her from the old Harper who had taught at her home hold. She had done so well that he let her learn that piece.
The flute was not shrill as she played it, not like normal amateur flute players. She had learned how to bring the best out of the instrument, just like her preferred instrument, the pipes. When she finished she cleaned the flute out and placed it back in its sandalwood case. She took good care of her instruments. Her parents had bought her this flute as a Turnover gift and she treasured it.
The former Harper Apprentice looked up and was suprised to see another girl. "Oh, I am sorry. I didn't realize you were here. If I distrubed you I apologize." Her voice was bright and cheerful with a hint of sorrow in it at the thought of disturbing an artist. She could see the sketchpad. "I am Anassa, formerly of the Harper Hall."

Her attention and thoughts were soon shifted away as a melody slowly sprung to life in the large room shared by the females. She had thought herself to be alone here... Olive green eyes turned up and away from the almost finished sketch, watching the girl as she played before a faint smile lined her lips, barely, as she listened to the tune. Simply wonderful in her opinion.
She remained quiet as the other continued to play, listening intently before watching as the other begun to clean and set the instrument. “You play good.” The words were out before she could notice, the female sitting on her bed as the sketchpad and pencil lied at one side, looking at the other candidate. Normally she wasn't so open up to others yet... This one was an artist, not with the paper and carbon like her, but with the sounds and tunes that come from the flute. “It's alright, you didn't bother me. I'm Rizu, it is nice to meet you Anassa.”

Anassa smiled. "I have always had a fair knack for music. I am not that great with any other instrument though. Lap harp killed me. I love pipes and other woodwind instruments and occasionally singing." She laughed.
"I was never without an instrument of some kind so my parents sent me to the Harper Hall with my old teacher's urgings. I loved it there at first but I quickly grew bored. It won't take much for me to get my Journeyman's knots. I have been studying with the Weyrsinger."
She stood and walked closer. "A pleasure Rizu." She didn't try to look at the other girl's sketches, she just wanted to study the other girl candidate. "Have you met any of the others? There is Remi, and Sorcha and Malenie, Aderyn, Wolf, and Rifenjesk. I think I have everyone. We outnumber the boys by a lot. There are only Kinest, Dicer, Perin, Jakel and Lucian in the boys' side right now." The brunet's voice was bright and cheerful.

The female gave a faint smile, nodding to the brunette as she spoke, the red-head listening with much attention. She had to admit the female was much of her liking, and her cheerfulness was slightly contagious. As she explained about her love for instruments and studies she nodded slightly.
“That's very neat. I've always liked drawing more than anything else. I was here just finishing my last sketch. Here.”
Grabbing the slightly forgotten sketchpad she showed it to the female. As she spoke of the others that lived here she shook her head slightly. She hadn't really tried to meet them at all. In fact, Anassa was the first person she had spoken to... Besides her brother.
---
And speaking of the devil he soon appeared, popping his head inside of the girls' dorm in search of his sister. Normally she was here around this hour and rarely anyone else was there. So he didn't bother to check or knock... Not like if he cared really.
“Hey, Riz, you sketching again- And who might you be?”
He blinked, chestnut hued eyes flying from his younger sibling to the other female with her, an ebony eyebrow raised slightly on his pale features. His sister, Rizu, socializing with another? He had to be dreaming. His attention soon turned to the female though, might as well get to kno the candidate...
"I'm Sauke, older brother of Rizu here. How may you be, my lady."
A flirty smirk was on his features, the male chuckling softly as she watched Anassa for a reaction. A flirtter to the end.

Dicer walked by the guy as he entered the barracks. His shoulder brushed against his but Dicer seemed not to notice or not care. He took the book that was laying on his bunk in hand and walked out. He was going to find some place to read, somewhere quiet. Already there were three people there to annoy him. He walked by again not paying any of them any mind, as if they didn't exist to him. He stopped nearby and fumbled through the pages to find where he had left off.

The female rolled her eyes as her brother begun to flirt once more, grinning slyly to him before waving slightly, taking the sketchpad with her. "Well, I'm going out. Have fun. Nice meeting you Anassa." With that the red-head strolled out. She was already getting to social for her liking, plus her brother might amuse Anassa for a while. Her gaze fell on another lad, sitting somehwere not too far from the barracks, as he fumbled about the pages. Moving off she seatted herself close to a tree, enjoying the shade it provided as she opened the sketchpad once more, carbon pencil in her hand. She'd try and sketch the readin male, just for the fun of it. After all, she had nothing else to do.

Dicer finally found the page he was looking for. He walked over to the shade of another tree. He sat on the oppisite side out of view of the girl. He brushed his cloak off and scanned the pages of his book. He was close to finishing it and he hoped today wouldnt be one of those days where someone wanted to come along and disturb him. He kept a hand under his cloak and rested on the hilt of his blade as he often did. He spoke not a word to the girl.

Ah well... So much for sketching. Sighing she closed the sketchpad, the carbon pencil safetly secured around the blank pages as she looked about. Nothing much to do really, and she didn't felt like going back to the barracks yet. So instead she decided to follow an old advice of her brother. Socialize. Moving she went over to the lad, keeping her own distance before tilting her head slightly. What culd he be reading that was so interesting? Olive eyes watched the male, pondering the question over and over in her mind. Ah well, no one got their questions answered by standing silently.
"Watcha reading?"
She waited for an answer, though not fully hopeful of getting one. She had gotten used to being ignored back at her home, why would it be any different here? What with all the excitement many had about the hatchings who would care about the others about? Still, it never hurt to try and talk to others, even if it was a small pep talk.

Sure enough someone was going to disrupt his reading. He turned to the girl's voice. But oddly and something unlike the candidate he spoke normally to her. "Just a bit of history", he said plainly to her. No scowl or anger in his voice, although his tone was plain it was still nice by Dicer's standards. He continued to read the book, he was almost finished with the last page. When he was done he clasped it firmly in his hands as he went to return it. He stood up and brushed himself off. He looked at the girl, though he didn't show it he thought oddly. Why did he act so decent towards her? Was it the nice tone she took with him? Dicer shook his head as he began to walk past the girl. Since when was he a conversationalist anyway. He walked slowly towards his barracks to put up his book.

History? She tilted her head slightly, watching as he finished the book and closed it, standing now before brushing himself slightly and moving away. She wasn't sure why, but she decided to follow. The truth, she had always wanted to learn more about history and how dragons affected it. And he wasn't being rude or ignoring her, so she might as well take the oportunity. "Is it any good? Most of the one's I've seen always talk of the same. Thread. They never mention anything besides it, like how dragons came to be." At least on the small hold where she had lived for so many years the knoledge wasn't written on a book reachable for everyone. She kew dragons and fire lizards were alike, maybe closely related, but not just how related they were to one another.

He stopped short yet didn't look at her. He then turned and looked at her. He handed the book to her then said, "Read it yourself. That's the only way to know if a book is good or not is to read it". He turned back and headed towards his barracks. He shook his head, he was acting weird and he knew it. It was as if something deep inside him was holding him back from biting her head off or telling her to buzz off and of all the things to do he gave her something of his.

The book now in her hands Rizu blinked, the red-head looking at the object before flipping the pages carefully. It wasn't small, nor to big to her, so she'd read it. But first she'd thank the lad, he had lended the book to her after all. Whil she was off in space thinking he had moved and, upon realising it, she tagged along, staying at a normal distance. "Thanks, I'll be sure to return it back to you when I finish. By the way, I'm Rizu. You are?" The least she could do was introduce herself... And get his name for when she had to return the book.

Dicer was still walking forward and had his back turned to her, he waved his hand off as if to say no thanks were needed. He halted and turned his head to the side and said to her, "My name is Dicer". He continued to walk to the barracks and flopped down on his bunk. That was odd. He thought this silently to himself. He was rarely nice to anyone. He remembered back at the lake and Akki, the same instance seemed to happen back then. It seemed to contradict who he was but then again he had to think to himself, a person was nothing if not unpredictable...sometimes even to themselves. He shrugged it off for now and placed his hands behind his head and closed his eyes. He wasn't asleep but merely silently thinking to himself as he often did.

Dicer? Neat name, she had to give him that. Nodding slightly, more to herself, she went back to the tree she had been sitting under previously. The book now on her lap she opened it carefully, beginning to read its contents. Besides her lied the sketchpad, the wind flipping the pages slightly and passing one sketch after another. The thing had close to a turn now so it was filled with sketches of her home hold and fire lizards... Along with the a few dragons from the rare visits ever made there. The last dragon she had sketched had been a blue that had searced her and her brother and his rider.

Malenie stood behind the lad in the door way to the female Barracks. She had just finished her chores, glows, which took her all night. Climbing up and down the walls of Weyrs, and now she wanted to take a nap. "Excuse me, your in my way," The Candidate said, Nakum cherped at the man. The girl put a hand on her little brown to calm him down. Then she took a lock of her short blonde hair and twirled it around her finger. She had changed since she got to the Weyr. Changed a lot. Nicer, but still the girl that had no care in the world for other's feelings.

"Excuse me, your in my way."
The male blinked, turning upon hearing the words before smirking slightly. Hs gaze fell on the little brown fire lizard, gruntng slightly. He hated those things, they were nothing but annoying, featherless, winged lizards. How could his sister like them? Unlike dragons, flitts were pretty much useless. They were just there to sit on shoulders and chatter all day - along to demanding things.
"Of course, just let me move darling."
The same smirk was still on his face, choolate optics watching the blond haired female before he side stepped, giving her enough room to pass. His attention then returned back to Anassa, waiting for her reply.

Dicer pulled out his knife from under his cloak and began to clean it as he often did. He thought silently to himself as he cleaned the blade. So there are two new candidates here. I doubt that would make this weyr anymore interesting. Still I suppose it wouldn't hurt to gather some 'information' on them. He was glad for the moment that he had the barracks to himself. Though he knew that wouldn't last long. Dicer was always constantly moving to try to find some place where he could keep to himself and not have some annoying interloper try and bug him. Why were they so interested in him anyway? If he was like they all said he was, which he wouldn't deny he was, why keep bothering him. Although there were a couple of people who caught his interest. The queen rider Miya who he reffered to as a contradiction to herself and then there was this G'han. Apparently he was some kind of fighting genious or so he heard from alot of those in the weyr. He felt opted to test that eventually. He would now sharpen the knife and continue to ponder over things. He looked the knife over, it was a gift from his brother. H'dyn had one exactly like it, it was custom made to and Dicer treasured it. H'dyn was the only one he was close to at all.

Malenie nodded, and took a step into the room, then stopped. She turned ton confront the other Candidate. "Darling?" The Candidate asked with a raised eyebrow. Nakum cherped, cocking his head at his bonded's confussion. "It's alright, Nakum," Malenie said, stroking her firelizard's head.
Who was this boy to call her 'darling' Admin's Note:[/hr] He had no right to call her that. Yes, he may be good looking. Her head was tilted to one side as she looked him over. New. She hadn't meat him before. He seemed like one of the people who did things for his own mortal gain. These kind of people, she did not like. A yawn escaped her lips. Her long night last night was taking it's tool on her. She would need some sleep.

She was still sitting under the tree, reading her time away as she slowly but steadily conquered each page of the book, keeping important facts etched into her mind for future reference. This really was an interesting book, she had to admit that. The sketchpad was forgotten for now, lying close to her as the gentle breeze played with its pages, flicking them this way and that before it would settle once more. It truly was a peaceful day, perfect for sketching or reading, and the female was enjoying it so far. For a moment she wondered what her brother might be up to, shaking her head slightly. He was probably still in the girl barracks, flirting away.
“One day the Candidate Master will notice him skipping chores and punish him. And then... Then I'll be there to laugh and say I told you so in his face.”
A bad habit they both shared, speaking to themselves when alone. Ah well, neither of them minded it at all. She grinned to herself, the thought of her brother getting into trouble yet again in a new place was much too tempting and hilarious. At least for her it was.
---
The tones in the Candidate's voice was a clear sign of her own surprise, the male chuckling silently to himself as she watched the blond girl and her fire lizard. At her voiced out question he merely shrugged. “It's a complement, nothing more.” Came his simple statement before he watched her move away. She looked as tired as an overworked herdbeast, probably the candidate that had gotten glow duty this time.
