Nice try. If it means your rider won't become Weyrleader then good. He knows the last thing this weyr needs is a power hungry wherry head such as your rider. But nice try trying to persuade me otherwise. G'han gave a sly smile to his dragon's words. He still wasn't in this flight whole heartedly but he couldn't stop his bronze. He could only cross his fingers and hope Sh'iron and his bronze won this flight as they did last time. They beat the other dragons once and they surely could do it again. He hid these thoughts from his dragon and watched on.

~Shut that sharding tunnelsnake up!~ L'ran shouted at his dragon.
Gladly. Zaneth snorted angrily. He swerved to the left and slammed into the small dragon, his larger body gave him the upper hand.
He then zoomed on away from the two and at the golden dragon. This was enoug. He wanted to end it quickly. His tail and neck stretched out, reaching for Kaith. He needed to win. Then he and his rider wowuld get the respect they deserved and bronze dragon and bronzerider.

Gerenanth barralled back almost plummiting to the ground. He unfolded his wings and shook off the initial shock. He saw now that the larger bronze was not going to make this flight any longer than he had to. Gerenanth shot up with speed and reached to be even with the bronze. He wouldn't go all out on that move ofcourse as it would put a bigger strain on him than needed. He used just enough speed to gain equal footing with the bronze. G'han flinched as he saw what the larger dragon done. "Just like you L'ran. You are nothing but a brute. All you know how to do is pick on the weak. My bronze is right for calling you a wherry head you worthless tunnelsnake", G'han snapped at the rider. He cared not if L'ran lashed back, G'han was more than capable of handling this weak minded power thirsty bully. I will not be done in so easily Zaneth and if you think to end this flight quickly then you are sadly mistaken.

Zaneth simply stretched for the gold. Less then an inch away.
"Zip it." L'ran growled, his fists clenching, and knuckles becoming white. He knew better then to fight though.

Idath watched the brutes that flew above him, even in height with the queen. He was behind her and a little lower than the rest. That was a good place for him. He was into strategy. He didn't like to make things up on the spot. The dragon watched quietly as the ones above him argued and his bonded was equally silent as the humans did too. They would not feed the fire.
Idath gave a pump of his wings, not yet feeling the strain in his shoulders. He was just below her. Should she dive he would be in perfect position. Should she go up he would just have to follow. A dragon was trying to catch her. Kaith was certainly not tired out enough to let him, though. This flight would last much longer. Both he and S'far knew that.

"Yeah what I thought", G'han said looking up in the sky. He didn't even bother to look at him. Gerenanth flew faster towards the queen, he couldn't allow Zaneth to catch her. Gerenanth sped up a bit more to get closer to the queen. G'han had to wonder to himself what was Sh'iron and Myranenth waiting for. L'ran and his bronze were mere inches from catching the queen. He didn't want Gerenanth to catch her but the last thing on pern he wanted was for Zaneth to catch her. Myranenth if you are going to make your move make it now. ~Gerenanth he is too close he might actually catch her. Barrel into him or something~, G'han practically shouted mentally. The bronze smacked into the larger bronze with enough effort. Gerenanth went to the side a bit afterwards and eyed the bronze. You push me and I push back. Last flight the bronze did nothing, no comments no words, this time he would fight back.

Zaneth growled angrily as the small bronze pushed him. Get away you worthless bronzen hide. He bugled angrily. This was enough. He didn't care if the flight just started. Zaneth darted forward, faster then before, but still not his fastest. He tail moved forward and touched the tip of her tail.

G'han saw the larger bronze close in on Kaith. ~Gerenanth we can't let that bronze catch Kaith. You know what you have to do now~, G'han spoke to his dragon. ~No but's about it. Don't worry about me, just worry about the sake of this weyr~, G'han said cutting his dragon off. Not a chance! The bronze took off with amazing speed and closed in on Kaith stretching his neck and tail out. Zaneth wanted to try and catch her this early well so would Gerenanth. Gerenanth was no longer going to sit idly by and let Zaneht catch her. G'han's mind began to meld with Gerenanth's.

Idath. The bronze dragon figured it out from there. He lined up in the middle of Gerananth and Zaneth. Idath was pretty big, he could manage this. He flapped his wings and shot straight up into them. Half of his body hit each so they went more sideways then up. Kaith would choose her mate, they wouldn't pick amongst themselves. She would slow to the ones she found most worthy. And Idath would be one. Idath would be one of those dragons and he would catch her. He needed to stay determined- stay motivated.
On the ground, S'far was struggling not to share a mind with his dragon. He liked to make sure everything was all right. He looked for Christae but he did not see her- he saw G'han and another rider. Subcionciously he walked towards them but he stayed silent. He was concentrating.

Zaneth was getting tired with these bronzes. They were not supposed to be fighting him. Why do you all continue to deny me of Kaith. If you want her so bad catch her yourself, like dignified dragons. There is no point it just trying to make me lose. Why not try to win? He asserted.
He bugled once more and reached for Kaith once again. I advise you to make a decision soon. I wish not for blood to fill the skies. Zaneth informed the queen. He understood this would probably do little. Though he didn't beleive the others were worthy of becoming Weyrleaders, it was untraditional to start a physical fight.
L'ran and Zaneth were now one. The minds had melted together and they were both determined on the same goal.

Kaith roared in fury as the bronzes fought each other. You pay attention to me and only me you worthless bits of crackdust.
Kaith rose higher in the air. Her large wings brought her swiftly away from the warring males. There was only one dragon who was more dignified than to brawl in the skies. You are not worthy to be bronzes! Kaith taunted.
She dodged to the side. Her path was now heading away from the Weyr in a different direction. She turned again, passing by the males above and off to the side of them. She headed out towards the warm thermals coming off of the ocean. The blood was running hot through her veins.
Christae was appalled when she saw what the bronzes were doing. "L'ran, G'han, control your dragons! We cannot afford to lose bronzes. You..." She broke off as S'far's Idath bullied his way between the two other dragons. "S'far. You three should be ashamed of yourselves. You are supposed to be able to control yourselves and your dragons at all times."
She was still able to keep track of her human self. She led the bronzeriders away to the chamber that was reserved for flights. Most of the time the contestants were not in the female's weyr when the flight began so a chamber was kept available for the riders involved in the flight.
The dragons were out of sight of the weyr now. Christae had to rely on looking through her dragon's eyes to see how the flight was going. She sincerely hoped that it was Sh'iron's large bronze.
I will not be rushed. How dare you suggest that I rush MY flight for YOU. It is not MY fault that you are unworthy of ME. I am the largest Queen Pern has seen since my anscestor Ramoth. You must be worthy of ME. Kaith partially turned and snapped at the bronze as she passed them, heading in a different direction. She was away from them before they could turn, heading out to the ocean.

G'han gritted his teeth, "You think if I were in full control of my dragon he would even...". He trailed off not wanting to indulge it any further, but the jest of what he said should have been obvious enough. If it were up to him his bronze wouldn't even be in this flight. He could no longer see the dragons and was now in a room with the other bronze riders and Christae. Gerenanth flew faster now, pulling ahead of the others as he caught up to Kaith. He wouldn't go full speed yet but he would go fast enough to close in on the queen and match her moves. I will show you who is worthy of being bronze. Gerenanth started pulling further and further away from the others, though he didn't know how long this would last. He was out to prove his worth now. G'han simply closed his eyes and said nothing, no longer did he acknowledge his surroundings. He would not further meld with his dragon, his heart was not fully in this but he couldn't deny his bronze the chance to fly the queen especially now when it was too late to stop him.

L'ran and Zaneth had enough of this bickering. L'ran followed Christae into the chamber. "I will show you what it means to be a bronzerider." He said, his voice full of pride and determination.
Zaneth bugled a challenge to the queen who began to shoot insults at him. I will show you what it means to be a bronze. THe large dragon repeated the words of his rider.
With a pump of his wings Zaneth followed, careful not to burn himself out. No more arguing or wasting any energy. He would show them that he was worthy of catching the queen, he would show Kaith he could, no matter what.
Zaneth didn't waste his energy to move up as the queen did. Instead he used the air currents to pull him along, beneath yet slightly behind the queen. He should have known better then asking Kaith to end it quickly. There was no dignity in that. Besides, a short flight would mean a small clutch, and the larger the clutch, the better.
Then, Kaith unexpectadly whipped around and flew right about the chasing bronzes. He was even more surprised as the queen snapped her mighty jaws at the foolish dragons. A dragonic grin spread across his bronzen face. He should have known better.
Zaneth followed the queen, by turning as well, but his turn was not as sharp. Though his speed kept a steady pace, he turned slowly so that he ended up beneath, below, and to the side of the queen.
The bronze rolled over in the air and bellowed once more. But this bellow no longer held anger. It held excitement, pride, determination, and strength. He would try as hard as his large bronze body would allow him. He would not give up easily.
Another large pump of his spread wings moved him closer to the queen. He kept off to the side so as to avoid the other dragons. He was done fooling with them, not it was time to get serious.

Kaith let out a haughty bugle. These bronzes underestimated her prowress. She put on a burst of speed, catching an updraft and flying ever higher in the air. The thermals lended a boost to her strong wings, just as it did the other dragons, but she was ahead. The fire of dragonlust was deep in her veins. She was a pulsing golden form in the clear air. She angled herself so that her golden body was lost in the brilliance of the sun.

Myranenth stayed out of the fighting. It wasn't needed. He was, afterall, the oldest bronze in the flight. His eyes were only for Kaith. The beautiful queen, was all he had his mind for. Letting out another bugle, the huge bronze put out a burst of speed to try and get closer to Kaith.
Oh Kaith! You beautiful queen! You are a queen who is worthy of one! Let me be that one! Myranenth called out for Kaith's mind only. He followed her closely. As close as he could.
His wings beat down hard as he felt the thermal, carrying him closer to Kaith. Crooning slightly as he saw Kaith pulsing, he worked harder and faster. Suddenly, he lost sight of her. Looking around, he searched for the queen. Where was she?

Kaith was above off to the side of the males, flying into the sun. She bugled back.
If you wish to be that one prove it to me! Catch me! Do not waste time with flattery!
Christae urged her dragon on from within the weyr. She cheered when the Queen lost the offending males. Only the cleverest, the one most used to her tricks would be able to catch her and he would be worthy.

Gerenanth was still closing in on the queen but lost her in the brilliance of the sun. He couldn't loose valuable time. In a bold move he closed his eyes and shot straight up. After awhile he opened them and noticed he flew past the queen, now above her. G'han laughed at his dragon. ~Bold Gerenanth but you couldn't see where you were going, you missed~, he said to his dragon. Oh but did I? His dragon was now above where the sun could no longer block his vision. He now shot down after the queen, though realizing she would soon be on the move again. This attempt would atleast get the sun out of his eyes and back to focusing on Kaith. G'han was amazed at his dragon, perhaps sacrificing some time and energy but also allowing him to get his sight back.

Zaneth didn't even bother looking at the queen. By the movements of the other bronzes he could tell that she was still moving forward. He then noticed that Gerenanth was moving in.
Never young bronze. You are not worthy! he bugled challengingly to the queen after he spoke to the smaller bronze.
Zaneth than shot a look up and caught the site of her golden body, but barely. He then pumped his wings are and zoomed in at an amazing speed. His neck and tail reached as he continued to move towards the queen, faster than ever before.

Gerenanth shot down getting closer and closer to the queen. He did a downward spiral towards her as he gained ground. I will prove my worth to you Kaith. He ignored Zaneth saying nothing to him, only focusing on the queen beneath him. G'han knew his dragons movements and gave a bit of a smile, knowing he wasn't just going to focus on catching her he was out to prove his worth as a bronze. G'han still sat silently not speaking with his eyes closed.
