Homesick

[Dragon]

K'dan walked to the lower caverns and sat down giving a sigh. He was starting to miss his family now. It had been forever since he had seen them. He hadn't seen them since he was searched. He wondered how everyone was doing and began thinking about the sea. He put his head in his hands and pictured it as it looked last time he was there. It was such a calm and peaceful place and he missed the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks. He started remembering all those mornings he and his dad would go fishing. They were a poor family and basically ate off what they caught, rarely going to the nearby hold and getting supplies. That was how he was found and never again saw his family. He remembered telling them about being searched and how proud they were that their son would be a dragonrider. He wished they could see him now, his dragon, and the woman he loved. He wanted them to see the new life he had and how much he had changed since then. He gave a little smile as he thought of what they might say about how he looked. He was no longer their scruffy looking son, no he had filled out with muscles now. He could just imagine his father wanting to challenge him in an arm wrestling match or something, that was his father. A big tough man but loveable none the same. He was quite a character his father. He continued to stare off into space while sitting there.

Nevvanikea(She still couldn't used to the name) spotted K'dan sitting down at a table in the Caverens. She had just gotten off duty. Her sleeves were rolled up tp show her redwort stained skin. The smell of numbweed, and other medicen wafted around her to make a sweet smelling perfume. Odd huh? A smile crept to her face as she walked up to him. A hand was placed on his shoulder as she slid around to sit beside him. A soft peck on his cheek let him know that she was there.
"You look sad. What's the matter?" She asked.

Zim cherped and cocked her head at K'dan. The gold still perched on Nike's shoulder, tail tightly curled around her neck.
Foreleg on ear, and head hidden under Nike's red hair.

[Dragon]

"Oh it's nothing. I am just thinking about home and my family. Well my old home, Darkmoon is my new home now", he said to her. He leaned in and returned her peck on the cheek with a slight kiss on the lips. "I will be fine, just a little homesick is all", he said to her and reached to hold her hand.

Nike smiled. "Well then, why don't we go visit? I mean, we are allowed to go anywhere within reason. Why don't we go and spend the night at your old home? I'm sure your parents will be pleased to see you," The healer said, patting K'dan's shoulder.
Zim cherped happily.
"I know that Ruanth will be glad to get out of the Weyr. I honestly want to too," Nike grinned.

((I found a picture of Nike. Just a few things. It's the best picture that I could find. BUt her hair is thicker, and curlier, Her eyes are slo more green.

K'dan perked up and looked at Nike, eyes dancing with joy. "Are you sure? We can go now?", he asked her, excitement filled his voice. "I can't wait for them to meet you. I know they will love you", he said to her and got up and gave her a hug. "I will go get packed meet me in the weyrbowl", he said to her. He kissed her for a little while then let her go and said, "Ok I am going to get ready". He ran off and got his things packed and had Hydrath wait for him in the weyrbowl. He filled the dragon in on what was going on and was soon out in the weyrbowl readying his dragon for the trip to his old home.

Nike grinned and laughed. She ran back to her own room, and started packing up.
Ruanth raised her head.
What are we doing?
"Going to visit K'dan's hold. Your taking me there, and good thing you fed earily today," The Healer, and strapped the white's things on. Then she tied the bags that would be needed. Just some clothes, healing gear, and cleaning supplies. Then she picked up her jacket, gloves, and helmet.

In the Weyrbowl she saw K'dan and Hydrath waiting for them.
"I'm ready to go," Nike said as she put her jacket on, then helmet, then gloves.

[Dragon]

"Alright good", he said to her. He hopped on the blue and he took off in the air. Hydrath gave the image of where they were going to Ruanth and her rider after he received it from K'dan. Soon the two went between and popped out near the hold. As they were in the air K'dan looked at the scenerey before him. The sea, it had never changed. It was as beautiful as ever. He signaled Hydrath to land and the blue complied and landed. K'dan hopped off and waited for Nike.

Nike nodded, and followed suit. When they came from /between/ Nike's eyes went straight for the ocean.
Beautiful, isn't it?
Yes. Yes it is.
The white landed, and Nike jumped off. After taking off her helmet, she walked over to K'dan.
"Where is your family?" She asked, looking around.

[Dragon]

"They are probably in the hold as we speak. Come on", he said to her. He walked up to the hold and entered in. He took off his riding helmet and shook his head, getting any hair out of his face. He looked around and heard someone shreik and saw someone ran up to him. It was his mom, she recognized him the second he took off his helmet.

"Kadan. it's my little Kadan all grown up. Look at you boy. You have filled out and look like such a nice young man now", she said to him and gave him a huge hug.

"Mother I am so glad to see you. You can call me K'dan now. I impressed a dragon and am now a dragonrider at Darkmoon weyr. He is a blue dragon named Hydrath", he told her. He looked over to Nike then to his mother. "Mother there is someone I want you to meet. This is Nike rider of white Ruanth", he said to her. He grabbed Nike's hand and led her next to him and closer to his mother.

"I am so glad to hear that K'dan. My boy a dragonrider, you make your mother proud", she said to her son. She gave a smile to Nike and said, "A whiterider, well you must be quite famous then. Such a beautiful young lady you are", she said to her. She wondered if there was something between her son and this girl. "Your father is out fishing but should be in soon and your sister has grown alot since you left. I think she would be happy to see her older brother a dragonrider and I know your father will be happy to hear about it", she said as she led the two of them to where they stayed.

Nike had just taken off her gloves when she heard the shreik.
A cringe fromed on her face. So loud it was. A smile formed on her lips as she looked at K'dan's mother.
Nike let K'dan lead her over to his side to meet his mother.
"Not really," Nike said. A blushed formed on her pale cheeks. Why did every call her beauitful? Her grandparents, and now K'dan mother? Would his father think the same?

She shook her head and followed the two to the room where they would be staying. Nike liked her lips. Would she and K'dan be sleeping together? This question, and well thouands more buzzed in her head. She was glad that she could meet K'dan's family and all.
Ruanth and found a spot on the beach to sleep in.
It is nice here. Sunny. Nike gave a little snicker, then returned her attention back to the other two.

[Dragon]

K'dan's mother led them to the room where they would be staying. "You two can sleep here", she told them. She didn't care if they slept in the same room, to her they were both adults. Both dragonriders living on their own now in a weyr. "You can place your things here then come with me. Your father should be on his way here now", she said to them and led them to her room and offered them to sit. K'dan would refuse to sit until Nike did.

K'dan raised an eyebrow, his mother was going to let them sleep in the same room. He put his stuff down and followed her. As he entered the room he saw his baby sister. He had left when she was so young and now the girl was a good 6 turns old. She shyed away from K'dan at first, not remembering him. K'dan drew a frown on his face, upset that his sister didn't even recognize him. Soon his mother corrected her and told her who she was and she ran up to him and gave him a hug managing to say Brother. K'dan hugged her back and gave a smile. "Sister, this is Nike", he said to her and pointed to Nike. The little girl gave a smile and gave her a hug as well then ran back over to her mother. K'dan gave a bit of a laugh.

Nike shrugged and placed her things down. She got a good look around the room, then followed K'dan's mother out into another room. Nike took a seat, and smiled at the little girl. She looked like K'dan.
The healer watched the girl as she shyed away from K'dan, then ran up to him.

It was a touching moment for her. She had never had a blood related brother or sister. Many foster siblings who were closer to her than some real blood related siblings were together. When the girl hugged her, Nike gave the girl a hug back.
Looking up at K'dan's mother, the rider looked her over. Hopefully she wouldn't be mad that she and K'dan were weyrmates.
Nike hoped that the woman wouldn't learn that she was older than K'dan, and many other things. But hopefully they would acept her, even if she was older than K'dan.

"It is nice to meet you two," Nike said to the two other women.

[Dragon]

"It is nice to meet you too Nike", K'dans mother said. The little girl repeated what her mom said and gave a smile.

K'dan's father soon walked through the door and looked around. His eyes widened when he saw who was there. "Kadan my boy. It's been awhile son", he said to him and gave him a huge hug. "Who's this pretty little lady you have here with you?", he asked his son and gave him a nudge in the ribs and a wink.

"Father! Call me K'dan now. I impressed a blue dragon named Hydrath and this here is Nike rider of white Ruanth", he said to his father.

"Oh that is good to hear my boy. I can brag now. My boy the dragonrider", he then looked at Nike and said, "Well well a whiterider what do you know and a very beautiful one at that. Nice to meet you. I always knew my boy had good taste in women, just like his old man". He hugged her with one arm and K'dan in the other. "Son you have grown to be a fine man and look at those muscles. Since when does my scruffy little K'dan have muscles on him. I'll just have to see how strong you have gotten", he said to his son.

Nike looked up at smile when K'dan's father came in. The white rider stood up, and waited to be introduced.
Green eyes widened slightly as the man spoke.
By the First Egg! Why does everyone think that I am pretty?
You are, and people should tell you how pretty that you are.
"Yes, nice to meet you, sir," Nike said as she was hugged by the man.

Once released, Nike looked over the three people. They looked like K'dan so much. Well, they were his parents.
Then she looked around the small hold. A family hold. Small, but cozy. She liked it. Nike felt welcome, and safe. Boll was the same way, but had so many bright colors. Orange, red, blue, green, gold, yellow, bronze, and any other bright color.

[Dragon]

"See how strong I have gotten? What do you mean Father?", K'dan asked. He stood next to Nike and looked at his family. It had been so long since he had seen them last, but things didn't seem to have changed much. Although his sister was older now, she had changed a great deal. When he had left she could barely talk.

"I mean an arm wrestling match my boy. It will be fun. We couldn't ever do that before because you were such a small little thing", his father said and nudged him in the arm. He sat down at the table and motioned for him to sit and arm wrestle. "Come one boy", he said to him

K'dan gave a sigh and hesitantly agreed. The two arm wrestled. Both struggled, going back and forth but finally his father beat him. "Ok you won. You have seen how strong I am", K'dan said, glad it was over.

"You have gotten strong boy, strong enough to be able to hold out against your old man", his father said. "Well I bet you two are tired from your trip. I know K'dan looks beat", he said and gave a chuckle.

Nike gave a little chuckle at K'dan.
"Go on, do it!" She said elbowing the blue rider.
Crystal and Zim landed on her shoulders. The gold hid herself in Nike's hair. like she always did. The three watched K'dan and his father arm wrestle. The Healer couldn't help it not to smile. It was such a happy little moment.

Nike patted K'dan's shoulder. "It's okay that you lost. You did good," She said with a smile. Zim and Crystal cherped happily. The healer reached up to stroke her gold's head. The firelizard crooned, and rubbed her head against Nike's cheek.

[Dragon]

"I know. This is my Father's favorite thing to do. He is the best one in the hold or has things changed that much since I left", K'dan said and winked at his father.

"No your old man is still the best", his father said. He stayed seated and leaned back in the chair and K'dan stayed in his.

After awhile of talking and catching up K'dan's little sister gave a yawn. "I guess that is a hint that we should be going to bed", her mother laughed and smiled. She went to put the little girl to bed and would retire herself.

"Well sorry son I would love to stay up all night long and talk to you but the day has been long and tiring", his father said and retired as well.

"Goodnight", K'dan said to them as they left. He looked over to Nike and stood up. "Now what do you want to do? Are you tired or do you want to go somewhere or something?", he asked her. He wouldn't mind going to bed but he wouldn't mind going out to the sea as well.

Nike smiled and talked along with the others. She grined when the girl yawed, and the three went to bed.
"Good night," She said and waved. Green eyes turned to K'dan. "Honestly, I don't care. But I would like to go to the sea for a little while. The moons and starts are out, and there is no cloud in the sky," She said in a dreamy voice. Eyes skyward.
"But if you want to go sleep, I wouldn't mind doing that either," The said, stroking a sleepy Zim.

[Dragon]

"It feels like forever since I have seen the sea. Let's go", he said to her. Sharan gave a chirp and K'dan smiled, he almost forgot he was here. He had stayed with his blue to keep him company. The bronze flitt and the dragon sometimes seemed inseperable. K'dan held Nike's hand as they walked along the shore and Sharan flew up to K'dan and perched on his shoulder and gave a chirp before settling comfortably. "Beautiful isn't it", he said to her and gave her a kiss on the cheek and then continued to look out over the sea.

Nike nodded and let K'dan lead the way. "Yes it is," It felt so good to have the salty wind blow through her air. She was what, fifteen when she felt it last? It was amazing how time flew. A smile formed on her lips as she felt the water lapping on her bare feet. She had kicked off her boots, and rolled up her pants before she left the hold.
"I'm glad that we came," She saud, and leaned on K'dan, her head resting on his shoulder.
