T'rin gaped as the little grey firelizard emerged from its shell. His first instinct was to help it, as a grey coloring in any other dragon would mean they were in trouble health-wise. But it soon became clear that he was perfectly healthy, and T'rin stepped back. It was a good thing, too, because the little creature made a beeline for R'khol. "Well done, Weyrleader!" the bronzerider exclaimed as Impression was made.
Seeming to sense that she was being outdone, the little yellow daintily picked her way across the table to where there was food. One hand held food, and from its body she could feel good thoughts and hear nice sounds, so she quickly snatched a gobbet of meat out of S'yer's hand, barely taking the time to chew it before sucking it down her throat. She creeled, begging her bronzerider for more.
T'rin nodded to the young man in silent congratulations, and then slid a look over at Rhia. Had she known the weyrling would Impress? Did that mean that the other weyrling, D'lan, would Impress as well? After a moment of thinking on that, T'rin dismissed those thoughts as silly. Flitters were attracted to food and cooing, as S'yer had just demonstrated, and not some inner flitter-magnet.

Inoa watched as two of the firelizards chose the ones they wanted. Her heart fell, but she was determined to not let her jealousy show. She might not be a Rider, but she definitely played an important part in the Weyr, helping to feed the Weyr. She turned her attention back to the eggs. She hoped that one would hatch and choose her.
She'd not been lucky enough to be searched and hoped that she still had time to be Searched by the time the next clutch graced the Hatching sands. She wasn't getting any younger as the Turns went by. It made her angry sometimes when she'd be passed up, overlooked. She may not be as pretty as some others, but she was still a nice looking young woman.

S'yer chuckled. "Hey hey there, you're supposed to chew that." He grabbed more meat out of a nearby bowl and cut them smaller, offering them to the ravenous little yellow. She was dainty and cute, and had probably liked the sweetness in his voice. What was it V'dann had said? Something along the lines of 'if he had the mind to, he could charm the finish off of wood'... or some such. Well, apparently his voice was good at cajoling sweet young flitters to the bounty he offered.
The yellow ate up the smaller offerings of meat with the same speed as she had consumed the first, much larger one. When she was good and full she crawled her way up her chosen's arm and nuzzled into his cheek before curling up on his shoulder for a good nap.
S'yer watched his new charge with interest and a kindness that was rarely showed openly. He was considerate, yes, but sweet and loving in public? That just didn't happen often, if at all.
He smiled to the his senior bronze rider as he moved out of the way so that others could have a better spot to try for a flitter. "Seems I made out quite well this time."

"Indeed! She's a beauty," T'rin said, admiring the delicate flitter. "What are you going to call her?"
The male green was lonely, and fed up with not being fed. He screeched impatiently, his thick build giving his steps a stomp-like effect. He looked around a moment, then marched right over to D'lan and chomped on his finger, which of course was his way of asking politely for food.

D'lan was too busy admiring the other hatchlings that he did not notice the male green until he bit him. He recoiled slightly and retracted his hand.
"Ouch! That hurt little one. My finger isn't food." He scolded, looking at the small creature. The flit tilted his head slightly and screeched it's hunger again, causing D'lan to laugh as he reached for some meat.
"Here, try this, it'll be much better." He said, handing it some food. As it ate, Lenoth bespoke D'lan.
He is impatient. What shall you call him? Lenoth asked, looking curiously at the little dragon. D'lan was confused.
He? But it is green, therefore it is female, is it not? D'lan asked. Lenoth snorted slightly.
Color isn't everything. What is his name? Lenoth said, pressing D'lan slightly. D'lan looked thoughtful for a moment.
Well, he is bulky. And he is demanding. Perhaps...Spark? Yes. Spark. That will be his name. He is somewhat random, he appears large, and he can hurt, hehe. What do you think Lenoth? D'lan asked. Lenoth gave a draconic nod.
Fine by me. Will I be eating soon too? Lenoth asked, eying the meat chunks D'lan was feeding spark. D'lan suppressed a chuckle.
Perhaps, I'll ask the weyrlingmaster later after we fill up this one's stomach. D'lan answered, continuing to feed Spark, the male green.
