Faine turned her attention back to the eggs that continued to flow in, new ones were popping up everywhere it seemed. She counted them another three times – so far there were twelve eggs on Dark Moon sands. She was curious to see if anymore would be coming. How many candidates were there in all? Would there be enough for everyone? Thoughts ran through her head. She was about to count the candidates that were there so far before she heard Vaelryn. “Oh!” A soft noise of surprise flew out of her mouth as she turned to look at the boy. “I didn’t see you there.” She admitted with a sheepish smile. She nodded happily in agreement with the boy. “I want to Impress because then I can be a weyrling with people I was in candidacy with.” She said with a smile before continuing, “But I guess if I don’t Impress, then I can just make more friends with the candidates for the next hatching.” Either way didn’t seem all that bad to her. ----- V’ian continued on with transferring the eggs, a continous but simple task. It didn’t change much. Climb onto Waeith, go Between, arrive at Ista, collect eggs, return and repeat. He would continue doing this until told otherwise, just grateful for the chance to help out. As Christae took the eggs from him, he immediately slipped back onto Waeith. The bronze took into the air and followed the routine, appearing above Ista again in a matter of minutes. They landed on the ground, dirt and sand flying up. “Here’s two more. Tell Dark Moon’s Weyrwoman that there’s only one left. Ista is sending fifteen eggs her way, hopefully that will suffice.” The Ista rider instructed with a weak smile. “Yes, of course. Thank you.” V’ian beamed, accepting the two eggs that were among the last. Again they arrived back at Dark Moon and V’ian handed the sack to Christae so the large Queen could arrange them on her sands. “A rider from Ista told me that there’s only one egg after this one. They’re sending over fifteen and are hoping that will be enough for us.” V’ian dutifully recited. Ooc|| I guess it would help if I actually remembered to put the eggs in the post eh?

Andilay walked calmly onto the sands, an unconscious Rayn thrown over her shoulder. She was sure they made quite an interesting sight. Of course, Rayn being the way she was, when they were told that they were supposed to go down to the sands to witness the eggs coming in she... oh how to put it... spazzed out? She want into hyper excited mode and of course, became oblivious to her surroundings.. especially opening doors and their edges. Poor thing ran right into it and BAM! Out like a light. Well, at least this way, if she woke up, she could see the eggs that she went unconscious to see.
It appeared that there were 12 on the sands so far... very colorful. Were all eggs so colorful? Andilay didn't really know. Her father had never spoken much of hatchings... or even weyr life... so all she knew was rumor and what she learned here. She noticed a few of the other candidates gathered together, talking. Unfortunately all the people she had met were dragon riders or weyrlings- therefore she didn't know any of her fellow candidates at all... and was kinda hesitant to join them and but into their circle.
Since she couldn't set Rayn down, as the sand was far too hot and could burn her, Andilay simply stood off to the side and observed the others quietly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sleyer wasn't quite sure what he should be doing... he was dragged by some random person who told him that since he was brand new to the weyr and didn't know where he should be going they would show him... and they forced him to this incredibly hot place. He could feel the uncomfortable heat wafting up from the sands and was unsure as to what it meant exactly. He heard a few tidbits here and there about Ista Eggs? Were those the colorful ovals in the sand by the big golden dragon? He thought eggs would be... well, bigger and less vibrant. Could something so big come from something so small? He supposed he would wait and see...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Verdann was terribly lost... He had been told to go to the hatching grounds, and then given directions from the same person, but unfortunately he had a bad sense of direction... and bad with directions in general really. He had a good memory- and how he managed to get lost when he remembered the directions perfectly was beyond him... but while he was lost... he might as well explore. Maybe he would find someone that could point him back in the right direction.

Christae accepted the last egg and stepped back to allow her Queen to arrange them to her liking. It was odd to see Kaith with eggs when they were not hers but her Queen realized how beholden they were to Ista for this gift.
"You may assure your Weyrleaders that we will take good care of these eggs and the hatchlings that result from them." She returned the salute of the two Istan riders and watches as they flew out the cavern in single file.
She looked at the eggs thoughtfully again. Without their Junior Queen, these eggs were crucial. Christae shook her head, forcing her thoughts to take another direction. The young Weyrwoman couldn't afford to think about this setback right now. She'd break down.
She turned to the audience. Not all of the Candidates were there and Rhia wasn't there yet either.
Kaith love, ask Mneith where Rhia is.
Mneith, my rider wishes to know where yours is.
Mneith's reply came back promptly and respectfully. Mine is trying to catch her runner. He broke loose from his stall and managed to escape the stable when someone opened the door to check on the beasts. I think she's nearly got him now.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Indeed, Rhia emerged in the cavern a few minutes later, her boots and clothes spattered with mud and her face slick with sweat. It was blazing outside but a small thunderstorm this morning had made some puddles and Sun Dance had gone through them while Rhia tried to catch him.
She bowed low to her Weyrwoman. "I apologize for my lateness Weyrwoman." Her voice was warm even though her words were formal. Only away from impressionable minds would the Weyrlingmaster EVER call her Weyrwoman by her given name. Then she turned to those gathering in the stands.
"Candidates, since the one who was supposed to be taking my place as Candidate Master has left, I will be your Candidate Master as well as your Weyrling Master when you graduate. Welcome to Dark Moon Weyr if I have not already welcomed you. I am Rhia, rider of brown Mneith. Due to the hurricane, both Weyrling and Candidate classes have been put on hold. The arrival of these eggs makes it imperative that we begin your classes as soon as possible. I expect to see you in the Weyr Bowl one candlemark past dawn. You will be joining the new Weyrlings from Kaith's last clutch. I will have to teach you both at the same time."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Christae stepped forward. "We are actively seeking another Candidate Master to relieve Weyrlingmaster Rhia but for now you will have to bear with it and perhaps by the time we find a new one, you personally won't have to worry about a Candidate Master because you will be fully under Rhia's tutelage."
"I do not know most of you. I normally make an effort to speak to each of my new arrivals but, alas, circumstances have prevented that. I will remedy that soon. For those of you who have not met me, I am Christae, rider of the Senior Queen Kaith, Weyrwoman of Dark Moon."
"These eggs will be hatching within a few sevendays. They are nearly hard enough to touch right now and the Touching will be in a few days. WLM Rhia will instruct you on proper procedure and, although I hope to see you around the Weyr, I will see you all then."

As everyone focused their attention on the clutch, the young candidate Relina appeared at the entrance of the cavern, her fire-lizard Zorn riding happily on her shoulders, looking over the right side of her head.
She approached the sands with caution. She had heard tales of the dragons and had minimal description of their eggs, but she had never actually seen a dragon or it's egg until now. She stared at the mighty Queen as it and her rider looked over the eggs. Upon coming to the edge of the sands, she saw the eggs. They were much bigger than she thought they would be.
She took deep breaths in an effort to calm herself, while Zorn showed her comforting images as a result of sensing her anxiety. She looked at the little blue Flit with a small smile. "I don't know if I can do this Zorn, this is all much more than I expected. I mean, these are dragons! They are a lot more than Fire-Lizards. I don't know how I'll be able to even care for one. And look at all these people." She looked around at the other candidates and riders and sighed. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea Zorn."
Zorn squeeked his disapproval at her words and lightly smacked the back of her head with his tail before rubbing his head around her neck in an attempt to help her get ahold of herself, for he knew this was not the way his friend normally behaved.
