It has been over two Turns since the plague hit the Northern Continent. Many died, many were victims. The few left were force to take the weigh of those who had fallen. Thread still fell, it did not wait for the plague to subside. It did not care and in it's silver fall many more died. I watched on as my Weyr began to crumble, I watched as cries for help were left unanswered.

“Quarantine! We must quarantine the North!” Was what many Weyrleaders and Lord Holders demanded. I did not agree, nor at the time did my weyr mate who was Weyrleader of Crescent. The Master crafters stood behind every word the Riders said, and in the end there was a quarantine. It was insane! Most of the Weyrs could not fly Fall with a full wing! We needed to band together, but no. They were scared, as scared as I was. The total of death each day was stacking, it was traumatizing. The Queens we had were falling ill, many jumped between with or without their Rider. The ones left behind rose only to lay lifeless clutches. Madness, pain, suffering, and still we could do nothing but try. In a sea of my own tears I watched as the newer colors fell, they were hit harder and quicker.

Something needed to be done! It was clear the quarantine wasn't working! I rounded up my last surviving Wing Leaders,and Queenriders. I told them my plan, it was madness itself. But what did we have left to lose? I told them to spread the word that we were going to leave the North. Away from the plague, and hope that we could survive. That those left would not be lost. As the days went by till the date of when we would leave, many came willing to try anything. Anything at all. The day we left, I still felt tears fall down my cheeks. Many of my Riders could not come and I felt, some how I felt, that this was the last time I would see them. We left, left with heavy and broken hearts.

West, the one land that was never looked upon for settlement. We found a canyon perfect for building a new Weyr. A new life. And so we did. We survived the plague! Our young Queen is now close to age where she shall rise. As late Crescent's Weyrwoman and Solace's Weyrsteward, I feel that we will once more rise from the ashes anew! The Weyr is open to any who wish to settle here. The North has been ravaged, but still holds life. The other Weyrs are struggling to rebuild their numbers. But the Queens are rising, and one has even laid a clutch that has hatched!

Pern will survive, and so will the life on it.

A new future awaits!

Jaenellyth has risen! Solace finally has her Weyrwoman and so in turn her Weyrleader, Bronzerider N'kor. The spirit around the Weyr is full of joy and excitement, with such a healthy Queen and strong Bronze everyone awaits the day that a clutch is laid. Will we be graced with another Queen? I hope so, for we need every Queen possible. As I watch those around me I feel the hope rise. It has always been there but now it is as strong as the sun's light above.

Our Hold wishes to throw a Gather, both in celebration of the new Weyrleaders and the accomplishments the West has achieved. As the word spreads I step back, allowing the reign over Solace to Weyrwoman Holli. While I may not be the main authority within the Weyr I have experience and seniority. I continue to help out whenever I can, and as such I have sent out our Searchriders to go and find us Canidates. For not to long there will be eggs on the sands, and with those eggs the future Dragons of Solace.

As life continues here, so it does in the North. Rumors, such horrible things, are spreading like wild fire within the Northern Weyrs. Many questioning why the plague left once the “odd” colors died out, and when Crescent's people left to the West. I hate that the past can not remain that, the past. Those tradition bound Riders continue to create a picture to all as if we were the cause.

Forget that we helped them when their numbers were weak. Forget that we always proved ourselves no matter the cost. Forget that even if the colors are different those Dragons still rose to the call when Thread fell! I had hoped that I would not be reliving my past, now with Turns to my name I will not let them try the same games with Holli as they did with me. Solace needs her, and I will be her shield and sword if it comes down to it. North is quiet....too quiet.

A storm is coming, can't you see it upon the horizon?


Jeanellyth's clutch has finally hatched, ten strong Weyrlings all of them. Both Holli and myself signed the records as witness to the event, had it only been more than a Turn ago when I signed the scroll marking the event of Yukarneth's clutch here at Solace? It has felt almost like a lifetime ago, a whole other person who had experienced all that I have. A Weyrleaders' Council summon has recently reached the Weyr. The Rider seemed a bit on edge when he gave me the wrapped paper. At first I took it as he was in a rush, for Blueriders were known to for being one who couldn't sit in one place too long. I was blind by celebration, by the joys and wonders of a Hatching to see that he looked around him as if the Dragons who were on the Weyr ledges were a threat to him. It wasn't till I broke the wax seal and read the letter;

As Senior Weyrleader, I would like to formerly request both of your presences at the Council meeting within a sevendays today. I would like to send my congratulations to both Weyrwoman Holli and Queen Jeanellyth. We heard of your eggs upon the sands and probably either are early or late in sending our happy wishes. As our duty as leaders of the Weyrs that protect Pern there comes a time that a meeting with all the leaders is needed. It has come to my attention that such a meeting is needed. Weyrwoman Elyssa and myself hope to see you both there. Safe travels and wind to thy wings.

Rolling the scroll I felt my hands trembled. What was their to be afraid of in such a simple summons? I myself had received many or if not myself Q'eya had as well...and before him R'thall... I had never been able to let the shadows of the past lay in the past. Still, I have my reasons why. Many of those Weyrleaders are still around today. No, they had a grudge against the “tainted” colors. Not that of the leading Gold and Bronze of the Weyr. If anything they probably will be praise with false deeds just because of that...No, nothing to fear in such a simple letter. The plague was hone, the Weyr was growing, life was back to normal. So why is it that I feel as if I am about to be consumed by a raging storm? Is this paranoia or experience calling? The future never seemed so clouded...

.:Upcoming Flight – There is little known about the female Crimsons that live within Solace. All that is known that they can clutch like that of a Queen. If this is so, many are watching the twin Crimsons wondering which will rise first. Crimson Arieath is showing signs that she may rise any day now, what will the outcome be to such a flight? All are welcome to join if not, this will mean a possible clutch on the sands. Candidates are always needed. :.

.:Weyrleaders Event- Solace is hosting a major plot that will involve everyone who wishes to join. To help such plot move along an event is being held where Members, new or seasoned. Have the chance to create NPC Weyrleaders or Weyrwomen of three Weyrs that scheming against the Western Weyr. If picked these Riders will not be counted against your character quota, but they will be NPCs who will only be used as long as the plot is being played. :.

At Last...

The Crimson's clutch has hatched. Though it took a bit longer than was expected all five dragons are healthy and showing good signs of health and growth. Under such happy times lingers a taint to the mood and talk of the Weyr. Weyrwoman Holli has been ill for quite sometime, and the Healers are baffled. Not only is she ill but her Queen as well, with the pair the only Gold left of the two born from Yukarneth's clutch. Many find this an omen, an omen that maybe Solace was not meant to be. How else would it explain the death of their other Queen and now Jeanellyth?

Try as they might, Asha and Yukarneth have tried to keep the gossip and chatter down to a minimum. Finding herself back in the role of Stewardess is harder than it once was. It is as if they all went back in time and now consumed by concern and fear. Is this the sign the plague is back? Are the other rumors true....could the other colors be the cause for the death of the traditional colors? Pleads for a Queen to transfer have been ignored or denied, the news of Weyrwoman Holli have finally spread across the North. No Queenrider is willing to sacrifice herself to a doomed Weyr...or is there?
