A green! The green's hide was dark jade, and it gave a high-pitched keening as it stumbled from the wreckage of it's egg.

Another egg was cracking. Rior stood on his tiptoes trying to see what had come from the egg. Bits of shell flew at him and he brushed them off his robes. But then turned his attention back to the egg, what was it?

A green! Oh greens were beautiful! And she was a dark jade color!
Why am I thinking? Nike thought as her eyes layed on
the green. But she did have to think this. She would be a great fighter.

The green stumbled through the crowd but suddenly turned back, gazing at the girl closest the the egg. She sat up on her heels as she gazed at the girl. [glow=forestgreen] RaheraMine, your Jaeth is amazed. I can feel your mind.[/glow]

So the green Impressed! Nike smiled and clapped. She then stoped,
and thought about Zim. I hope she is okay by herself. But Sargon is with
her. But her eyes went back at the still rocking eggs.

ic: Cristae broke into a smile as the green stumbled forward. Greens would always be needed in any Weyr, even if they couldn't clutch. She watched it out of the corner of her eye, also watching the rest of the clutch.
And look! The green had chosen Rahera! "Congrats!" She yelled to her friend. The green looked to be a very nice dragonet. Cristae smiled once more, than looked to the other eggs again.

It was a green! A deep jade green dragonet. Who would the little green choose? Rior glanced down the line of candidates. The answer was soon apparent for the green stumbled to Rahera, after making a detour into the crowd. Rior clapped again for the impression and tore his eyes from the pair and began scanning the eggs again.

Oh, what a marvelous green! Rahera sighed dreamily. What a pretty color! "Who do you think she'll Impress?" she asked Cristae quietly, her eyes never leaving the little green.
Her head spun as the green came her way. She was really hers?! Bending down, she scratched her eye ridges. "Jaeth?" she paused testing the name. The world stopped as she spoke that single name, the name that would be connected to her forever.
"I'm amazed, too," she said to her dragon softly. With tears streaming down her cheeks she smiled, and said, "You hungry?"
Oh, yes! came the reply.

A third and fourth egg cracked at the same time. The cracks spiderwebbed down their sides. The crowd gave a gasp as one. The first egg was nothing special...just a smallish egg, cracking like normal. But the second egg...it was the golden egg. The Queen.

Cristae held her breath as the gold queen egg started to Hatch. She glanced at it, then at the other that was also Hatching. Oh, she had to see who the gold chose! Wishing she could watch both at the same time, she just shifted her gaze from one to the other.

The golden Queen's nose, triangular and rather blunt, poked from a widening hole in the shell. As she foreced her way out, the crowd went silent, all eyes on her, all heart thudding as one, desperately, in the candidate's chests.

Nike looked at the eggs as two more hatched. A normal white egg
and the queen. Nike kept one eye on the normal egg, and one on the queen.

Rior didn’t know which egg to look at. Sure he should’ve just watched the smallish, normal egg, but he wanted to see the queen egg hatch. There was no chance of him impressing it of course, but he couldn’t keep his eyes away from it. He shifted his feet nervously as his eyes glanced from one egg to the other.

Nike's heart thumbed as she watched the queen hatched.
She looked just like the one on her necklace. But bigger, and a lot
shinier.

Shards! Cristae diverted all her attention to the gold. All attention was on that one egg and the form that would soon emerge from it. She'd just look away really quickly if the other egg Hatched.
