Another Day Passes By

[Akki]

Akki fell to the ground with a slight 'Fwomp' as her body made contact with the soil, packed down from so many people walking over it. Her hair splayed out around her as she looked up into the sky, only to see Ebbeth circling, his wings move ever so slightly as he glided.

The egg touching was done, and from what she heard it went by well except for the impatience of Kaith, which was understandable. So far the egg and the thief remained hidden, and with every passing second everyone grew more concerned about it. She closed her eyes, shutting out those thoughts. Today, she just wanted to relax, have some fun with Ebbeth. And hope that others would come by even.

She invited Hasima to go down to the lake with her, but the shy girl turned her down, saying she was going to nap for a bit. Obviously the excitement of the hatching coming up made it hard for her, and probably the other candidates to sleep. Slowly the thoughts came back, asking the girl what she thought Hasima, Jakel and the others were going to Impress.

Stop thinking about that and come swim with me, have some fun. Ebbeth said as he curled his wings around his body and plummeted into the lake, waves crashing into the shore. Akki lifted a hand and wiped some droplets of water off of her arms before pushing herself up and heading towards the water.

She stuck a toe in and shivered, "Brr. It's cold, maybe I will change my mind about swimming.". However the water did look inviting, and the day was rather warm....

Coward The blue sniffed as he slipped his head under water, the rest of his body following.

[Dragon]

G'han and K'dan walked alongside one another deciding it a good day to hang out at the lake. So many fond memories there and with a moment to spare why not spend it at such a place. K'dan saw Akki at the water's edge. "Are you going to go in or just contemplate it?", he asked as he came up along side her.

G'han walked calmly over to the both of them. "I see you had the same idea as us", he said simply and looked over the water's edge. Today G'han seemed to have this calm stature about him.

K'dan gave an odd glance to G'han then gave a smile to Akki. "So how are you and your dragon?", K'dan asked happily.

[Akki]

"I'm contemplating, and say anything else about me maybe not going in, and I'll push you in." Akki warned as she stuck her foot in, her mouth going slightly crooked as she wondered if it was better to go in bit by bit or just to jump in and get it over with. 'Jumping in seems like a bad idea, too cold for that.', She thought to herself as she looked towards G'han. "I like to think myself as original and claim that you two copied my idea and that I am a trend setter.".

"We are thinking about going for a ride to another weyr and harass them for a bit so we can have some fun. I want to meet new people, see new faces and such. Another day maybe. Or I can just tell everyone to get their shardin' selves over here. Either one works. All in all, we are both fine I suppose. And you and Hydrath? And of course, how are you and Gerenanth G'han? I haven't seen much of you two and your dragons for a while it seems. Or did I see you two yesterday? Yesterday is a while, isn't it? I mean, it is a whole day.".

[Dragon]

"Cold water like this doesn't bother me Akki. Or have you forgotten I lived the fisherman's life before I came here?", he paused then continued, "Hydrath and myself have been fine and I suppose it has been awhile. I guess alot of my time has been spent either at work or with Nike". K'dan was obviously in an excited, energetic mood today.

"I'm doing well. Spending as much time as I can with Rhia and and the twins then there's work of course. Perhaps you should come over one day. I know Rhia would enjoy having you over and spend a meal together with us", he "Akki you are original in everything you do. I don't see this Weyr surviving without you and your insanity here to keep things light around here", he said with a slight chuckle.

[Akki]

She stuck out her tongue at K'dan and said, "Fine then, I won't push you in. Instead I'll attempt to drown you. Better?.". "I should hope you're spending time with Nike, other wise I'd have to hurt you K'dan. How is she anyways?". Akki hadn't really seen anyone for a bit, keeping to herself, which was a hard thing to do for her but she didn't want to cause trouble when there was enough going around.

Akki tossed back her head and laughed and spluttered, "G'han, we both know you two wouldn't be able to tell me from the twins. Except, they probably have better manners than I and don't fling food around. It would be like having three children for supper.". "I appreciate that sweet talk but we all know they could, I probably just add to the havoc." She said with a wide grin. "Besides, I still want to meet people and see new faces, you know?".

[Dragon]

"No that's alright. I think I'll pass", he said to her. He raised an eyebrow and then smirked. "So is there anyone that has been holding your attention as of late?", he asked hintingly.

"No they would throw food right back. Though Giana seems to have her mother's manners. She's, how shall I say, calmer than little Rehan. I'll be sure to have you over for dinner and of course K'dan and Nike as well. It would be good to have some old friends gathered around a table together", he said to her and nodded to K'dan when he mentioned them. "It wasn't just flattery. You lighten things up around here Akki, you have the ability to bring a smile to anyone's face, a rare quality it seems. This weyr would be too droll without you", he said to her.

K'dan nodded, "That would be great and I agree with G'han things wouldn't be the same without you and your sense of humor".

[Tenma]

Miya sat down in the grass, her back leaning against a tree trunk. She took a deep breath and looked around. The lake sparkled underneath the sun and it truly was peaceful. Until, of course, a few dragon-riders decided to have a party. Miya sighed. She didn't really mind all that much, but she really had expected everyone to be too busy today. She had a day off from training with Cristae today and had wanted a day to relax by the lake. Oh well, surely they wouldn't make too much noise.

After getting Hasima to leak about Akki's plans, Jakel got ready and headed for the lake. He walked most of the way. As he approached he had a large smile on his face, like always. Some of the candidates, like Hasima, were tired from yesterday, but all it did was excite Jakel further. Once nearing the lake, Jakel saw three figures. He was able to make out Akki faster, because she was the only girl. Once a bit nearer he was able to make out G'han and K'dan. Once close enough for them to notice him, he took off at a full run, straight at Akki. He then place his hands on her back and shoved.

[nike]

Nike exited the Caverns, glancing from side to side. "Now where had those two gotten two?" She mumbled to herself.
Over by the lake. Ruanth said.
Glancing towards her left, the Healer spotted the forms of her mate, and the bronze rider. Smiling to herself, she headed out to meet them.

The tiny white was perched on the rim, sun bathing like normaly. It was very typical of Ruanth to do so. She loved bathing, of any kind. The rider laughed bitterly. It was getting harder and harder to clean Ruanth with each day. Her pregnancy was taking a toll on her thin frame.
Do you need any help? Ruanth asked, concered.
Nope. I need to keep walking. Anyways, when I get to the lake, I will be able to sit down.
The white dragon sighed. Alright.
Ruanth still watched her rider's progression across the Bowl to the lake.

Nike had been busy lately. More so than she ever had been, but she was keeping up with all of her chores, and duties. All of her free time was spent with K'dan, and she rarely saw anyone else. All of her friends seemed like strangers to her when she saw them. And the tension of the missing egg added even more barriers between the people that Nike loved. It was hard.
Finally, after what seemed forever, Nike reached the lake, and sank thankfully to the ground besides Akki.
"Having a party without me, eh?" The white rider asked with a laugh.
Merry green eyes glanced at the other riders around her. It felt good to be around her friends. Akki was her oldest at the Weyr, and there was a closeness between them, even if no one could see it. G'han was a good friend. He could be depended on.
And then there was K'dan.
K'dan was her mate, the father of her child, and her closest of all of her friends.
Nike felt at home among these people. Like she was back at Boll, but even better.

[Dragon]

K'dan's face brightened as he saw Nike. "Never my dear. It's never a party unless you're around", he said to her as he sat beside her and kissed her on the cheek. Now K'dan was happier than ever, today seemed like it would be a good day for him.

G'han smiled as he saw K'dan light up with joy. The boy, well he supposed he wasn't really a boy anymore, seemed to have woke up with enthusiasm. "Good to see your up and around Nike. Enjoying a momentary break like the rest of us?", he asked her. He watched as Jakel came and pushed Akki. The boy's constant energy and enthusiasm was something to be admired. He seemed so full of cheer and excitement all the time.

[Akki]

"They would throw food back? Ah! A three way food fight, excellent. I like the way those two think!" Akki said with a laugh before making a 'Tsk' noise and waggled her finger in front of their faces and said, "Haven't you two ever heard of three's a company? Well, in this case five's a company. I can't be the odd person out and disturb your guy's supper.". "The weyr would be better off you two, less trouble to be found." She said jokingly as she smiled. "Besides, other places need a bit of Akki too you know. The more Akki the merrier. Or is it the more the worse? Oh well, same thing basically, you know.".

She opened her mouth to say something but felt two hands on her back, and before she could turn around to see who it was, the hands shoved her and caused her to fall head first into the water. She hit the surface, felt the cold liquid rush over her, trying to get into her mouth which she, luckily, closed seconds before falling and could hear Ebbeth laugh in her head, obviously enjoying this. She sank for a moment then kicked, her head bobbing out of the water and said, "Jakel you sharding miscreant. One of these day I'm going to get Ebbeth to stick you in his mouth and close his jaws so I can watch your body snap in two....and the water is cold in case anyone cares.".

She spat out some water and looked over at Nike and said, appalled, "A party? With out Nike? Never. Your invitation must have gotten lost. K'dan probably misplaced it, he's not so bright you know.". She said the last part with a wink at K'dan and Nike. She laid back in the water, letting herself float and said, "Was I the only one who made the mistake of bringing a dragon then? I should remember that then, I'm regretting it already.".

She's just mad because I'm prettier than her. Ebbeth said to everyone, bubbles popping as the reached the surface, showing where the dragon was in the lake.

[Tenma]

Jakel sat down and burst out laughing. He felt slightly out of place, since everyone here was full riders, but it didn't bother him too much. "Ebbeth would never do that too me. He is too pretty." Jakel laughed, a bit shocked that a male dragon just said that his rider was jealous of how pretty he was.

"We have Akki, Ebbeth, and Nike. Now we can have a real party." He said with a broad smile, going along with everyone else.

Miya smirked when Akki fell face first into the cold water. That was decent entertainment. Miya looked around. She was sent images and realized that her flitts were sunbathing with Ruanth. Meanwhile, Reinath was sleeping on her ledge.

[Akki]

"A real party would be me watching Ebbeth gobble you Jakel." Akki said, cracking open one ey lazily to glare at the boy. "Are you saying G'han and K'dan aren't realy party goers? Tsk Jakel, they wouldn't appreciate that probably. Shouldn't you be off in a corner talking to yourself about how excited you are for the hatching? I think Hasima is doing that. Actually, she said 'Thanks for the offer, but I am going to sleep for a bit, if that's okay, I can join you if you want.". Shards, that girl is too kind for her own good. Someone will take advantage of that one day. Probably me.".

Akki squinted past Jakel, noticing a figure against a tree trunk. "Who is that?" She said out loud as Ebbeth popped his head out of the water, staring at the person for a second. Reinath's mine I think. He said, as he glided on the waters surface. "Cover your ears everyone." Akki warned before placing her hands cupped around her mouth and yelled, rather loudly, "Hai Miya! Come and join us! Come on!".

[Tenma]

Jakel laughed. "I bet that if your life is ever in danger, I will have Ebbeth gobble me. That way your life will be complete." He joked in return. "I don't know how anyone can just stay pent up. I am so excited. I mean, I was able to feel some of them moving around in their eggs." He said, practically shaking in excitement.

He noticed Akki squint as if she were looking past him. So, he turned around to see who was behind him, expecting someone to try and shove him in the water, as he had done to Akki. Instead, he saw a woman sitting against a tree, watching them. Has she been there the whole time? That is freaky. Jakel thought to himself. Not wanting to be rude, he turned around and gave the person a wave and a big smile. He cringed as Akki shouted. "You have a good pair of lungs." He joked.

Miya had her eyes closed as she listened to their conversation. She could get in a lot of trouble for this, because she wasn't supposed to be spying anymore, but it wasn't her fault if she could hear them. Then they all stopped talking so she opened her eyes to see some of them looking at her. While debating whether or not to wave Akki shouted an invitation. She then debated about whether she should go over there or not.

You should go mine. You need to spend time with the others. If you are ever going to be Weyrwoman then you need to be friends with everyone. Reinath pointed out.

Miya hadn't thought about it that way, but Reinath was right. That seemed to be happening more often. The conceded and mistaken hatchling had grown and matured and become wiser. The sad thing was that she was maturing faster then her bonded. Miya sighed and decided she would join them. She stood up and walked over to them.

She looked at Nike. If everyone didn't know that she was pregnant yet, then they would soon. She looked at the drenched Akki and at G'han and K'dan. Finally she looked at a boy that she didn't know. "And you are?" She asked.

Jakel watched as the women walked over and looked at everyone in turn, him last. "I am Jakel, a candidate." He explained. "And you?" He asked, placing his hand out in front to shake.

"Miya, Sr. Weyrling rider of gold Reinath." She introduced herself. She sat down against a tree again, but this one was closer to everyone. She had ignored the handshake.

Jakel looked at his hand then smiled before running his fingers nervously through his shaggy hair. "A queen-rider? It is very nice to meet you." Jakel looked at Akki. He was feeling uncomfortable and wanted her to say or do something.

[Akki]

Akki had to admit, she was a little surprised that Miya did come to join them, she expected the cold shoulder, or a rude gesture. Or a death threat. Then again, if Miya caused trouble while here it could still cause a death threat or two. "Ha! She blew you off like there was no tomorrow!" Akki laughed as she watched Miya sit down against the tree, ignoring the handshake Jakel and extended.

"Good lungs? All the better to beat you all at a race." Akki pointed out as she climbed out of the water, shaking her head so her blond hair went flying, sending droplets of water sailing through the air. "Whoops, sorry." She said, after realizing she probably just sprayed some people. "You looked nervous there for a second Jakel, does the high ranked dragon rider scare pwoor wittle Jakel?" Akki teased, poking him lightly in the arm.

"Well, come on then, who's going to lose to me at a race?" She said stretched her arms over her head and yawned. I could beat you with ease. You would lose to me. Ebbeth said pleasantly for everyone to hear as he snaked across the surface, watching them. "Is that a challenge you lazy lard?" She shouted sticking her tongue at the blue.

Ebbeth fell silent for a moment and returned with a simple Yes

[Tenma]

Miya ignored Akki's comments. She put her arm up to stop the water from splattering over her face. I think Akki has lost it. Miya said to her bonded. All she got in reply was a snort.

Jakel laughed as he was sprayed with water from Akki's hair. He didn't even mind when she mentioned him getting blown off, he merely gave the goldrider a side-glance. But when she mentioned being afraid, he decided to take revenge. He jumped at her, tackling her into the water, ignoring her ideas about having a race. He didn't care that he got his clothes wet, she deserved to be scared.

[Akki]

Just as Akki was beginning to feel the sun dry off the water on her arm, she felt a body come in contact wit her own, making her flail for a second trying to regain any balance before hitting the water. For the second time. She struggled under water for a second, trying to figure out which way was up and which way was down. A moment later she figured it out and her head broke the surface.

"I hate you Jakel with a passion. May dragons swoop down and eat your innards." She spluttered as she spat water out of her mouth and shook her head in an attempt to get rid of the water that was now in them. "Somebody hit him for me." She said looking at Nike, K'dan, G'han and Miya with a sulking face. "Are all you guys going to stand there? Help me up?" She said, sticking her hand out for someone so she could get some help getting out of the water.

[Tenma]

Jakel surfaced to take a breathe, but he quickly burst out laughing. "You are so kind Akki." He said sarcastically. He looked around at the others who weren't helping and he started laughing. "Why not just stay in the water. Isn't that why you came to the lake?" He questioned.

Miya smirked as the candidate tackled Akki into the water, once again. She was starting to like this guy.
Go help her, mine. Reinath said.
Why? I am enjoying this. Miya questioned.
Because if you don't, I will come over there and shove you into the water. Reinath explained.
Miya sighed but gave up. Her bonded seemed to be winning more and more battles. She stood up and took Akki's wet hand, before pulling her up.

[Akki]

"Because as long as you are in the water, you are polluting it. I rather not swim in polluted water." Akki returned with a wink to Jakel. She felt a hand grasp her own, and looked up expecting K'dan or G'han. But...it was Miya? She paused for a second, slightly surprised before she was pulled out of the water and said with a grin, "Thanks Miya, I owe you big time.".

She wiped the waters off of her arm, flinging it at K'dan and G'han. "Whoops." She said, her eyebrows raised as she watched the water head towards her friends. Akki turned to Jakel, stuck her tongue out at him and said," And the reason I came to the lake was because I was hoping you'd come and then do everyone a favour, and drown you.".

I'd drown you before you could drown him Ebbeth pointed out. "You're supposed to be on my side Ebbeth, you know. You should be the one helping me hold him underwater." Akki said with a sniff.

[Tenma]

Miya wiped her wet hand on her clothes. "I will hold you to that." She smiled, but it was more of a kind smile than her usual smirk. She walked back to the tree and sat down again.

Jakel stuck his tongue out back at her. He climbed out of the water on his own and shook his head like a dog, causing his shaggu hair to stick out in different directions. He smoothed out his hair, but it still looked weird. He plopped down on the ground and turned back to Akki. "What did Ebbeth say?" He asked curiously, when she said that he was supposed to be on her side.

[Akki]

"As long as it won't involve something I'll later regret, I'll keep my word." Akki said to Miya with a grin before splaying herself onto the groundand looked up at the sky. It felt good to be with her friends, even Miya, just to relax and have fun, they all needed a break and this seemed like the perfect one. She turned her head to look at Jakel and wrinkled her nose as she said, "He said he'd drown me before I would be able to drown you. I'm starting to think Ebbeth was meant to be your dragon, you're both against me.".

Yes Akkimine, Jakel is meant to be my rider, you have been living a lie Ebbeth said for everyone to hear as he swam closer to the group of people, wanting to hear their conversation more clearly. "Ha! Knew it. That means that Jakel and I shall switch places and that I will get to stand on the hatching sands again. And maybe Impress something better than a worthless, mute blue." She said with a wink. And I will have a rider who is actually intelligent and not a overly fleshy person who stuffs her face.

Akki looked down at herself and then said, "I think he called me fat.".
