D'nyr smiled gently and gave a chuckle. "Well- I do hope for the best," he said, glancing back ar Hathea.
--
"I cannot believe they actually expect the Weyr to survive. It is so small and I am sure that if a bigger Weyr, mine for instance, has even a bit of trouble with tithing here it will be ten times worse. We are not even sure Thread will come back or at least not for a while. Even when we fight, I am not sure a Weyr such as this will be of much help," she said.

Having nothing to do, Miya and Reinath were listening in on Hethea and Tela. She was having a hard keeping down her anger but now, once the last word was spoken she couldn't hold it down, but Reinath beat her too it.
The queen stood up and roared, loud enough to quiet everyone. You should not speak that way about fellow weyrs! Reinath snapped.
Miya stood up, to do what she was going to do before. "I don't care what you think but this is my home. And I bet that, despite the size, this weyr will help your weyr with thread. Both of you don't know how significant our weyr is compared to your sharding pathetic weyr!" Miya snapped.

((Gah...I need to reply....Just letting you all know that I exist still.))
Galia was glad that she was out of the spotlight, and unless she did something scandalous, would remain that way. With all the tension of the Weyrleader's meeting, she wasn't sure that she wanted to be noticed. Again, she directed a nervous smile towards her Weyrmate, and shifted towards him. "I hope the rest get here soon so that this can start," she murmured back. "The sooner we can get away from all these people the better." Some of their words were making her uneasy; the Southern Weyrwoman was certainly not feeling comfortable, but she could only imagine how Darkmoon's Weyrwoman, with so much more at stake than she, must feel.

Kadire gave a smirk as Miya and her dragoness spoke up. She leaned over to Christae and whispered, "I think she will make a fine jr. weyrwoman. Look how boldly she speaks out to others who she feels threatens her weyr". Kadire moved over to Miya and spoke to the other two, "I would hold my tongue about other weyrs if I were you. What makes your weyr automatically better than any other. Does this weyr not have the same color dragons as yours? And don't we feel that dragons choose those who are best for them. If this weyr were enept then it would have faded out long ago and nothing is wrong with a small weyr. Here I am sure the riders are closer to each other than any of the bigger weyrs". She looked at the others, she was fond of this weyr herself it was just as important as the others. "I wouldn't be suprised if it were this weyr that saved yours", she smiled as she placed a hand on Miya. "You do well to defend your weyr against those who would speak badly of it. I would do the same in your place", she said to Miya.

Christae looked up at Miya's outburst, horrified. She frowned. The girl should know better than to cause trouble. She heard the other Weyrwoman's words and nodded. "She will but I can't allow her to speak thus in this situation." Christae strode forward with authority.
"Miya, Reinath, to me now." Her voice was cold and promised a sharp reprimand for the young goldrider.
"Please excuse our Weyrling Queenrider. She has not yet learned her place." Christae hoped that her explanation would soothe the other Weyrleaders. Christae could not allow such a breech of conduct to happen, even though she agreed with Miya and would tell her as much.
She drew the younger goldrider aside and made sure that the other riders could not hear her. "Miya, what you just did could jeopardize our standing with the other Weyrleaders. Just because some vicious old women are jealous and decide to slander our name doesn't mean we can retaliate. Don't think that I can't hear what they are saying about our home and insinuating about Sh'iron and me. I can hear them just as well as you can, but I can't show it."
"I would love to slap the three of them silly but I can't. I am a Weyrwoman and you will be Junior Weyrwoman. You will have to learn how to veil your insults and protests so that they can't accuse you of openly defying them. They are right. We are a small weyr, but they know nothing about us. They know nothing about how we struggled to stay alive and how strong we really are. Just remember that. We will show them in the games. Please Miya, for all our sakes, hold your tongue. It is not befitting a goldrider for you to speak thus."
"Reinath, I will not chastise you. I leave that to your mother and Sr. Queen." ~Kaith, did you hear her?~
I did.
~Then deal with your daughter.~
I will. The gold began to give her young daughter a lesson in prudence. "Miya, I am not punishing you, and under any other circumstances, I would applaud you, but you cannot say such things to Weyrleaders. You cannot rise to their bait. You can only prove them wrong, which we will do."

Back outside in the Weyrbowl, a small, dark bronze appeared from Between. The dragon gave a loud bugle to the Watchdragon, and moreover, to the entire Weyr. A moment later, an average sized gold with a very bright hide appeared from nowhere at his wingtip. They back-winged in unison, kicking up a ton of dust as they landed. Next to each other, their hides clashed rather oddly, as the bronze's hide was dark and the gold's extremely light.
We really are late. Atiaisth stated as she swung her head around Dark Moon's Weyrbowl. And this Weyr is really smaller than most, I can already tell. Well, hopefully they haven't started without us. Lezay replied absently as she leaped from her gold's back. The woman took off her riding helmet in a flourish, revealing dark brown hair that fell to her shoulders. Her hazel eyes turned to T'sor, her Weyrmate and Igen's Weyrleader. "Think anyone will be angry at us? I told you we should have timed it since we were running late."
Dismounting from his bronze Kinoith, T'sor gave the Weyrwoman a smirk, blue eyes alight with anticipation. "If they are, they'll just have to get over it, won't they?" He replied, removing his helmet and running a hand through his dirty blond hair. "I'm sure a select few shall be."
At the age of thirty-nine, he was five Turns older than Lezay. The pair might not be as old or experienced as some of the other Weyrleaders, but T'sor never let that silence his opinions and statements.
What are you waiting for? Go meet the others. Kinoith said as he and Atiaisth took off to join the other Weyrleader's dragons. Try not to take forever, either.
"Oh, I wouldn't count on that." T'sor chuckled. Without another word he led Lezay in the direction that he pretty much knew the Lower Caverns were in. The Weyrleader seemed at home and comfortable, while beside him Lezay was curiously looking around.
"Well, good day everyone." Igen's Weyrleader greeted rather loudly as the pair entered. "Sorry we're late, I can see we've missed a few things, we got hung up at home. Three greens flying at once, and two of the riders being just graduated..." He trailed off with a raised eyebrow at the look on some of the Weyrleader's faces. Lezay rolled her eyes at her Weyrmate's words. Leave it to T'sor to forget formalities.

Christae looked up from chastising Miya when they heard the watchdragon's warble. She smiled at the response from the visiting bronze. Kaith reared to her full height beside her bronzen mate and bugled a welcome. The large gold's bright hide blazed with health in the sun. Welcome to our home. She told the incoming dragons.
Christae turned to Miya. "Please behave. I cannot stress this enough." She walked over to join her weyrmate when the newcomers entered and began explaining their lateness.
"Welcome to Dark Moon Weyr. I think we can all relate to that. Weyr business is never done. Please, make nothing of it. We are still waiting for the Telgar Weyrleaders. Allow me to introduce ourselves. I do not believe we have met before. I am Christae of Sr. Queen Kaith. My weyrmate is Sh'iron of bronze Myranenth. Our Junior Weyrwoman-in-training is Miya of Jr. Queen Reinath."
Christae didn't know if Sh'iron had met them but she was certain she had never met the Igen pair. She sincerely hoped they were either neutral or on their side. The young Dark Moon Weyrleaders had more than enough to contend with with S'kel and Tela of Ista and Hathea of High Reaches.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tela looked scandalized when the young goldrider's outburst. She started to say something scathing but then Christae intervened. She could not tell the Jr. Weyrwoman or her Queen anything if she hoped to gain the support of the other weyrleaders.
"Be that as it may, she was out of line and I hope that you discipline her." She sniffed, putting her nose up in the air with disdain. She was distracted by the arrival of the Igen Weyrleaders.
"You could have at least sent word through one of your Queens that you would be late. It is only courteous." Tela snapped by way of greeting.
Kadire went over to the two that had just arrived and greeted them. " Glad you could make it and don't worry the meeting hasn't started yet", she said to them. She shot a look at Tela but said nothing. Do not let the stuffy arrogant attitudes of the Istan weyrleaders get to you mine. Her dragon spoke to her. She smiled at her dragons words and continued to listen to the conversations of others.
"But." Miya began to protest but another weyleader came in. ~This isn't fair, they are being sharding rude and deserve to be punished themselves.~ She then heard what Tela had to say. ~They are the ones that need to learn there place. Saying such thing, especially when inside that weyr.~
Reinath snorted. If I were large enough then they would fear me. Then they wouldn't even think about insulting us.
The two sat back down, glaring at Tela and Hethea.
Thank you Kaith. Atiaisth replied as she and Kinoith setlled down. I do hope this meeting turns out well.
T'sor nodded in greeting to the Dark Moon Weyrleaders, for the moment ignoring the others. "No, I believe neither I nor Lezay have met either of you, but the pleasure is ours at the moment." He replied. "I am happy that at least someone has the sense to welcome us kindly. I am T'sor of bronze Kinoith."
"And I Lezay of Atiaisth. Thank you for excusing our lateness." Igen's Weyrwoman replied, though her eyes were darting to Tela.
"Perhaps we could have, but we were obviously not too late. Besides, no harm has been done, and our Junior Queens have other business this time of Turn. I see that you are well Tela?" The last was said sweetly, to counter her rather un-needed reply. "I trust that all the Weyrs are doing well?" She added to those around her.
((i would prefer not to have any HADs....tell me your idea via pm and i might consider it but otherwise no....and please dont be offended))
If you were large enough my impudent daughter, you would have hopefully gained some wisdom. My chosen is being very lenient with you and your rider so I suggest that you remember that and not cause any more embarrassment to this weyr. Kaith's voice sounded in the junior Queen's head.
It is my hope that you are all well my brothers and sisters. Kaith returned to her guests.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tela hid her look of disgust. They were all taken in by these young upstarts! "I am well and Ista is flourishing." She said curtly and excused herself. She was annoyed that she had to ask a drudge to show her to the ladies' room and returned in a huff.

Reinath relayed what her mother said to her mine.
~Parents.~ Miya said simply.
Ok, I heard you. Reinath said like a rebellious teenager.

ooc|| Not offended at all and no problem. Just a little idea but whatever.
Bic|| Hathea was completely appaled at the girl's attitude. "Do you want to insult your Weyr as you have done? You really should learn your place," she hissed. She angrilly darted her head at the arriving two. She calmed and skipped to them, trying to hid her distaste for Miya. "Hello to you too," she said, first shaking the woman's hand and then the man. She looked up at him after and D'nyr angrilly stared.
"She better not-" he started.

Sh'iron greeted each Weyrleader. He excused himself right during Miya's outburst and came back right before the Igen pair arrived. He smiled and glared at Tela. All that was left were the Telgar Weyrleaders. Not bad. But he had to get this meeting started soon. IN his mind he ran over what the topics were. He knew that this wasn't going to be fun.
------
Falnor smiled and gave a little cheer in her head for the young Queenrider. If Benden was insulted, she would have done the same. At the arrivel of The Igen couple, she smiled broadly. Well this meeting was going to be different.
-------
Nike was getting bored. She couldn't stand it. Waiting here for the Telgar pair to arrive. Come on Ruanth, I can't stand this. The young whiterider said leading the little dragon across the bowl towards the Hatching Grounds. Where are we going? There is an entrance to the Lower Caverens from the Hatching Grounds. That's how the Candidate's get there. We are going to go through that hall and wait near the back of the Caverens listening to what is going on. As the Healer trotted, she hoped that the dragons wouldn't spot her and Ruanth. After all, the little white could be seen quite clearly on the gold sands.

Christae was a bit disappointed that Sh'iron had missed Miya's outburst. She thought that the girl might obey him more than her.
When she heard Hathae's words Christae lost her temper. Her voice was calm and left no reason for the High Reaches woman to find any fault but the coldness in her tone was evident. "I will deal with MY riders in MY weyr according to MY rules Weyrwoman Hathae of High Reaches. You may rule supreme in your own Weyr, but here the riders are under My jurisdiction. I will or will not punish as I see fit. I would appreciate it if you kept your suggestions to yourself. If I were in your place, I would let you deal with your own riders accordingly but you are a guest in Dark Moon Weyr, not the other way around."
Well said love. ~Thank you, though I don't think Sh'iron will be too happy with me. Hopefully Myranenth will fill him in on what happened so he won't be too mad at me.~ Christae hurriedly broke off contact with her dragon as another contraction took hold of her and she struggled to keep her expression level.

Lezay shot T'sor a look that told him to keep quiet at the High Reaches Weyrwoman's words. Personally, no one had any right to speak against Dark Moon before their own Weyrwoman spoke up and officially began the meeting.
"It's good to know." T'sor replied absently, dropping Hathea's gaze a little uneasily.
Much as it was concealed, Lezay did catch sight of the sudden change in Christae's appearance. Well, it was only for a moment, but the Igen Weyrwoman took the chance to step closer to the young woman.
"Is everything all right?" She asked gently.

Christae's voice was soft as she answered Lezay. "I am fine. Please don't make a big deal about that. It was only a moment of pain, nothing more. I don't want Sh'iron worrying needlessly."
