Christae leaned against Kaith's sun-warmed hide as she waited for the Weyrlings to assemble in the Weyrling Court. She had had the gold call the young dragonriders out to attend a lesson and hear an announcement. The Weyr was doing well in their games and the day of the Weyrleaders' meeting drew nearer by the day.
The Weyrwoman sighed as she felt her baby kick. The little one had been kicking often lately and the old weyrfolk predicted a boy. Girls, they said, were calmer. She did not care either way if she had a girl or a boy and she had never thought to ask Sh'iron what he hoped their child would be. Christae couldn't help but think of the two months left in her term. She would be able to ride Kaith again. Even though she was not having twins like Rhia, Nike had warned her against flying on the great golden Queen as a precaution.
The weyr had received word from P'ren saying that he would not be able to return. His arthritis was bothering him too much and he would stay at Southern with his sister's kin. His dragon was enjoying his leisure time. Christae had regretted losing such a knowledgable rider but she could call upon him as needed.
P'ren had recommended a younger rider in his stead. The bronzerider was a transfer rider who had come recently. When P'ren heard that the young man was at Dark Moon he had recommended that G'age be his successor. He said that he had helped teach the Weyrlings in another weyr so he was not as green as those in Dark Moon. Christae had called the Weyrlings and notified G'age and his bronze of the time of the meeting. She had bidden everyone to meet in the Weyrling Court. Hopefully after the announcement, G'age would give his first lesson.

The older queen wishes us to meet her. Reinath reported to her mine. ~Then let us go.~ Miya said. She walked into the meeting with Reinath at her heels. "Christae, Kaith." Miya said in an emotionless tone. Sr. WEyrwoman and Sr. Queen. Reinath said in the same tone, never truly getting used to using first names. The two walked off to the side and waited to see who else would come and when.

K'dan arrived at the weyrling court. He wasn't his normally cheerful self having heard the news about Nike and D'ran from Miya. He stood silently with his head hung as he waited to see what this was about. Hydrath stood next to him looking up at him with a sad expression. The weyrling hadn't said anything since Miya told him, not even to his own bonded.

Kia scuffled in. She was still a little shook up from a couple days ago. She absolutely despised Miya. No more chances and no more kindness. Her eyes were half closed but she saw K'dan away from the rest of the epople. She also backed away from the other two. She wasn't exactly in the mood to talk. Kylath came in now. she had been waking Tokagae so he would get off her.

Nike walked in. Her hair was pulled up and her face emotionless. Her left arm was still in a sling, but was getting better. Zim and Crystal were sleeping on the rim. Ruanth was close to Nike's leg and eyed Kaith closely.
Nike had been thinking. She had told D'ran that she was not ready for a weyrmate. Not until Ruanth was fully mature. Which, deep down, Nike didn't want to happen. She hoped that Ruanth would be immature, like Ruth. She hoped her white wouldn't mate. But she wasn't sure. Green eyes looked to K'dan in the back of the court. She had to tell him, tell him she was not ready, and mabey never would be. Even though Tirith had flown once, and Nike spet some 'time' with R'dan, she didn't want it to happen.
The Weyrling sighed and rubbed the back of her neck, then turned to look at Christae. Mabey P'ren was back. No. They are not. We are getting a new MAster. Ruanth said, a little happily. How do you know? The little ones tell me. Nike shrugged then turned her full attention on Christae.

Christae raised her eyebrow. Miya's greeting, she could shrug off. She had been pushing the girl hard and she had a feeling the younger Queenrider did not like it. K'dan and Kia had not even come to greet her. Usually they at least bowed or nodded their heads in greeting.
~Kaith, love, can you tell what is wrong?~ Christae asked.
I do not want to pry beloved.
~Ok.~
Christae sighed. She figured it was too much to hope for harmony in the weyr. She ran a hand through her brown hair and shifted against her Queen. She saw Nike walk in and greeted the whiterider.
"Hello Nike, Ruanth."

Nike nodded to her Weyrwoman. "Hello Christae." She said, then added after a pause. "Ruanth sends her greetings too." The Healer rested her right hand on Ruanth's head, and strached her eye ridges.

Christae smiled. "How are you doing?" She asked the pair.
Greetings Healer. Greetings White dragon Ruanth. Kaith said, oddly formal.

Miya watched others come in. She noticed K'dan was unhappy, but what could one expect. She didn't blame herself and just went on to see who else was here. Kia also looked unhappy but she was currently enraged from earlier when the copper rider refused to leave, while she was meeting with T'rin. It may have not remained a metting for long, but still. Then came Nike and Ruanth. She couldn't tell why Nike looked unhappy. Maybe the healer was feeling sorry for K'dan since she had chosen D'ran. I heard a rumor that Nike has chosen neither. Probably because the pathetic white won't ever mature. Reinath stated, watching the white. ~Hush, Reinath. Have you forgotten Nike can here dragons. WE can't let her hear you saying things like that about her white. Especially when we are at a meeting or when Christae is near. Which both are true at the moment. I do not need Christae keeping an eye on me, she is cranky enough. Probably because she is pregnant.~ Miya stated, her dark eyes turning to look at the weyrwoman. I thought you said she was cranky when you were a candidate. Reinath inquired. ~Yes, well she is just being more cranky then normal.~ Miya replied after a pause.

K'dan glanced over at Nike but turned away. He looked up at the weyrwoman and tried to give her a hello smile but couldn't manage. He instead looked at her and nodded a hello. Hydrath stood next to his rider eyeing him, making sure he would be ok.

Christae returned K'dan's nod of greeting and stood tapping her foot impatiently. The Weyrlings would have to be taught a lesson about being prompt.

B’kin arrived at the Weyrling Court out of breath. The Weyrling had been about as far from the Weyrling Court as possible when Christae had relayed the message. He had to run to get there somewhat on time. The Weyrwoman looked rather annoyed; she was tapping her foot… Ronoth arrived not too long after his rider, and glanced at the Weyrwoman before bowing a bit awkwardly. B’kin grinned sheepishly, “Sorry for not getting here on time…”

D'ran ran into the Weyrling Court not long after B'kin. Aureth was leaping after him. "Sorry I am late," he said as greeting to Christae and then backed a bit away from everyone else. Aureth curled up by D'ran's feet and took a long stare at each individual.

Christae looked up when the two entered one after each other. "You are excused." She said curtly. She was beyond annoyed now with the other weyrlings. If they did not arrive within the next few minutes they would be given chores as punishment. Z'nir, Z'phyr, Abriana, T'rin and Adrian were missing. K'rael had been informed of the contents of the meeting. He was ill and excused from the lesson.

B’kin sighed with relief; the weyrling bowed slightly to the Weyrwoman before saying, “I promise I won’t be late again.” He backed away and sat down with Ronoth to wait for whatever they were waiting for. Everyone seemed unusually quiet…

G'age was taking his time, waiting for all of them. It seemed this was all they would have. "Christae?" He asked, stepping from behind her, Gendilith next to him. The bronze let a hum of annoyment ring in G'age's ear. Stop trying to act important, you're not that special! he snapped, swiching his tail. G'age raised a brow at the dragon, his eyes never leaving Christae. -Whatever you say, great Bronze- He snapped. The bronze huffed agagin, and chose to ignore the arrogant tone in G'age's voice.

Christae looked up when G'age walked in. "It is about time you decided to make an appearance." She snapped at the bronzerider. "There are still a few weyrlings missing but they will be counted late or absent and will be given punish chores. Only K'rael is excused. I leave it to you to introduce yourself and your dragon."
Christae turned to the weyrlings who were present. "I regret to inform you that P'ren, our former Weyrlingmaster has resigned." A smile crossed her face. "I don't know how your new master will be but count yourselves lucky that you didn't have to go through P'ren's classes. This is your new teacher, G'age of bronze Gendilith. You will show him respect and not cause trouble or I will hear about it. Now if you will excuse me, I have things to attend to. G'age, good luck. I leave them to you."

Kia raised her eye at G'age. She hadn't really learned much about him from their little talk but she wasn't /too/ concerned. After all, he was not the legendary P'ren.

D'ran looked down at Aureth. ~Wonder what this guy is like.~ Aureth snorted a bit to show he heard but didn't have anything to say.

K'dan looked at the new weyrling master. He didn't want to cast judgement on him saying if he would be easy or not to take lessons under. He would just go to weyrling lessons and deal with it. He noticed some of the weyrlings were not here and Christae was upset. He made note not ever to be late. Christae seemed real irritable, though as would be expected with a pregnant woman. He wouldn't cause trouble in the least, as it was he wasn't in the mood for talking so that lessened his chances even more of being the cause of any trouble.

Miya examined the new weyrling master, but she wasn't quite sure what to think about him. All I know about him is that he is younger. Reinath stated. Miya wasn't really listening she quickly ran up to Christae before the weyrwoman left. "Christae, how long will Reinath and I be able to participate in the lessons? 'Cause arn't there things that we can't learn since Reinath is a queen?" she asked. Reinath walked up to her mine's leg and snorted unhappy with the comment. ~No offense, Reinath but you ARE a queen.~ Miya stated. Reinath gave a mental sigh, knowing that this was true.
