D'ran realized Christae was planning to speak. He waved over the people still talking and got confortable. [glow=blue,2,300]Ruanth, do you know what this is abou-[/glow]The dragon stopped when Christae began. D'ran made sure to stay quiet and listened but he didn't believe his ears. Why learn about Thread? It was turns away.
~|~|~
Kia looked over to Christae, still steaming. Kylath had given up on her rider and sat up straight. [shadow=red,left,300]Here that, Mine, I am the first of my kind.[/shadow]~I've told you that before, Kylath.~ [shadow=red,left,300]I forgot.[/shadow]Kia sighed and continued to listen.

Christae nodded at her weyrmate. She had not wanted to break the news of thread herself. She had never gotten a straight answer from him about whether they wanted to tell their riders beforehand. She cleared her throat and prepared to speak again when Sh'iron finished.
"Riders of Dark Moon Weyr. Our worst fears are coming through. Many of you believed that you would only be the ones to train the riders who would face Thread. You believed that you would be in your graves beforehand. Thread was not supposed to fall for another 60 Turns."
"Now you must realize that it will be you who will be faced with the deadly silver rain that threatens our beloved planet. It is you who will risk your lives to save others. You are the heroes of Pern. You and your beloved dragons. Some of you will be hurt. Some of you may even be killed, but if we work together. If we learn our lessons. If we train and if we persevere, WE will TRIUMPH. We will NOT be defeated by our ancient enemy. We and our dragons will rise flaming and sear this menace from the skies of Pern."
She finished her speech, bringing her fist down onto the table. "Will we be defeated by Thread? Will we lie down and allow our planet to be ravished by this atrocity?" A few of the riders looked at her with confusion.
"Well? Will we?" She waited for their reply.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rhia stood. "No!" She cried. A few other riders stood and joined her. "No!" They cried. The dragons let out a tumultous roar, shaking the very walls of the cavern.
[glow=red,2,300]We will rise to flame. We will meet our ancient enemy and we will triumph. [/glow] The dragons chanted as one.
G'han stood up proudly and shouted, "NO!!!!!!! WE WILL WIN!!!!!!! WE ARE THE DRAGON RIDERS OF DARK MOON!!!! WE WILL PREVAIL!!!!!!!!!! WE WILL NOT FAIL OUR, FRIENDS, OUR FAMILY, OUR BONDED DRAGONS, ALL THE PEOPLE OF THIS PLANET!!!!!!!!". Gerenanth shouted almost the same thing with as much ferocity as his rider.
K'dan stood up and shouted, "I BELIEVE WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!". Hydrath stood up and shouted along with the others, booming perhaps more loudly with his voice than some of the others.
D'ran looked at the few riders. He looked up and then stood. "No! We will persevere and be the heroes of tomorrow and we will live to see the next day," he shouted, almost poetically though how loud it was. Aureth also stodd proudly. [glow=blue,2,300]We dragons will destroy the Thread and not let the silver rain destroy Pern![/glow] ~|~|~
Kia stayed in her seat while the others yelled. She allowed them to cheer themselves on and continued sitting. Kylath snorted with discontempt and stood. [shadow=red,left,300]We will triumph![/shadow]Kia was a bit suprised. She slowly stood and took a deep breath. "We will win," she shouted.
Miya grumbled under her breath. You are unhappy beccause I cannot flame, right? Reinath asked unahppily. ~Yes, I am sorry but I really do.~ Miya replied with a sigh. DO not worry, on my back the two of us shall destroy as much, if not more, thread than anyone else. Reinath bugled triumphantly with the other. ~I suppose.~ Miya said seeing everyone was shouting. "FOR DARK MOON WEYR, AND OUR DRAGONS.~ Miya shouted to join the others.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"WE WILL SAVE PERN." Nira shouted. WE WILL DESTROY THE THREAT. Siarath bugled. ~You are enjoying this arn't you.~ Nira asked. Only the yelling part. Siarath grinned though one could not see for the green wasn't there.

That odd, timid smile darted warily across K'rael's features once more, and he started to stammer something about how he couldn't call the things to mind, but they had surprised him... And then the Weyrwoman stood, with clear intentions of speaking. He lapsed into silence once more (not a rare condition for this youth) and fixed his eyes on a point in the wall near Christae's head. When she mentioned upcoming Weyr Games, and a weyrling division, he heard that more than he heard her words about the coming weyrleaders. His flush subsided, and his face grew pale; dark green eyes stark in his features. Ioneth stretched out his neck to give K'rael a reassuring nudge...and the weyrwoman spoke again. As she continued, his complexion grew even lighter, and his hands (which were clenched in his lap) twined tightly together.
Thread. They were going to have to face Thread. His features were now a pasty white; clearly not the hue that they were meant to be, and he had to bite his lip fiercely to avoid a moan escaping. When most of the riders and weyrlings sprang to their feet, he clambered glumly to his; swaying slightly. Ioneth, however, was practically glowing; a vibrant sapphire hide that stood out even among his peers. "Oh, no..." K'rael groaned under his breath, as he tried to mutter the same confident nonsense that the rest of the assembled weyrdwellers were bellowing. His blue gave a roar which startled the trembling youth considerably. His fingers tightened on the edge of the table, and he tried to look as sure as the rest but...that awful doubt was there. You can be so silly sometimes Ioneth snapped. Of course we will do it. Of course we will fight Thread. It is what we were meant to do! Somehow, that didn't seem too reassuring.

This wasn't something unexpected, after all you always have to expect the unexpected but still, it came to a great blow. Akki raised her arm to the air, and force once in her life she didn't yell but spoke clearly and said, "Not only for us and the dragons. But for everything we have known as each minute, day and turn passes, that is what we will save!". Ebbeth added his own silent bugle to the rants and words of hope, and yet something seemed wrong to him. Akki seemed to be contemplating with herself, back at her hold her motto was 'Hope was the denial of reality'. Only now did she wish that her motto was nothing more than words, for right now they would need more hope than they ever needed before. [glow=blue,2,300]Hope is the denial of? No, it is not Akkimine. [/glow]Ebbeth snorted with amusement before continuing [glow=blue,2,300]We have to keep trying and hoping. Yes, the trying and hoping is the most important of all right now[/glow] Akki let a small numb smile cross her face as she agreed, but still her thoughts wandered back to that saying.

Christae sighed with relief. The riders had bought the "inspirational" speech. The fact that Thread was coming would truly sink in later but now there was less of a chance of them going into shock.
She raised her hands for silence. Kaith finally had to loose an ear-spitting bellow. "Sh'iron and I expect each and every one of you to put aside your differences for the good of the Weyr. I want to see you all give this your all. You will never know when you will be called upon to exhibit your skills. Make us proud!" She remained standing as chaos erupted again, neighbors speaking to each other and even shouting across the cavern.

Akki had to smile with amusement at this. Did Christae think that they would not give it their all? Of course they would, judging from the speeches and words of encouragement that seemed to come from every corner of the room. The differences being put aside would be a little different though, but it still would be accomplished...well, she hoped it would be anyways. She looked around and thought to herself, how many of these people would actually realize the threat of the Thread before the meeting was over, putting a stop to the shouts?

G'han looked across the room. He had no worries at all, no doubts. He knew each one would do good. He was proud and had confidence in his friends. He smiled remembering the first day he came here, hardly knowing anyone. Now he knew and was on good terms with quite a few in the weyr. Most he would call friends. He would work his wing especially hard and work with the other wingleaders.

Christae let the noise die down. "Sh'iron do you have anything else to say?" She leaned her hands against the table so that some of her weight was against the table. She envied Rhia who was able to sit down. Christae had called for refreshments for the meeting, a supper actually since the riders would be missing their own supper to attend the meeting. The drudges began to pass out platters at Christae's nod.

"Nope, I think we got the message to them. Atleast now G'han won't have time to train." Sh'iron said taking a mug of klah. "But everyone will be getting fit with all the firestone bag throwing and lifting, and everything." He grinned and took a sip from his mug.

G'han began eating the food. Something told him this wasn't nearly over with. He ate and watched the weyrleaders, seeing what would happen next. ~Gerenanth since we might have to fight thread I am going to exercise you more often. That means I might have to cut down a bit on K'dan and D'rans training though I don't think they will have as much time as before either. That just means I will have to work them and myself as well, harder~, he spoke to his dragon. Gerenanth was excited now, since G'han started training the two weyrlings he didn't spend as much time exercising him. Now he would be exercised alot more often. He would be the best.

Christae sat down with a greatful sigh. "Knowing that bronzerider he will think that this is a reason to train harder. He will see. He won't be able to do any extra training. He will have enough to worry about with Rhia pregnant and his Wingleader duties as well as Thread training now. Will you have a Wingleader meeting afterwards?" She took a warm roll and began tearing off pieces and eating them.

Sh'iron took his seat and nodded. "Yes, Wingleader and Wingsecond meeting." He said with a smile. The Weyrleader turned to his mate then rested his hand on her stomach. "How is our child?" He asked her with a little smile.

"After they have eaten we will dismiss the Wingriders and the Weyrlings. We will have to reprimand those who did not attend the meeting." She said, even though she disliked having to reprimand riders, it was important that they obey their Weyrleaders. If something like that happened during Threadfall it would mean the death of the other riders.
"Growing more boisterous by the day." She chuckled and smiled tenderly at him. She rested her long-fingered hand over his. "Three more months." She paused and then turned to look into his eyes. "Sh'iron, do you want the baby to be a boy or a girl?" Her voice was soft.

Miya popped some food into her mouth. Her eyes scanned over the other riders as she did so.

Nira didn't seem to be doing anything but eating. THis was because she was conversing with Siarath.

D'ran stood and walked to the weyrleaders. "Christae, what day will we actually begin training," he asked. Aureth groaned, wanting a snack. He 'stood' and put his forelegs on the table. The Blue stole a meat roll and happily munched it. It wasn't all that clean, though. He knocked a lot of food off of the plates and moved just about everything in the vicinity.

Kia sat down hunched over. Kylath turned away and slowly fell asleep. he Weyrling took a bit of food and ate her anger away.

Christae looked up. She smiled. "Hello D'ran. How are you and Aureth? You will begin your triaining tomorrow." She told him.
She lowered her voice so that only she, her weyrmate and the young weyrling Weyrsinger could hear. "I hope you have not neglected your Harper training. Gathers will start soon and we may hold one here, but don't tell anyone else."

D'ran smiled a bit sheepishly. "I do admit that my skills have diminished a bit," he said. Aureth came up with meat hanging from his teeth. "Aureth," D'ran complained, rolling his eyes. "Well I am good and Aureth is a mess," he said. ~Up for training tomorrow?~ Aureth smiled and nodded.
((Is this before or after G'han asked to learn to play the flute and sing?))
