"I will beat you all and rub it in your faces."Akki lied boldly as she laid on the waters surface. She didn't swim when she was younger, there was never any time to do with all the chorse and people who needed help. "Wait, is this a race where you have to stay underwater the whole time? Or is it above water?"She asked. She slightly hoped it was under the water, she could hold her breath for a long time, courtesy of her father leaving rotting food somewhere she had to clean up and unable to locate the probably moudly used-to-be food.

Kia laughed heartily. "Bold talk for somebody about to be beat. Not just beat, though, beat by me," she shouted triumphantly.

"Harrumph."Akki said, treading water as she stuck her nose up haughtily into the water. Of course she had to discourage Kia from bragging anymore, not from being mean of though more of wanting her friend to be saved from a serious dunking that would happen if she didn't stop, even though she was joking. She smiled boldly and said, "Oh Kia, are you sure you can concentrate. You know who is also in the contest, and we all know you can't stop staring!". She snickered and winked at her friend, to show she was only jesting.

Kia put her plan into action. She simply stuck her tongue out. "I don't even have to concentrate; I am that good," she said. By now she was certainly kidding. She kept her eyes peeled, not letting Akki move without her doing so as well.

"Kia, you never concentrate. I am sorry to tell you this but it's true."Akki said, spluttering with laughter. Her friend walked herself into that one all alone, Akki didn't even need to prod her towards that line. She laid on her back, still chuckling lightly as she watched the others stretched for the race, wondering if she should do so too even though she was pretty stretched out already.

Kia laughed loudly. "You call that a retort? Pa-lease, I am way smarted then you are. When I do give my full attention I am so smart I can read minds. You are thinking... purple. You may not think you are but it is subconcious," Kia said proudly. She sat back and floated.

"Purple? Really? I thought I was more of an orange kind of girl. I suppose my subconcious knows me best though."She said with a shrug and a heavy sigh before closing her eyes, but not before seeing Kia lay on her back also. Lazily opening her eye again she asjed, "Kia, are you copying me?".

Kia cocked her head and then put it back down. "Copy? No, I am just saving my energy so I can proceed to beat you in several races," she said grinning. Tokagae flew to her stomach and layed on her like she was an island.

Amparath surfaced and bugled in his little dragonet way. He had won! He swam victory laps, but then noticed that Kylath was pouting. He swam over to her, forgetting to gloat and feeling rather bad that she was feeling bad, and nuzzled her under her chin. Do not worry, I am sure you will win other times. We are both very strong. He raised his whirling blue eyes to hers. I will not hold this against you.
T'rin laughed at Kia and Akki, who were bantering back and forth. Girls! Well, he supposed he wasn't any better than they were when it came to witty banter.
((lol we have this thing in my mass media class... "witty banter".... you'd have to hear it to think it's funny... anyway... lol....))

Kylath shook her head and then held it high. [shadow=red,left,300]I let you win.[/shadow]She grinned slightly and turned to him. In the leagnth of a couple seconds, Kylath rammed into Ampareth.

Nike chuckled at Akki and Kia. "Ah, but your bickering will be your downfall you two!" She said evily. "I have the greatest plan that will make me win, not matter what!" The white rider gave an evil, laugh that started out soft, then it got louder.

"Kia, after the length of how long we have been friends I have learned not to trust anything you say."Akki declared as she glared at her friend merrily before going back to treading water. "Anyways, you couldn't beat me in even half a race my friend."Akki said, knowing it was a lie but she didn't care.

Kia shrugged and continued to flat. Tokagae chirped happily, content where he was and not wanting her to sit up. The Weyrling glanced up at him and then put her hair back in the water. "Just keep telling yourselves that," she said grinning.

"I will Kia, I promise that!"Akki declared before pumping her fist into the air and said, "Kia can't beat me at even a half a race.". She continued her cheer for a bit, before her arm started to get sore and she stopped but she still grinned wildly.

Kia grinned broadly. "Akki, if it were half the race than it would be the whole race. Only half the race there is no winner unless it is the whole race instead of half the race. Get that," she asked.

Akki paused for a moment, repeating the line over once in her head before she replied simply, "I do get that. You're saying that half a race isn't a race because at half the race there isn't a winner because only full races have winners so the half of the race wouldn't have a winner so there for the half of a race wouldn't have a winner so I couldn't beat you.". Yes, that sounded right she thought as she revised her sentence. All these races could mess up ones vocabulary.

Kia sat up, much to the dislike of Tokagae. He flew off and sat in the sand. "You have it wrong. Half of a race had no winner because it is half and not the whole race. If half of the race had a winner it would be the whole race which would mean that it wasn't half a race because it the whole race," she said, grinning.

"Kia, that's exactly what I said. Are you getting confused?"Akki asked her friend as Sargon cherped at Tokagae, flying around his bonded's head. [glow=blue,2,300]You humans are odd, who cares about half of a race?[/glow] Ebbeth said, joyously slinking over to his mine as he watched Sargon. Ebbeth was always amused by the mini dragon.

"No," she shouted, "You said, 'half of the race wouldn't have a winner so there for the half of a race wouldn't have a winner so I couldn't beat you.'" Kia grinned proudly.

"Exactly! Half of a race wouldn't have a winner for only full races can have that. It's exactly what you said but phrased differently."Akki pointed out, ignoring her blues comment. Ebbeth stifled a groan, this was getting to confusing now.
