Nike grinned at K'dan and Hydrath.
Ruanth looked smug and looked up at her Mine.
"I'm sorry. She is really fussy about her hide. Once there was only one speck of dirt on her neck, and she made me
clean her whole body!" NIke said grumbling.

D'ran walked to K'dan.
"You seemed embarassed about not having one so I-" he trailed off.
Aureth's eyes whirled with green.

D'ran sighed, knowing it would be time to clean Aureth once they ate.

"C'mon. Let's go eat. Atleast then I can rest from just washing Ruanth." Nike said shaking her head and walked out of the room with her white walking after her. Zim and Crystal still attached to her back.

Kia was happy they were going to eat now.
She hadn't eaten much the night before and was hungry.

"It's ok. I'm just not use to gettin or giving gifts for birthdays. Where I came from we were very poor so that was a rare occasion. Normally my mom cooked me a nice meal or something so that's why I asked Kia if she wanted to go eat. A force of habit", he said to D'ran. "And don't worry about it Nike I was just joking. Hydrath is a very demanding dragon himself", he said to her to try and make her feel better. Hello Aureth. How are you and your mine doing today?

Nike grinned and led the way to the Lower Caverens. Ruanth tortted beside her with a dragonic grin on her face.
The Master Healer was grumbling about her dragon and being clean. She knew a lot about dragons.
Living in a Weyr, and being a dragon, and human surgan taught you a lot about healing.
There was never a dull moment.

Kia overheard what K'dan said and smiled reassuringly.
"My family was also poor. You normally wouldn't get a gift. For one birthingday my parents would get a great gift. I think I got Tokagae when I was 12 turns old," she said.

K'dan felt relieved when he realized he wasn't the only one who came from a poor family. Hm your mine is enjoying himself. I wish my mine could. He is always so tense and uptight. He needs to loosen up and have some fun. He especially needs to loosen up when there are girls around or else he will never find a mate. ~Hydrath!!!!! Shut up and don't say things like that again!!!~, K'dan was shocked at his dragon's words and turned red.

Christae smiled. She was glad that the others had come. She could tell that Kia had been expecting to be alone. "Well will we move this show to the dining cavern? I took the liberty of ordering a special breakfast for Kia."

Akki ran into the room where the others were and threw her arms around Kias neck and said loudly "Oh Kia, I am so sorry I am late. Happy birthingday!". It was true too, she was deeply sorry she wasn't there sooner but she had to get food for Sargon or else he would not be quiet and would be come rather destructive.
She handed a small box to Kia, hoping her friend would like it. It took her a long time to think of what to get her but in the end she made a small picture of Tokagae and the small copper. She was please with how it turned out, it took her the longest time to get each detail but it was worth it.

Kia opened the box and smiled. "Thank-you Akki," she said. it was too late now to put it on her bed, though, so she just held it. Tokagae and Kylath both stayed near the Weyrling.

B’kin heard Kia yelp. “Sorry Kia, Happy Birthingday!” He said again. He followed the others to the Lower Caverns for breakfast.
Ronoth had just arrived at Kia’s room as the others began to leave; the bronze dragon sighed and followed his mine and the others. ~Hopefully you’ll stay in the Lower Caverns long enough for me to actually get there before you guys leave.~ Ronoth said grumpily.
The weyrling watched Akki give Kia a gift. He’d forgotten her birthday; he didn’t have a gift for her. He searched his pockets and found several marks that he’d gotten for his birthingday. It was strange actually having money. B’kin pulled the marks from his pocket and handed them to Kia. “Happy birthingday,” he said for the third time. He glanced over to R’dan to see if he was going to give Kia a present.

R’dan didn’t have a present for Kia, “I wish I could give something but I don’t have a single mark right now.” It was true; he’d spent what little marks he had to pay for the new pair of riding boots, which he had needed. He thought for a moment, “Tell you what, when Kylath gets bigger and you need help washing her, I’ll help if you need it.”

Kia put the marks in her box so she didn't lose them and thanked B'kin.
She looked at R'dan and said, "I'm not used to getting so many gifts but you better hold true on your promise."
She had a mock scowl to tell him, in a joking way, she was serious.

R’dan held up his hands to show he wasn’t crossing his fingers or anything, “I promise I’ll help you.” He glanced over to notice B’kin stick out his tongue at him and laugh. “Though, you could say B’kin’s marks were also from me, B’kin wouldn’t have known it was your birthingday if it wasn’t for me.”
B’kin heard this. “HEY! No fair!” he yelled.

See mine someone else didn't get her a present either. K'dan watched Kia open all her gifts, all were very nice. "Thanks for covering for me D'ran. I promise to repay the favor one day", he said to his friend.

Christae smiled and led the way to the lower caverns, checking to see that all was in order. She had done some snooping and had found out Kia's favorite foods and told Headwoman Uslanee to cook them.

Nike grinned when she entered the Caverens. The smell was great.
"You out did yourself today Uslanee." The said walking past the Headwoman as she went to laden her plate with food.
She hadn't eaten for awhile, due to taking care of Ruanth and the Weyr. It was nice being a DragonHealer.
Atleast the dragons didn't ask questions about her healing, only the riders.
BUt the riders weren't as bad as the Weyrfolk. They didn't trust her.
But she was a Master. Well still she wasn't good with child birth.
That was Fallnor's job. He would have to diliver Christae's and Rhia's children.
Nike was good with other things. Like open wounds, brokenbones, or anything bloody.
Not screaming babes.

Uslanee smiled. "Well, Christae asked me to cook something nice for the Weyrling so I did."
Christae filled her plate and sat to eat. They would not be using the high table today. They would all sit as equals like they had done before the hatching.

Nike grinned. "Do it more often." She said then took a seat. Zim and Crystal perched on the backs of the chairs next to her.
One for D'ran, the other for K'dan. Ruanth curled up and took her spot at the Nike's feet.
Nike smiled as she started eating. It was a great breakfast! And the klah was so fresh!

D'ran filled the plate with food of almost every kind.
Every time Ruanth got washed she would convince Aureth to, as well.
He really didn't get much time now that he had a dragon.
Still, he loved Aureth.
As 'ran got his food, Aureth walked over to a chair next to Nike and stuffed himself by one of the legs.

D'ran found Aureth and sat down, begining to eat.

Kia waggled her finger at B'kin and R'dan but with a smile.
"Shame on you both. Well, let's go eat," she said.
She quickly filled her plate with a lot of food and found a spot across from Nike.
Hopefully her closest friends in the Weyr would come sit with her.
She had made quite a few friends at the Weyr.
At home all her friends were working all day and she was always alone.
Of course, Tokagae was always there.
She was happy she had made friends and her closest were both Riders.
Perhaps that could have it's advantages.
