Christae had gone to her weyr to change after a healer had seen to her arm. It was bandaged, and showed because her gown was sleeveless. She sat on her bed and sighed. Sh'iron was being tended to now. She wished she had his solid presence with her now. She wore a pale beige gown that fit her skinny frame well. She had pulled her brown hair up with a clip and left a few strands hanging down.
Nike had complicated things by cutting open the egg that should have never hatched. Christae was glad for the girl, but there were two new colors in the Weyr and a Junior Queen to tend to, as well as the other new hatchlings. The old dragonhealer had heard of Ruth, Jaxom's white, well rainbow, dragon but there had never been another occurance after Ramoth had laid Ruth's egg. Now Kaith had laid an egg that had hatched out a silvery white creature. It was so tiny. The Dragonhealer did not know if it would live. She would hate for Nike to have to endure the death of another dragon. It was unfathomable.
Christae knew that she should get down to the Hatching feast, but she was worried. She didn't know how to tell Nike that her dragonet might die. She was not ready to face the questions of the holders. Nor was she ready to face the giddy excitement of the families of the newly Impressed. It was, however, her duty. Today was supposed to be a happy occasion, and it was, but it was also worrying for the young Weyrwoman. She waited a few minutes longer, hoping her weyrmate would return.

Miya looked at her new queen who stood right before her. ~Are you sure you want to come?~ she asked the oiled gold. Yes, I want everyone to know that I am the new Jr. Queen. Reinath replied stretching her body to make herself seem larger. ~Fine then, let me get dressed and we will go.~ Miya snorted. ~I hate wearing formal clothing.~ She stated. I don't understand why humans force yourselves to wear uncomfortable and ichy covering. Reineth stated. Miya sighed as she pulled on a black tunic and a short black skirt. Underneath she slipped on black shorts. Why did you put clothing under your clothing? The queen asked. ~Because I despise open bottoms such as dresses and skirts.~ Miya stated as she brushed her hair out.

Kia smiled as her family congragulated her.
[shadow=red,left,300]Who are they?![/shadow] ~My family Kylath. Let me introduce you.~
Kia took a step back and looked at her famile. "Okay, this is Kylath, everybody."
"It's a pleasure," said Kia's dad. Her sister bent down and pattet the Copper on the nose. "They are sooo big," she said happily.
[shadow=red,left,300]I like that, conitnue.[/shadow] "Ok, everybody, we need to go change," Kia said, trying to take authority. The family all went and got dressed in the clothes.

Kadan was a bit dissapointed that his family didn't make it. He knew it was a possibility. His family was so poor and spent most of their time just simply trying to survive. He sighed but understood. He went to go change into something a bit more formal. When he was done he spoke to his dragon, "Hydrath let's go. There is a feast for the new weyrlings I believe". I don't know if I want to go. "There will be plenty of food and you can make new friend and see your clutch siblings", he said to the tiny blue. Food, I will come. The dragon said hurriedly. K'dan laughed and headed to the feast.

Sh'iorn walked into the Queen's Weyr. Myranenth was watching Kaith feed out in the Bowl. A small white patch was on her tan cheek. He was still wearing his hatching clothes, but they were slightly dirty. Today was supposed to be a hppy day, but so many things had happened.
His face was sad, and troubled. What were they going to do now? Nike's Ruanth was going to die. It was small than Ruth was when he hatched. Well so the Records said. He wouldn't be able to stand it if NIke lost another dragon. At this thought the Weyrleader shook his mind of such things.
Sh'iron noticed Christae sitting down, he smiled slightly and took a seat next to her. "Everything will work out well." He said taking her into his arms. THe rider kissed her ontop of her head. Yes everything HAD to be alright.
------------------------------------
Nike was walked out of the Lower Caverens wearing a simple knee length forest green dress. ON her feet were a pair of brown leather sandles. The straps rapped up around her thin slightly tan legs. Zim and Crystal sat on her shoulders, while Ruanth stood close to her leg.
"Don't worry Ruanth, no one will laugh at you." NIke said stroking her dragon's eye ridges. The girl spotted a blue dragon and his new Bonded, K'dan heading to the feast. "Hey K'dan!" She called out as she stode to the blue Weyrling, Ruamth stumbling after her. "Congrats on Impressing!" She told her friend.

K'dan jumped a bit, startled by Nike. Hydrath quickly whirled around preparing to defend his mine. He didn't know what was going on, all he knew was that something startled his bonded. "Chill Hydrath, it is only Nike and Ruanth, I believe the white's name is", he said to his dragon. Hydrath nodded and greeted the white. Hello Ruanth, how are you and your mine doing? "Hello Nike. Congradulations on your impression as well. I bet Ruanth is a fine dragon. She has a lovely shade of white", he said to his healer friend.

"Yeah it's Ruanth." NIke said grinning, her hand on her white's head. Hello Hydrath. We are fine. How are You two doing? The White asked softly. "THanks K'dan. Your Hydrath looks like a great flyer." Nike said looking down at the blue dragon. He is small Mine. I am almost his size! Ruanth told her Mine. Yes he is. NIke replied.

We are doing fine. "Thank you Nike. She looks to be in fine condition too. She is about the size of Hydrath", he said to her. There is nothing wrong with being small. That just means we will be faster and more nimble than other dragons. "Exactly Hydrath. No one should dismiss you or Ruanth just because both of you are small. All dragons are needed despite their color or size", he said trying to comfort the two. Hydrath didn't seem to have too much of a problem with his size but he wasn't sure about how Ruanth felt about hers. He would hate to see someone think the worst of their dragons just because of their size.

Nike grinned. "Yeah, I don't care what size Ruanth is. I love her and that is all that matters to me." The Healer/Rider said. "I have a question, K'dan." She told the boy. "What am I going to do in the Weyr now that I have Ruanth?" The girl looked at the boy worried, very worried.
Ruanth took a step from Nike's side and looked over the small blue. But I am the smallest dragon here. I do not want anyone to laugh at me. Nikemine told me that when the other white, Ruth, hatched, people laughed at him.

"I don't know, truthfully", he paused then continued with a smile, "But I know right now you will go to the feast with me and we will have a good time". He walked alongside her to the feast. He hoped he did a good job trying to comfort his friend. "Nike if you ever need someone to talk to, I am here for you. You would be a good friend to have", he said to her.
You need not worry about anyone making fun of your size. I am sure your mine will defend you and My mine and I will too.

B’kin had to wake Ronoth up before he could go change. He put on his best tunic, a rusty red color. He’d worn it at several Gathers but it was the best thing he had. He found a pair of black pants and pulled them on before rushing out to the feast with Ronoth.
B’kin glanced back to see that Ronoth was following and ended up running into something solid, not something but someone. He fell backwards causing his best clothes to become dirty, he groaned. Ronoth ran up to him, ~Mine, mine! Are you hurt.~ The Weyrling got to his feet and brushed the dirt off before looking up at who he had run into. “Sorry I ran into you… you see I in a hurry to get to the Hatching Feast.” B’kin said. He cocked his head to the side, it was dark and he couldn’t really see the face of the person he’d run into but, he looked… he looked familiar. “B’gin is that you?” he asked. ~Who is that?~ Ronoth asked. ~My brother,~ B’kin had thought that no one from his family would come to the hatching, especially not his brother. But here he was, unfortunately.
B’gin laughed, “How did you know it was me? Oh well, I came here to give you this, and to see the Hatching, though I must admit I missed your Impression… what’d you impress.” The bluerider handed his brother a handful of marks. When B’kin gave him a questioning look he added, “They’re from father, he told me to give them to you on your birthingday.” “That was several sevendays ago,” B’kin said raising an eyebrow. He shook his head, “...This is bronze Ronoth,” he said gesturing to Ronoth who hid behind him. “Consider it an Impression gift then,” B’gin said with a wave of his hand. He bent down to get a closer look at Ronoth, “He certainly doesn’t act like a bronze dragon, not any I’ve seen at least.” The bluerider shrugged, and stood up straight. “Where’s the feast I’m hungry?” He said rubbing his hands together “Why don’t you follow your nose it’s certainly big enough,” B’kin replied before starting off towards the feast again, making sure he didn't run into anything or anyone else. B’gin glared at his brother's back as he strode off, but didn't counter the retort. He followed him to the Hatching Feast hoping that the food hadn’t already been served.
Ronoth brought up the rear and bowed his wedge-shaped head to B’gin’s blue dragon who had settled himself on a ledge, ~Greetings, large one.~ The blue ruffled his wings and snorted as the bronze dragonet passed.
((Riiight... so that was longer than I expected. B'gin's only going to stay for the hatching feast... so shoud I make a character profile for him? Admin's Note:[/hr]))

NIke nodded. "Alright. Yeah we have to get the best cuts of the roasted wherry." She grinned and led the way towards the tables. She was too happy to think of anything to worry her. She had Impressed the second white on Pern. Ruanth would live and become like Ruth. That would be the way ti would happen. Yes you are right Clutch-brother. Now let us follow our Mines before they forget about us. The white said happily and led the blue after their Mines.

Kia walked outside her Weyr dressed in her best clothing. It had belonged to a Rider but it did not fit her anymore so Kia was given the beautiful gown. She took a deep breath. The drudge that had helped her get dressed insisted she wear a corset with the sleevless dress because it looked best that way. Kia had easily given in and regretted it. She felt like she would only be able to eat a sweet roll before she could not fit anything in her stomach. Kylath trotted after Kia happily. As Kia walked quickly away, her heeled boots making it a little hard, Kylath was about to bite the bottom of Kia's dress to slow her down. ~Don't you dare, Kylath!~ Kia brought the dress up so her dragon could not grab it. [shadow=red,left,300]You are walking to fast.[/shadow] ~Sorry. I'll slow down, just talk to me first.~ Kylath nodded in agreement and followed beside her Mine. Kia waited at an area she and her family agreed to stop at. Her hair was put up in a bun with two "sticks" placed in an X through it. Her family caught up with her soon enough and Kia nodded to them. "Let's go," she said and they started off. Kia walked quietly and heard a voice behind her. "You go ahead," she said pointing towards the Lower Caverns. Her father nodded and they went.

D'ran ran from his Weyr in a nice, black suit. Aureth followed after him contently. He looked around for somebody to crack the silence and saw Kia beffore him. "Hey, Kia," he yelled. He saw Kia fall back and smiled. "A wonderful hatching, right," he asked happily, "You Impressed well."
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
"Yeah, you Impressed well too. What his name," she asked. "This is little, well she is pretty big, Kylath," Kia said and Kylath looked happily at Kia.

"This is Aureth," he said simply.

Nike heard Kia and D'ran talking. The girl stoped and turned around to see an uncomftorbal looking Kia and a happy D'ran. "Hey Kia, D'ran. Join us?" She called to her friends. Ruanth turned around to see the copper and the blue. They are big. She told her Mine and Hydrath. NIke grinned and strached her white's eye ridges.

Kia smiled down at the little dragon. "You are so cute," she said and looked up at Nike, "Sometimes it is better to have them small." Kylath looked angrilly at Kia.
[shadow=red,left,300]It is also good to have them big, though. You love me much more than that lit- that White.[/shadow] Kylath was sure not to call her little because it seemed that Kia like the small. "Of course I love you, Kylath," she said with a smile.
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
D'ran also smiled at Nike and her White. Aureth moved to Ruanth and looked happily. [glow=blue2300]Hello, clutch-sister. Your hide is pretty.[/glow]

Nike ginned. "Yeah, Tirith was small. But not this small. I love Ruanth though." She said. Ruanth eyed the copper and stood closer to Nike, her short tail curled around her Mine's ankles. THank you, clutch-brother. "Come one we have to get some of the wherry. It smells sooo good!" Nike said.

Kia nodded and happily followed Nike. ~Come, love.~ Kylath followed her Mine, frowning with a bit of anger. ~Oh please, we are going to eat.~ Kylath perked up a bit but was still angered with her Mine. Kia looked down at her and frowned.

I am not sad. Just a little afraid. Ruanth replied. Nike led the group of Weyrlings towards a small round table which was empty. There were rolls, tubers, a platter of wherry, and so many other foods. There the girl took a seat with Ruanth curled around her feet.

D'ran sat next to Nike and smiled at Aureth who tried to comfort the White. He curled up next to Ruanth and talked to her reassuringly. [glow=blue,2,300]I think you need not be afraid. Everyone here will love you.[/glow] D'ran took a sweet roll and ate it quickly.

Kia sat down and the rest of her family sat across from her. She looked around, wondering where Akki and R'dan were so she could introduce them to her family. "Oh," she said, "Everybody, this is my father, sister and brother and family, this is Nike and D'ran."

B’kin and Ronoth arrived at the feast closely followed by B’gin. In the light of the Lower Caverns the deep scar along B’gin’s right cheek looked particularly nasty. The two brothers looked nothing alike; B’gin had sharp, pointed features and was tall and very skinny. B’kin took after their mother being a bit shorter but still average height and not nearly as skinny. The only thing that the boys shared was their bright green eyes. B’gin noticed the odd copper dragonet with her rider. “That girl, she has an interesting looking dragon.”
“That’s Kia, and she impressed a copper or at least that’s what I think they called that color.” B’kin replied. He began to make his way over to Kia, Nike, and D’ran but was pushed out of the way by his older brother.
B’gin strode over to Kia, “Hello,” he said with a grin. “That’s a lovely shade your dragon’s got there. And may I add that that was a particularly brave thing you did out on the sands, helping the two dragons apart.”
