The energy of the Gathering bounced around as the Sachaki Hold's residents came out to shop, the hustle and bustle getting to everyone but a few. Kia sat blankly on the dirt next to her father. Their meager shop held what they had grown in the turn passed, a small harvest this time.
Kia coughed loudly when somebody kicked a bit of dirt in her face. Tokagae bellowed at the boy but Kia stroked the flitt and he calmed down. Shev glared at the boy as he walked away.
At the outside of the Hold a bit of grass had grown. Kia looked at them warily. She was almost certain a dragon would scorch it if they would just come. The boys and girls of the Hold played together in the short grass, completely unaware.
Kia looked up at her father, asking if he needed help. "I am fine," he replied, "You can take a look around." As many times as Kia had been here she could show someone around with her eyes closed. As rude as the residents of the Sachaki Hold were they opened the Lower Caverns to guests out of courtesy. Kia walked to the kitchen, asking for a singly piece of fruit. She gave little bits to her flitt.
Looking around the Hold, Kia only wished for something new and exciting to happed. She stood against a wall, taking a deep breath. She was very bored, frankly.

~Look a gather!~ Nira exclaimed as Siaraths large green hide came from between.
The dragon swerved down, gliding for a moment like she always did. She landed, folding in her large wings and bugled as loud as she could over the usic and laughter of the gather. Siarath wanted EVERYONE'S attention.
Nira look slightly astonished at her dragon's loud voice, a smile creeping on her face. She looked around, waiting for everyone to be quiet, for her voice wasn't as loud as her dragons.

Sudenlly the excitement and noise of the Gathering at Sachaki ceased. Everyone looked up at the large Green. Sachaki had never been Searched before. Nervous mothers rushed their children home to dress them in their nicest clothes and sternly tell them to behave. The men of the kitchen frantically prepared a meal in case the Dragon and her rider were hungry. Soon enough everyone stood in silence before the large (and loud) creature.
Kia glanced over as she heard a loud bugle hurting her ears. She brushed some dirt from her tattered, faded, brown-ish dress and walked to her father. The dragon had actually landed near them.

"Hello. I am sorry to interupt this wonderful gather. My name is Nira and the is green Siarath." She said motioning towards her dragon. "We have come on search in hopes of finding candidates for an upcoming
clutch at Dark Moon Weyr. Remember candidates must be of age and healthy. All candidates please come forward so we know who is interested in standing." Nira announced hoping everyone could hear her.

Mothers and father frantically puched their children forward. Even if the boys and girls did not want to be Candidates. They stood there, a bit nervously. Each one seemed to just stare at Nira.
Kia watched from afar as the children stood ready to be Searched. She stayed with her father who also watched. Tokagae flew up to Kia and sat on her shoulder. She pat the flitt's nose with a smile.

Siarath looked around. None of these children will do.
~I thought you said that there was atleast one candidate here.~
I did but that candidate has no come forward. Siarath snorted unhappily.
Miya sighed not sure why this person hadn't come forward. "Can EVERYONE who is of age and health please come forward." She repeated, curious as to why this potential candidate stayed hidden.

A few more children stepped forward but Siarith seemed to dismiss them quickly. Kia almost laughed at the humiliation each child must have felt. Sudenlly she felt a light push on her back. She looked back but all she saw was her father. "Go ahead. Your sister and brother are... here now. All of you walk up there," said the man quietly. Kia, her brother, and her sister all walked up to the line of Candidates. Kia looked incredolously at her father. She was not even dressed as nicely as her siblings. They had much more chance than the 14 year old girl named Kia. Tokagae stayed on her shoulder, enxious as was Kia.

Siarath looked at the new candidates that arrived.I love firelizards. She added randomly as she saw Tokagae. What is your firelizards name? Siarath asked Kia curiously.

Kia felt an odd sensation when Siarith talked to her. "Uuuum, his name is Tokagae," she said confused. She looked at the people around her, blushing. To them she was "scum" in a way and if they also heard the dragon they would be jealous but if they didn't and only heard Kia talk they would think she was crazy.

I like Tokagae. She siad blinking her many faveted eyes. Oh I forgot. What is your name? She asked still lookng at the firelizard.
Nora noticed this. ~Siarath we are here to find candidates not admire there firelizards.~ She reminded the green dragon.
Sorry Mine. She said to Nira alone. The her voice opened up again to Kia. ...and why do you want to be a dragonerider? She asked.

Admin's Note:[/hr] What do you mean," she asked. "Oh, I am Kia, by the way," she looked to her sides as her brother and sister looked at her like she was crazy. She shrugged, not caring anymore.

"WEll you have stepped forward, to try and become a candidate to be a dragonrider. So I am asking you why?" Siarath asked, still watching the little firelizard. He is so tiny. She thought to herself as she watied for a reply

"uuh, I don't know. I guess it's an honor to be a rider," she said bluntly. Her sister nudged her, wanting to know what was happening. "Hush," she said to her older sister.

Siarath wasn't sure if this girl was worthy but something about her just caleld to Siarath. She looked into the foiurteen turn old girl's eyes for a long time. Her many faceted eyes didn't blink or budge. I suppose she will do. Siarath said uncertainly. She just wasn't sure if the girl even wanted to be a rider at all. Her name is Kia. Siarath told her rider.
"Hello Kia." Nira greeted, trying to be as friendly as possible. "My name is Nira and this is Siarath. She has told me that you should be allowed to stand at the hatching sands. Why don't you go tell your parents and get your stuff and we can go?" she asked. She sounded as if she was talking to a little girl. ~That was weird.~ She thought since the girl was only one year younger than she.

"That's very nice but I do not live here. My stuff is a bit far away," Kia said. Her brother, sister, and all the other residents of the Sachaki Hold stared at her jelously. Kia's father smiled at his youngest bdaughter, proud of her. Kia looked at him. She did not have much stuff but she wanted all she could bring. She figured some people at the Hold could give her clothes that didn't fit them anymore. Tokagae chirped happily and flew to Nira and Siarith.

"Well I am sure we could stop off at your home hold and get your stuff. I am sure this has happened before with gathers. I don't know, this is my first search. So why don't you tell your parents, get what you want that is here, and we will stop off at your hold. By the way, what is your hold?" She asked realizing she had forgotten that.

"I don't live in a Hold. I can show where I live as we fly over it, though," she said. Kia took a couple steps towards her father, waiting for Nira's permission. Tokagae stayed wih Nira, landing on her shoulder.

"Then we will have to fly straight. That is ok, Siarath could use the excersise." Nira smiled.
I heard that. Siarath snorted but Nira didn't reply.
"Ok go off then, do what you need to." she told the girl. ~Are there anyothers who should be candidates?~ Nira asked the green.
Siarath looked over the many holds children. No that is all. Siarath said finally.

Kia nodded and ran to her father. She only had another pair of clothes here. She got it together and gave her father a hug good-bye. "I promise to be there for your hatching," he said and with that she ran to Siarith and got up by jumping.
ooc|| Ok... let's just pretend that this was not Siarith and was some npc rider so this works with what happened at the Weyr Bowl when I first joined. I know nobody reads that old one but whatever, k?

"Ok let's go." Nira said.
Siarath pumped her wings to gain height then glided, allowing the breeze to brush against her hide.
"Which way?" Nira asked.
Siarath pumped her wings to gain more air, turned and glided again. She didn't want to go too far in the wrong direction.
