Kia noticed Kadan's discomfort and tried to change the subject. "So, how many eggs is that now," she asked. She thought about how funny it was that even if a guy didn't like a girl he would still be flustered by the question. ~I guess we are just that great~

“I’m not sure, I’ve been trying to count but I think a few of the smaller ones have been hidden under the sand or behind another, bigger egg.” Breckin answered absentmindedly. “Wait, was that question aimed at me?” he asked as he drew his attention away from the eggs.

R’dan looked down at the eggs, glad that the conversation had shifted, or so he hoped. His gaze shifted from egg to egg resting the longest on the queen egg. The Weyr would have another queen dragon soon, which would be good for the growing Weyr.

"Gee Kadan, way to choke on nothing. Anyways, I was just kidding. What is with you guys thinking I am actually serious?"Akki asked as she attempted to count the eggs. She gave up eventually though, once she finished a few she would become confused and wonder if she already counted that egg already or not.

"You can never trust Akki," Kia said matter-of-factly but joking, "She is a bit crazy, I am afraid to say. Of course, if you havn't figured that out you might want to get checked yourself." She smiled with eyes closed tight. It could be hard to have such a large smile but still keep your eyes open sometimes. Tokagae bellowed as Kia gently put her knee on him so he wouldn't fly away. She was sure not to hurt him, he was just aggravated.

Daran shifted, wanting to join in and make some friends. He walked closer but stopped, not wanting to intrude. Daran sat again, closer than he was before. He looked longingly at them and then returned his attentionm to the clutching.

"That hurts Kia, I am not crazy. I am just a little odd."She said before she sighed, "I just lost count again! I am failing at this! Daran?! Do you know how many eggs there are?". She was becoming frustrated at this now, after all she did just count the same egg five times.

"They are all unigue," she cried, "How hard could it be?" She did, though, know that some were very similar. She, herself, had counted the same egg several times with several eggs. She thought it was a bit odd when the egg count reached more than 30.

Kadan sighed, a bit relieved. "Yeah I need to stop taking people so seriously, especially her", he said to Kia. He turned his attention back to the eggs hoping the conversation would shift and no one would see that his face was still a bit red.

Christae had turned her back on her Queen, watching her friends. She could not hear their conversation but she realized that they must be having fun. When she turned again Kaith had laid two more eggs and was shifting them around in the sands. One was a strange mixture of green, brown, and blue. The other was a cream color with darker yellow swirls. She fussed a bit more before dropping a solid blue egg.
"She has 15 eggs so far. That is a good clutch for a Queen's first. I don't think she's finished either." Christae said.

"Fifteen? I suppose my 25 was off then."She admitted before admiring the blue egg. Hopefully another blue would be around, she was almost positive she was the only blue rider unless she forgot one person which she truly hoped she didn't. "Anyways Kadan, you should take me serious. What if I tell you something important and you think I am joking?"

Breckin cocked his head to the side, “Fifteen eggs? Really? I was never that good at math but I can’t believe I couldn't count to fifteen,” he muttered to himself. The candidate started to count the eggs again hoping he’d come out with the fifteen that Christae said was there.

“Or, what if some thinks you’re completely serious when you’re really joking?” R’dan asked with a grin as he pushed Akki lightly. He was talking about the day at the lake when she “freaked out” about him “staring” at her.

Kadan laughed, "What would you tell me then that would be serious?", he questioned. He remembered previous conversations with her and remembered how she was never serious.

"Exactly my point R'dan! Uhhhmmm, I am not sure I will think of something though."Akki promised. What would she say that would be serious? "Oh! I am choking! That would be it, but then again I am pretty sure you would be able to tell because my face would be blue or red...".

"A blue face," Kia cried out happily, "Then you wpuld be like Ebbeth!" She laughed, wondering if Ebbeth was close enough to hear that. "You know... I am hardly ever serious but it can be so funny to pretend I am and see how others react. It is cruel in a way, but so funny for me," she said, pretending to laugh evilly.
