Miya turned away unhappily since Kadan wouldn't tell her what was funny. "She noticed the queen's liking over the gold egg. ~I don't know why people like queens so much.~ She thought to herself. ~So they are the biggest and lay the most eggs they can't flame. It strikes me as a weak dragon if your rider had to use a flamethrower during thread.~ She decided, trying to take her mind from the interesting Tayrin and off Kadan.

Yes Ebbeth, everyone loved you Akki said as she contained a snort of laughter.

When Miya turned her attention away from him Kadan swept his brow and sighed in relief. "That was a close one", he said under his breath. He looked over everyone who had gathered there. Pretty much everyone but Rhia, G'han, and Nike. He looked back over to the eggs, trying to guess which color would come out of which egg. It was something fun to do while passing the time.

“Ebbeth, of course. I like Ebbeth, who doesn’t?” R’dan replied, nodding. “And of course Jesseth,” he added quickly, though the brown dragon had drifted off to sleep so he didn’t hear. He turned to look at the eggs again, he hadn’t been at a clutching before. In fact he hadn’t even seen the eggs before it was his time to stand as a candidate.

Kia grinned broadly. "I'm sure it was a simple mistake, calling Ebbeth a girl,"she said, tauntingly. She knew Akki was lying, even though she didn't know anyone in the hold /that/ long she could easily tell some things.

Tayrin replied to Kadan, "It sure was. She didn't look too happy." He grinned in spite of himself. "But then again, I don't know that she ever really does. She's pretty hard to read. Except when she's annoyed," he added, after a pause. "Then you couldn't help but tell how she's feeling."

Kadan was a bit suprised that Tayrin heard him but then again he was standing right next to him. "Yeah she's definently one tough girl. I think I would freak out if she actually smiled and laughed and was happy", he said to his fellow candidate. He gave a smirk, "You have your work cut for you with that one".

Kia listened to Kadan. "You better freak out then. I have seen her smile once when Akki made a fool of herself. Of course, she does do that often but this was a certain occasion where- well, it was really funny," she sai and left it at that so she didn't confuse them. She looked at Miya and then back to Kadan and G'han.

Kadan looked over his shoulder to notice Kia talking to him. He spoke back, "Are you serious, wow that's amazing. But then again from what little I know of Akki she seems to be able to keep anybody in a cheery mood so that doesn't surprise me as much". He looked back to Miya then back to Kia, "Do you make it a habit to easedrop on other people's conversations". His tone was joking, he wasn't the type to be rude or mean.

Tayrin shook his head, smiling rather introspectively. So she did smile.. now he knew it was possible. Maybe if he made a fool of himself-- No. He quickly thought better of that. Miya already knew him as a fairly serious person, and she wasn't going to fall for that. It sounded as if this Akki was enough of a comic relief for all of them, which was good; Tayrin only had a talent for flirting--self-appraised, of course-- not comedy. He sneaked another glance at the distracted Miya, and she was still as intriguing. He quickly redirected his eyes and pretended to be mildly interested in the conversation going on around him.

Kadan laughed and said to Akki, "I think it's obvious to anyone. About as obvious as Rhia and G'han". He couldn't help but smile as he thought that on the first day meeting them he could tell that they liked each other. It was just as obvious with Miya and Tayrin.

R’dan would have laughed at Akki’s “mistake” if he wasn’t part of the lie. He bit the inside of his cheeks to keep from laughing and kept his eyes concentrated on the various eggs on the Hatching Sands.

The skin on Tayrin's face, already tan, turned a quite uncharacteristic maroon before he could control himself.
But instead of stammering, like his mouth was inclined to do, he gave a small grin and said, "Now do you reeeeally have to ask?" He fluttered his eyelashes like a flirting lady of a hold and, putting on a haughty accent and a high falsetto, said, "I hope that it's not horribly bad taste, I would simply hate to be out of fashion." He snapped back to himself and had a laugh at how ridiculous he'd just been. "Of course I like her," he replied in his regular voice with a smile. He scratched his black hair into some sort of order and turned his dark sapphire eyes to Akki. "How can I not?"

Kadan laughed, "You have unique tastes I will say that much". He turned his attention to Akki and jokingly said, "Why are you so interested anyway. Maybe we should pester you in the same manner".

Kadan nearly choked when she said that. "I don't............I mean.........I .................ugh..........what?", he was flustered and couldn't get anything in edgewise. What to say and what to do, he had no idea. The tables had turned and he had been put on the spot, not particularly something he liked.
