Kia looked worriedly as Nike walked away. She felt so badly and couldn't believe that Nike had lasted even his long, watching the new eggs drop onto the warm sands, nestled by the Queen. Of course, the smaller ones were mostly uncared for.

Sh'iron took his eyes away from Kaith, laying her eggs to see Nike walk off the sands. The poor girl. It was so hard on her, but Nike was hiding how she truely felt. He knew it. Myranenth told him that Nike normaly sat on the rim of the Bowl by the Eye Rocks, talking to the dragons.
The bronze said that she spoke to others in other Weyrs, other friends she knew.
Sh'iron couldn't even think what it would be like to lose Myranenth.
They had been friends for so long! And Nike didn't even get to say good-bye to Tirith. That would be too hard.

Tayrin finally peeled his eyes away from Miya and focused on the eggs with single-minded intensity. That little grey one... it was sort of shunted off to the side, and was paid no more attention. The small, healthier-looking eggs formed a kind of rough circle around the biggest ones, and the biggest ones were placed around the queen egg, which was elevated on a mound of sand.
Tayrin looked at the egg that the weyrwoman had thought might be a queen egg. They had dismissed that quickly, though, because it was not a solid gold; it was more of a gold/cream. I wonder if that's a bronze, he thought. It certainly seemed the largest of all the eggs, besides the gold one. Another large egg was nearby. A brown? Maybe another bronze.. Tayrin was fascinated by the eggs and in examining each one had soon pushed Miya to the back of his mind, and did not notice Nike leaving the stands.

R’dan made his way to the Hatching Sands knowing he was late. ~I tried to wake you, but you sleep like a rock~ ~I know, I know~ The brownrider saw Nike leaving the Hatching Sands, he bit his lip, he wanted to say something but what? Evidently the sight of Kaith clutching had been too much for her. He let her pass without saying anything…. He didn’t want to make it harder for her. He made his way into the stands and sat down to watch the rest of the clutching.

Kia saw R'dan walk in and stood up. She waved her hand and then sat when he had found a seat. Everyone was coming for the hatching. Tokagae flew from Kia's grip and sat on her shoulder.

Daran watched Nike walk by him and away from the Sands. He figured he should find a seat sooner or later but he was fine leaning against the wall for now. Kaith stopped clutching for a bit and rearranged her eggs. Glancing over the crowd he tried to remember the names of those he had met and see who he hadn't yet. He looked back at Kaith as she left another egg.

Miya was satisfied when Tayrin looked away from her. She didn't like the feeling of being watched. She saw the healer, Nike, walk away. ~If this is so hard on her then she should leave. What is the point of making yourself suffer like that?~ She asked herself.

Akki saw R'dan enter and quickly joined him on the stands saying quietly "Poor Nike, this is the hardest for her than anyone else. To view a hatching when you just lost your own dragon is a hard thing". [glow=teal,2,300]And no one truly knows how bad it is for her. No one else has experienced a loss like that one[/glow] Ebbeth said with was followed by Akkis silent agreement.

Nike sighed as she walked down the narrow, dark hall towards the Lower Caverens.
The Healer listened to Ebbeth talk to his rider.
Yes, no one really knows what she was going through.

Kadan watched Nike leave. He felt bad for her, what if the dragon he impressed, if he impressed died, how would that feel. He shook the thought away not wanting to think about it. He looked over to Tayrin who finally took his gaze off Miya then turned to see a relieved Miya. He couldn't help but laugh out loud. He quickly redirected his attention back to the eggs.

Kia glanced suspiciouslly at Kadan as he emitted a laugh. She looked as Miya put up a relieved face and saw Tayrin watching the clutching closely. It wasn't hard to put two and two together. She smiled slightly but then returned to her paper as she checked to see if she had the eggs right.

Daran walked a little closer to wear everyone was and sat down. He was a still a bit aways. Daran looked at what everyone was doing as Kaith stopped clutching for a bit.

R’dan saw Kia and waved back. He hadn’t seen Akki and was a bit surprised when it seemed like she suddenly appeared next to him. R’dan nodded, “I wish there was something we could do… or say… but I doubt anything will really make it any better. I still can’t and don’t want to imagine what it’s like losing a dragon.” He glanced over at Kia who had sat back down, “Let’s go sit with Kia, I think she was trying to wave me over earlier.”

Miya glared at Kadan as he emmited a laugh. "What is so funny!" She demanded from the candidate. ~Everyone is hiding something, I know it.~ She thought.

Kia almost fell over as Miya shouted. She bit her tongue and covered her mouth so she wouldn't laugh harder. Tokagae attempted a dive to the eggs but had no such luck as Kia plucked him from the air. She wished he was taking a nap now.

Christae had a small, sad smile on her face as she watched Nike walk away. She hated seeing the young woman so distressed but she was glad that she had the courage to come. Kaith was well-pleased with herself. A few eggs were still in her belly and she had laid a Queen egg. Her expression was one of great smugness.
((ok guys...enough about the small grey egg....and a Queen cares for the gold egg more than any because it is the most important...they dont care for the smaller eggs less than the others unless it has a defect))

ooc|| Sorry but it is getting rather annoying with Nike's obsession witht he grey egg. i know why... but still.
I do make Kia liking the small eggs because it fits her personality and past very well.

“I don’t… huh?” R’dan said starting to get flustered, “She’s nice… she’s a friend.” He shook his head before following Akki to where Kia sat with the other candidates. He said hello to Breckin but the boy didn't notice, his eyes remained on the eggs.

"Having fun?"Akki asked as she neared Kia with a giant smile playing on her face. She heard R'dans comment and enjoyed watching him get all confused, it was something to do. She looked at the eggs and at Kaith, who was making it very obvious that she was proud of her eggs, like she should be.

Kia had a broad grin as Akki came. "Who were you saying R'dan liked," she asked. She heard her say something about him liking somebody and then R'dan saying how he liked whoever it was as a friend. She watched Kaith loving her eggs, especially those of large size and high rank. She wondred if Queen's knew what color would hatch from each egg, that is, if it were their eggs. Kia found it a little hard to swallow but she did know that the eggs that held colors such as the Queen or bronze were more important.
