Nike looked up as Miya went off to do her chores. The Healer was amazingly amused.
She was a Candidate? That was a new one!

Rhia gave a small smile and then turned to the racers. "G'han, wait till I am healed and I'm going to show you swimming!"
Christae sighed as the girl stomed off. She would prove to be troublesome.

Rhia smiled at the Weyrsinger. "Yes, I am Rhia. I would think you would have remembered since I showed you around the Weyr."
(I have a question...do you think Kaith should have a gold egg? I have a candidate in mind that might make a gold rider from the bunch and stir up the weyr a bit but i want to see if you guys want it....)

]Akki replied to the wink by rolling her eyes, just before water slipped past her closed mouth and she swallowed. She quickly rose to the surface and started to cough, still not stopping her swimming pace though. The cough made her vision blurry, so she saw only shapes moving beside her ahead of her mingled with the water. But what happened if she...

She smiled, Ebbeth clearing her fear of running into an edge or someone else. Her vision finally cleared after some furious blinks before she dove underwater again, propelling herself forward, finally catching up to Kia and G'han. She learned she could go faster under the water, with only the current that would work against her and also the murkiness of the water sometimes hid her from view if only for a moment or two.

G'han looked to see Akki go to the surface and dive back under. "Two down", he said to himself. He continued to keep an eye on Kia.

Kadan saw Akki go up for air. "Yes I won't be in last", he thought. He got so excited he accidently opened his mouth and started choking. He rose to the surface "Dang it. Well it's between Kia and G'han now", he said when he was done choking.

G'han saw Kadan go up as well. He focused his full attention on Kia. He waited to see what her next move was and what he could do. He wasn't ready to take the lead just yet.

Miya grumbled as she was put to work. Hopefully she wouldn't have to do this again. She began to hope greatly that she would impress. They couldn't do this to her if she was a dragonrider.

She stopped, deciding she would not swim with G'han and Kia to see who would come first, getting the first view of the winner. She laid on her back and swam towards Kadan saying "Water isn't the best thing to drink while swimming a race now is it?".

Nike watched as the other raced on.
THe Healer was still slightly amused by the girl Candidate, but was now thinking what she would do in the Weyr.
Be the Healer here then. But she would be out of place with all her friends as riders. Well Kaith is going to fly soon.
But she couldn't stand it to be a Candidate again. But mabey it would help. Should she ask Christae? Or mabey she will ask her. She would just wait.

Kia saw the edge of the lake coming closer, the finish line. She move just a tad faster to pull a little ahead of G'han and then returned to her steady pace.

"No it isn't", Kadan said. He watched as G'han and Kia swam beside each other. "So who do you think will win?", he said. "To be honest I am sure it will be G'han though I am rooting for Kia", he continued. He hated that he was shown up. G'han was definently better than he thought. He now felt foolish for challenging him and taking him so lightly.

G'han saw the finish line and saw Kia speed ahead of him. "Now's my chance", he thought and sped up. He wasn't in need of breath nor was he tired out. He came just ahead of Kia though not going quite full speed. He was still being a bit precautios knowing Kia was the real challenge when it came to a swimming race and taking her lightly was a big mistake even for G'han.

"Hmm, I thought so."She replied, rubbing her throat where it stung slightly from the unexpected drink. She treaded water, debating who she thought would win then said "The person who will be less conceited about it". She didn't want some who would spend a month rubbing it in, just like Ebbeth did even though he meant his as a joke.

Kia grinned, he was foolish to think he could beat her like that. She kept her lips sealed tightly and sped to be even with G'han. Whenever he moved she would. A tie was better than losing and the finish was approaching quickly.

G'han looked next to him to notice Kia. He gave a grin and stayed an even pace. He saw the finish line approach, sure he could probably speed up and maybe win but he wasn't going to do that, he mite just tire out more easily and it mite allow Kia to win. He came to the finish dead even with her and walked over to her and said, "Good race. I thouroly enjoyed it". He shook her hand and walked over to Rhia and gave her a big wet hug and smiled at her and said, "Now your wet too".

Kadan was amazed, "A tie, they tied". He swam to shore and congradulated Kia. "I was rooting for you the whole time", he said to her.

Akki felt a smile appear on her face as she swam quickly to the shore and smiled at Kia before saying "Congratulations to the both of you" before turning to G'han and repeating the same thing.

ic|| Kia smiled too when G'han shook his hand. She squeezed the water from her hair and smiled a bit when Kadan talked to him. "You did good too, you would do better to not fall for his tricks, though," she said, pointing at G'han. She walked up to Daran, she heard they were getting a new Weyrsinger. "Hello there, I am Kia," she said.

Daran took a small step back to avoid getting wet from Kia. "I am Daran, the new Weyrsinger," he said simply. They shook hands and left it at that.

It was only then she looked around at the people that were gathered she noticed there were many people that she had not met formally. She met G'han, but not Kadan or the person Kia just talked to. She shrugged, twisting her long hair and watched as droplets of water hit the ground. Sargon cherped and flew over to Akki, watching her before cherping again.
