“Hey Kia,” R’dan said as Kia approached. He turned his attention back to Christae when she suggested that he should go help the traders unload the barrels of oil. “Alright,” he said as saw the traders she mentioned. “I’ll talk to you later then.” The brown rider ran off to help the traders.
((And now I must be going so... talk to you tomorrow! Oh and I'll work on a new charrie bio during school tomorrow. I have two subs tomorrow so there's going to be a lot of free time. :-D))

"Should I help the traders as well," Kia asked. She brushed the hair from her face and noticed Tokagae chirping loudly. It seemed he wanted someone to hear him but she didn't know who.

Christae smiled at Kia. "That would be nice." She was called away to see to the unloading of supplies that had been sent along with the caravan. The nearby holds had thought it safer to send their tithes with the trade caravan instead of risking getting ambushed on on the trail with less protection.
She gave out a few orders and then returned to the caravan master. They had settled on a price, lower than the riders would have paid individually. Christae would figure out how much each person owed afterwards.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rhia waited patiently for the newcomers to get settled so that she could return to the traders to look at their goods.
Gerenanth landed and the two got off. "So what do you think?", G'han asked. "Well I better see if Christae needs my help. You are welcome to come along and help, I am sure she would appreciate it", he said. "Gerenanth stay here I will be back later", he told his dragon.
.........................
"That was great. I can't wait to get a dragon of my own.", Kadan replied and continued, "Sure I'll help out as much as I can".
................................
The two came to Christae and G'han said, "Is there any way I can help. I am done showing Kadan around".
When they arrived at the stabled Miya placed Shonu inside one. After settling the runnerbeast in she pat his back then left to continue the tour. Once she was showed where her room was she walked in. Her small green bag was placed on the bed and unzippered as she began to unpack. When she finished Miya tucked the bag under the bed and layed down. She was exhausted because she was up all night waiting for Shonu. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
A large forest green dragon came from between after a delivery. Siarath flew down into the weyrbowl and Nira dismounted. She walked over to Christae with Siarath close behind. "Christae, do you know when I could pick up my sleeping furs?" She asked hoping to use no shredded furs for the night.
Nike cursed as she ran through the Bowl. How could she forget? Well Tirith was getting sick, and that was what really mattered to her. The green rider dodges through people to get to the Weyrwoman. Slung over her shoulder was an empty bag to hold her supplies. Zim cherped as she sat on Nike's shoulder. The queen would soon be clutching soon. When? NIke didn't know! She just wanted Tirith to get better.
The Green's tail was thick and she was coughing badly. Nike shook her head as she ran on. Soon she reached the Weyrwoman. "Do you have my things?" Nike asked, out of breath. A look of worry was on her face as she felt Tirith hack up another cough.
[glow=blue,2,300]The traders arrive with their goods, many mines are down there already helping them unload so they can admire what has been brought[/glow] Ebbeth said to Akki who was quickly heading to the Weyrbowl to assist in unpacking. ~I figured, many people were gone for the majority of the day so I realized they would be down here~ She replied as she saw the rest of the people with the traders.
[glow=blue,2,300]Tirith is ill I think though I am not sure, should we offer to help her mine?[/glow]. Akki looked for Nike, shocked. She didn't know Tirith was ill, it was news to her but Ebbeth was right she should offer to help Nike.
Quickly spotting her friend she quickly went over to her and said "Nike, Ebbeth said Tirith is ill, is it true?".
Nike looked at Akki, her face worried. "Yes she is." Another cough came out from her weyr. "Badly." She added, her eyes slowly filling with tears. "I don't know what to do! I look at the records in the Healer Hall for the dragon illnesses, and there was one like this. But everything is gone, and no one knows what to do." She said, tears falling down her cheeks.
"Aw Nike, I'm so sorry!"She cried out. She was deeply sorry and worried for her friend, knowing she would feel scared and worried if Ebbeth fell ill.
[glow=blue,2,300]Akkimine, Tirith is indeed sick I take it. Offer to help[/glow]
~I know Ebbeth~ "I can collect anything of yours here and bring it up to you if you want so you can go to Tirith"She offered knowing that would do little.
Nike shook and nodded her head, more tears rolling down. "Alright, but there is nothing I can do for Tirith. The Healers say there is nothing they can do either." She said taking in a deep breath.
Tirith coughed again. Oh I'm coming up there Tirith love! She said. Nike handed the bag to Akki. "Just bring it up when you have everything." She said befor running across the bowl to her weyr.
~O Ebbeth! I feel so bad! I know you would want to go and see if Tirith is alright but I can not allow that though it pains me! The illness may be catching~ She said worriedly as she turned to the Weyrwoman and asked "Is Nike's things here? I'm supposed to gather them for her".
[glow=blue,2,300]Do not feel bad Akkimine, this is hard for you too. I will not go if you do not want me too.[/glow] Ebbeth replied, consolingly.
She quickly put all of Nikes things into the bag and walked out of the Weyrbowl, looking for Nike to give her, her things
"Kia, G'han go help sift through the supplies. The Headwoman will tell you where everything goes. Kadan if you can spare the time and aren't too tired, your help would be appreciated. If you see Rhia please send her to me."
Christae turned at Nira's voice and smiled a welcome. "Your furs are around here somewhere. It might take me a while to..." She broke off as Nike came up and asked for her things as well.
"Everything is scattered. We got a tithe from the nearby holds as well as what we bought with the traders, a new Weyrsinger and a couple of other candidates. I don't know where everything is at right at this moment. You are welcome to look but I haven't gotten a chance to document everything and see how much is owed and what we have to place in storage. The traders will stay the night so look over their wares. If you need something else that cannot wait please let me know." Christae was distracted. "Akki your things are mixed in with the rest." She said when the bluerider walked up.
Mine, Tirith is ill.
She is?
Yes.
I didn't know.
"Nike, my deepest condolences. I did not know Tirith is ill. I hope that she recovers. Do not worry about your duties here. Take all the time you need to care for Tirith. If you need to take her to the Southern Continent. I will try to get your healers things to you as soon as humanely possible."
Kia smiled. "I'll be happy to help," she said. With that she left to help the people from the caravan. She frowned because she did not get a chance to meet the new Weyrsinger.
Nira smiled. "It is ok. Don't stress yourself out." She looked at Nike. "Don't worry I am sure Tirith will be alright." (Short, sorry.)
The Traders looked up, unnerved as the dragons in the Weyr launched themselves and circled around the Weyr, keening their death keen.
The list Christae was holding slipped from nerveless hands. Holgath took one look at the ashen face of the young Weyrwoman and lifted her up and set her down on the back of one of the wagons before she fell. The death keen continued on and on without end as the dragons mourned the loss of the young green. Tears began to stream heedlessly down Christae's face. She was not the only dragonrider that was crying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``
Rhia, on her knees in the Weyr bowl, covered her eyes and wept. Nike and Tirith had been friends, and now Tirith was gone. She couldn't imagine the pain of losing a dragon.

G'han followed Christae's orders and relayed a message to Gerenanth, ~Gerenanth, tell Mneith Christae wants to see Rhia~. The dragon did as instructed and relayed the message to Mneith.
........................
Kadan said, "Sure I will help. What can I do?".

Kia looked up and saw as Tirith winked /between/. She gasped as she figured out what was happening. Sure, she had not know Nike or Tirith for long but it was sad none-the-less. She cried, only a few tears streaming down her face. It was far worse to never have a dragon then to have recieved and then lost one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daran looked to the sky as the dragons sound filled the air. Surely a dragon had gone /between/ and it was a mournful event. Perhaps this was not the best way to start at a new weyr.
(Ack! tirith died, boy im behind)
G'han knew what had happened and shed a tear and said, "Poor Nike. I know how I would feel if the same happened to Gerenanth". At the moment he said his name he heard the dragon keening. He was about to go see Nike but then remembered Christae asked him to help out. "I will go see her later", he said.
........................
Kadan looked puzzled wondering what was going on. He shrugged his shoulders figuring he would find out sooner or later and continued to do his part in helping out Christae.
As Christae walked past the Traders they offered their condolences and sympathy. Christae kept her head high and thanked them, reassuring them that she would give the message to the bereaved former rider. Holgath walked up to her and pressed something into her hand. Christae opened it and started to protest.
"We cannot take your goods without payment."
"You paid us Weyrwoman." The Caravan Master said gruffly. "Food and a few of the marks you originally gave us. That is all we need. You need those marks more than we do. Keep it. We will be moving on now." The rest of the traders nodded in agreement, packing the things that would not stay in the Weyr.
"We promised you lodging for the night. Please let us give you at least that."
"Weyrwoman, your weyr is in mourning. We will not intrude. We will take up your offer of hospitality the next time we go on through here."
"My Queen should be rising to mate soon. I will send word to you when the Hatching will be. Please come and stay with us as our guests for that occasion."
"We will try Weyrwoman." The man bowed and the traders finished unloading. The caravan rumbled out of the Weyr Bowl. Christae gave orders to the disheartened kitchen staff and sat at a table in the dining room to cry again.
