Christae paced her office. This was proving a difficult decision. She couldn't go back in time to help train, even though the extra Turn might help.
Would it pay to move the ENTIRE weyr back and not only give the little ones a chance to grow, but also give the weyr a longer chance to train?
She'd have to see what others thought. There was also the matter of seeing who would go and who would be in charge. She would certainly be sending Rhia back. She would be teaching her young charges after all.
Akki, her somewhat strange, but much beloved bluerider friend had already volunteered. She would be a help to Rhia, especially considering the fact that she had already helped the brownrider with her students on several occasions before.
If the entire weyr went back, at least a handful would have to stay forward, but what of the twin Queen? Two Queens clutching at the same time would be disaster, not only in too many eggs and probably not enough candidates, but also two Queens fighting over mates and over the Hatching Sands.
So what to do? She'd ask her people. She'd also ask for people to volunteer to go back in time.
Shall I call them?
Yes love.
The Weyrwoman wishes to speak to the riders in the council chamber. Those who have head positions in the Weyr should attend also. That meant the Headwoman, healers, heads of crafts and the like.
In the meantime, Christae headed to the large meeting room that had a path from her office. It was located off the Dining Cavern and set up for meetings like this.

Uslanee heard the call, and made her way to the council chamber. This was no time for snacks, not to mention the fact that they hardly had anything to snack on, so she did not bring any. She did bring some hides, ink, and a quill, as well as some lists she had made of essential and nonessential personnel in the kitchens. She hadn't told Christae this, but she planned to go on this crazy mission, and she had pored over her knowledge of her staff to make sure the Lower Caverns were well taken care of in her absence. Her replacements were listed on a page labeled "Needed at Dark Moon", the ones she could spare were listed on a page labeled "Available to Go". Her own name was in a subcolumn on the second page named "Volunteers".
Entering the chamber, she went straight to Christae. "Here is a list I have made of all the staff. I think it's pretty straightforward." Uncharacteristically, she bit her lip, showing her nerves. She wasn't sure how the weyrwoman would take this. If Christae argued it, she wasn't sure she would argue back; she had been here a long time, and she liked her kitchens, and working for the weyrwoman.
--------------
T'rin walked at a slowed pace to the chamber where the meeting was to be held. His head was still spinning with all of this.
You need to get yourself together. A real bronzerider would decide what he was going to do, or at least what his opinion was, Amparath said chidingly.
Well I guess I'm not a real bronzerider then, T'rin replied sharply. It's easy for you to deal with this, you just have to pledge loyalty to your queen.
Maybe that's all you have to do, too.
T'rin started to reply back, but realized that his dragon had retreated mentally, closing him off. He punched a fist into his thigh in frustration. He knew Amparath was right. His duty was to his weyr and weyrleaders. But he was scared, an emotion he was not accustomed to feeling, and the fear was making him weak. No, he told himself, I'm letting it make me weak. He took a breath, stilled his thoughts, and stepped into the chamber.
"Weyrwoman, my regards to your dragon," he said as he approached Christae. "Uslanee," he added, with a nod to the headwoman.

G'han walked casually towards the meeting room. He knew this was all serious business. But G'han's personality and attitude was always a consistent thing. He wasn't a person who could be completely serious. Was there possible doom and gloom ahead? Yes there was. But did that mean there would be no more happy times? No more smiles and laughter? No. Infact, G'han was a stern believer that laughter was needed in such times. He would walk into this doom and gloom with a smile on his face and a joke on his tongue. Whether anyone else appreciated such a personality was not a concern of his really. G'han was G'han and he was comfortable in that.
So how did G'han walk into the room? With a smile on his face. He approached the weyrwoman and gave a slight bow in respect. "Weyrwoman Christae. It is always a pleasure. I hope you and Kaith are well? Gerenanth and myself are as fine and fit as always", G'han greeted Christae as warmly as possible. He then turned to the headwoman and greeted her as well. "Good day milady. I hope today has been generous to you as well", he greeted her before turning to T'rin.
"T'rin. I hope you and Amparath are well off as well", he greeted his fellow bronzerider curtiously but lacking that certain warmth it had with the women. Yet another personality of G'han's. His tone always seemed much softer around females. G'han took a look around the room. He had been getting better about arriving earlier and earlier to these meetings. Fourth one into the room? Not bad at all. Though G'han disliked the idea of being the first person to a meeting. Being too early just wasn't something he could do. It made him seem to uptight in his eyes, like he was such a punctual person and that just wasn't him. It was best not to give people those expectations about himself.

Ragule was not amused. All these impromptu meetings and such called on the very last second. Didn't the woman know that there was a method to these things? Grumping to himself, he hobbled down the halls on two pained knees, cane in hand. It was not a good day for long walks, either. Not for him, anyway. He'd had to leave a rather tender dressing to one of the journeymen. Thankfully, he had confidence the lad could handle it. It was just a dressing, after all.
Walking into the room, Ragule cast about for a place to sit and promptly sank into the seat gratefully, getting off his aching knees. "What's the call this time?" He asked, unable to keep all of the bite out of his tone. He knew she was pressured as were all of them. But he was in pain.

Are you sure about this? I have no quarrel with it but this is your chance to change your mind.
Akki looked up from her bed, her legs wrapped in furs and smiled crookedly at Ebbeth, “Since when have I ever been sure about anything? I thought we were known for doing things spur of the moment.” She kicked the furs off of her and rolled out of her bed, her feet hitting the floor as she stood up and walked towards the Blue. She raised her hand and patted the dragon on his snout, “We’re not too old for adventures, are we? Are you up for this? It was a constant worry of hers. What if Ebbeth grew up and left her behind? She knew she was rather immature, especially for her age, so what was preventing Ebbeth from getting sick of her.
Ebbeth opened his mouth slightly, biting down on her hand and gave it a playful shake. You’re the only fogey I see. He let the hand drop out of his mouth and nudged the girl, Kaith beckons. Go to the council chamber.
She grinned and rubbed the blue’s snout for another second before turning to leave their weyr. She paused at the door and turned around, “Don’t die of old age while I’m gone.” And with a laugh, Akki was out of the room and heading to the chambers.
Within a matter of minutes, the bluerider was in the council chambers. She walked up to Christae, arm slumping over the Weyrwoman’s shoulder. “Don’t stress out too much.” She whispered with a quick wink before letting the arm slide away. Akki hopped up onto a table that sat behind Ragule and let her arms drape around the man’s neck. “Come now, Master Healer. Where’s all your pep?”

Rhia entered the cavern, a scroll with the current weyrlings in her hand. Anassa, T'ren, and P'rin followed, waiting to see what the Weyrwoman had to say.
Things were a bit strange with the whers in Dark Moon Weyr. The wher colony hadn't quite worked out at Caspian due to lack of numbers, but they were near enough here at Dark Moon Weyr that they could help protect the neighboring Holds, and in the future, they'd be moved back to Caspian.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Christae nodded greetings to the riders as they filed in. Uslanee had a list for her. How very efficient of her Headwoman. It would help. She was waiting on a list of those Weyrlings that were coming from Rhia. She was momentarily distracted by the entrances and didn't read the list just yet.
She greeted T'rin and then G'han, Ragule, and Akki. Rhia, and several others followed, most not far out of Weyrlinghood themselves, but that was good. They had more personnel that were not weyrlings since the last batch had graduated. They were still missing some of their people and still had not found another Candidate Master, but that was alright. Akki and Rhia were doing great in that area.
"My greetings, Riders and staff of Dark Moon."
As she waited for more people to arrive, she glanced down at Uslanee's list.
Essential personnel, that was all good and well. She noted that the woman's name was not listed, but that was fine because she wouldn't be counting herself when making a list of the personnel, would she?
The Weyrwoman paused when she noticed the name under volunteers. "Uslanee, absolutely not! I need you here." Her voice held just the slightest hint of desperation. She didn't know what she'd do without the help of her Headwoman.
G'han watched Akki as she came in, but there didn't seem to be any interaction beyond that glance. He trained his eyes back to the weyrwoman, fully enveloping himself into this meeting. He watched as others filtered in behind her. There was Rhia, and two or three other dragonriders behind her. Seemed things were slowly picking up here.
As Christae began talking to her headwoman, K'dan slipped into the meeting. He realized he was probably late, but he hoped that might go unnoticed as he remained quiet. If it was one thing the boy could do, it was remain silent. He still had some of the shyness and awkwardness from weyrlinghood. G'han had hoped he would have been cured of it on his return to Dark Moon, but K'dan was always a consistent person. Maybe he'd never change. But maybe that wasn't a bad thing.
The bluerider and bronzerider looked on as they waited for Christae to continue the meeting. G'han actually thought about going back in time himself. Perhaps it'd be useful for him as well to have that time to prepare. He would look forward to running Gerenanth and himself harder than before. K'dan, on the other hand, was actually at the opposing end. He would rather stay and be with those left in the present time to prepare for threadfall. But only time would tell who got to go and who got to stay.
Ragule watched as people came into the room with some interest and some disinterest. He couldn't help it... he was in somewhat of a cranky mood. But at the same time, he was wise enough to not take it out on these people. They were already stressed enough as it was. Besides, any Healer worth his salt knew how to reign in personal frustrations.
He was surprised, however, to have Akki suddenly leap onto a table and then wrap her arms around his neck. "Oh, hello there my dear." He greeted, reaching up to pat her arm. "I am afraid I used up most of my pep when I was your age." Ragule confessed. But a small smile did touch his face. "Come now, get off the table and sit in a proper seat like a Dragon Rider ought." He patted the chair nearest to where he was sitting. "What are you planning on doing, if I might ask?"
There was no doubt in Ragule's mind. He wasn't going. He wasn't spritely and young enough to be going on an expedition of this nature. Or any nature for that matter. His journey to get to Dark Moon he had planned to be his last. That was not to say he wouldn't make sure whatever Healer did go was very well trained and trusted to be competent enough for the job. But no ... Ragule wasn't going. If someone insisted that he should, he might well take his cane to their skull, knock some sense into them. Between was not kind on older folk.
R'khol had been dozing, his cheek held firmly by a propped up hand.
Mine... Miiine... LAZY WEYRLEADER!
R'khol jerked awake, his eyes searching around his study for a threat or urgent something-or-other. He stifled a yawn with one hand and looked over his desk. He had been going over some documents... and had apparently fallen asleep.
What is it Kegrith?
Kaith sent out a call a little bit ago. Another meeting. You shouldn't be too late if you were to go now. I did try to wake you, just so you know. But you, mine, are a fairly deep sleeper..... and you did need your rest. Otherwise, you, of all people, would not have fallen asleep. You should take better care of yourself mine.
R'khol chuckled and ran a hand through his hair- which had come unbound while he slept. He gathered up the dark tresses and confined them once more with a length of thong. He stretched and got up from his chair, moving slowly at first, but then with more agility as he became more fully awake. He stretched again and then made his way to the meeting room. I will try Kegrith, and my thanks for waking me.
He stifled another yawn just before he entered the room, then made his way over to Christae.
"Sorry to be late, Weyrwoman Christae." He chose to use her full title, a sign of respect and... well, penance for being late. As a weyrleader, he should have been more on time.
V’ian quickly ducked into the room, a meat roll more or less hanging out of his mouth. He grabbed it and glanced apologetically at everyone, “Sorry, I was grabbing a snack when I got the message.” It almost seemed like Waeith had waited for V’ian to put the food in his mouth before relaying the message, sharding dragon.
Do not blame your bad timing on me.
He glanced at G’han and offered the man a brief smile before looking at Akki with a raised eyebrow. Even at important times like this, she still managed to be loud and such. The man grabbed a seat, hands resting on his knees. Was he willing to go back in time? He didn’t care, really. He’d do what was needed. What he was really more concerned about was his sister – did he want her to go back? No, not especially. She was always getting into some sort of trouble and he didn’t even want to think what would happen if some incident occurred if she were to go.
He wondered if he could somehow bribe Akki to not go but the girl was stubborn and would do what she wanted in the end. If she went and he didn’t, he’d get someone to keep an eye on her. He knew that she wasn’t very good at keeping watch herself.
Akki beamed at Ragule and patted his cheek with one hand, her arms still wrapped around him. “Have some of my pep then, I think I could spare some if you want.” She let her arms untangle themselves and, with a slight pout, slid off of the table and onto the seat beside the Master Healer.
“Surely you’ve heard by now that I’m not your typical dragon rider.” She grinned, winking at the man.
She shrugged, “I’ll go or stay. Either one is an adventure, right? I’ll do whatever Christae wants.” Her voice was casual; the smile was still on her face. Akki was acting like this was no big deal, like it was just choosing something for breakfast. She wasn’t sure how else to act though. She was worried that if she acted nervous or something about this then others would feel nervous, if they weren’t already. Maybe, just maybe, if she could remain upbeat then others could relax just a lil bit more. “Are you going to come?”
Awerah was one of the last ones to arrive, coming in a few moments after K'dan had settled himself into the meeting. As she made her way into the room, she took a good look around. Many of the riders were familiar to her. Afterall, she was born and raised here. Some stuck out more than others. The weyrwoman Christae who had run this weyr for so long by herself and earned a great deal of prominance and respect at Darkmoon.
She glanced over to notice the bronzerider G'han, and the bluerider Akki off somewhere else. The duo had been here for quite awhile, Akki longer than G'han and G'han had left for awhile, but now he was back and wingleader no less. Quite an impressive come back. The two could be quite the trouble makers but easily some of the most amusing people among the weyr. Her final glance fell to Rhia, a very trusted and loyal brownrider. Awerah could see why Christae trusted her as much as she did.
However, she decided to take her seat next to Akki's brother, V'ian. She decided she'd get to learn more about him this way. As she took her seat next to him, she cast him a wink and looked over at Christae. Awerah didn't care whether she went to the past or stayed here. Though some part of her winced at the fact of timing it. Afterall, it had cost her her weyrmate. The idea of timing it still sent a chill down her spine. Even now, as she thought briefly of it, she shivered slightly.
Christae didn't let Uslanee respond because a new rider entered after R'khol had burst in apologizing. "It's fine R'khol. It's not like I gave any notice. My apologies to all of you for not announcing a meeting. This is the first chance I've had to call one."
She took a deep breath. Any other riders who came in would be filled in afterwards. "We need to decide who goes back in time with our young ones. I will be helping to ferry them but I cannot leave the Weyr to its own devices, even for the short amount of time that they will actually be gone from our time."
"I have a leaf of paper here. Weyrlingmaster Rhia is definitely going, she needs to teach our young ones and she has already said that she will go. We have contemplated sending Chiron, Rehan, and Giana back as well but we needed to consult the twins father and see what others said. Our concern would be that they wouldn't understand the time jump. Also, we need to decide if we want to send more wings back in time for more training."
"We are definitely sending the weyrlings back. The only one who will be staying is Colvarinth and her rider Faine. We don't want two Queens rising at the same time and if something were to happen, Faranth forbid it, to Veritath, we need Colvarinth."
"I leave the choice to you. Akki, if you still wish to go back, you are welcome to. I would love your aid here, but you and Rhia have already worked together as a team and she will need help back in time. The choice is entirely yours. G'han, R'khol, the same goes for both of you. The rest of my riders, your assistance is vital to both our time here, and our time in the past. As I have said to the others, the choice is yours."
She laid a charcoal stick on the table beside the paper. " One column is for stay. The other is for go. Write your name under whichever one you choose. I don't need an explanation. There is no shame in choosing to stay. You will be busy. We need to resupply our weyr and we also need to make bandages and numbweed, as many as can be made."
Akki was already holding the charcoal stick by the time Christae had finished talking. She grinned at the Weyrwoman as she put down her name under the To go column. “Think of it as a vacation from me.” She laughed, tossing the charcoal stick up into the air before grabbing it again. If she was needed at the Weyr, which was doubtful, Christae would think of a way to contact her. The goldrider was a smart kid, after all.
She stretched her arms over her head, “Besides, Ebbeth and I need a new story to tell and this seems like the perfect opportunity.” She turned to look at the others in the room, shaking the stick back and forth. “Who’s next?” Akki let her eyes wander around the room for a moment, thinking. Who would stay and who would go? If something happened to her while she was back in time, who would be the people at Dark Moon that she wouldn’t see.
V’ian grinned at Awerah before standing, grabbing the charcoal that his sister tossed to him. He signed his name under the appropriate column while Akki peered around him to see his decision. It seemed that the bronzerider would be staying at the Weyr. “Waeith will be able to carry a good load of supplies, it would be good for him to stay behind and help out here.” He explained to his sister when she saw her puzzled look. V’ian grinned at her, “Plus this way the Weyrwoman can have someone close enough to be you. We’re siblings, right? I can be your replacement.”
While Christae had been speaking, Hasima had quietly slipped into the room and only made her appearance known when she slowly went to the front. V’ian handed her the charcoal next, offering her a reassuring smile. She gave a small smile back, writing her name under the ‘To go’ column. The yellowrider glanced at Christae, with a soft “Rimith is small and I’m slow but we want to help.” In her head, she could hear Rimith croon happily with their decision.
G'han had nodded to V'ian when the fellow bronzerider entered and nodded to him. G'han could only smile as a greenrider came in afterwards and sat by him. Well wasn't V'ian the lucky guy? Having the female greenrider to himself like that. He watched as Akki signed her name first. He could only grin. He saw the move coming. Then V'ian got up and followed after his sister. Next in line was Hasima.
He decided to stand up and walk up casually and sign his name next. He looked at both sides, though ultimately knowing which one to sign his name under. "To Go", he stated boldly and looked over to Akki. She had signed there too. "Looks like the dynamic duo sticks together, even through time", he grinned at her. He then looked over the group of riders present. "Anyone amongst my wing, I'd like to go", he stated casually before looking towards the weyrleaders.
"I'm one of the youngest, greenest wingleaders here. I'd like more time to practice with my wing, if that's quite alright", he basically asked for permission after making his suggestion to the wing. But better late than never he guessed. Christae could over rule it if she wished, or the weyrleader. But Christae had said she wanted some wings to go back to practice. And G'han felt he needed more time to become more in unison with his wing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Up next was K'dan. He took the charcoal handed to him by G'han and looked at the two choices. It wasn't such a hard choice for him. Though unlike G'han, K'dan had actually mulled over going back. But ultimately he decided he'd be of more use here. So he wrote his name under To Stay. "I think I'm better suited here", K'dan said softly before walking off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally Awerah decided to go up after the sheepish K'dan. G'han was still up there, so she decided to "accidently" bump into him lightly. She grinned up at him mock apologetically and looked at the list before her. Stay or go? It was such a hard decision. Her hand wanted immediately to go for To Stay as she picked up the charcoal K'dan left behind as he went to sit.
She saw the names going and staying. But what was better for her? She edged closer to the To Stay column but something struck her. The image of her former weyrmate, K'tar. She knew how he'd feel about this. He'd want her to get past this, to get over it. But could she do it. She switched over to the To Go column and held her hand there for a moment. Her dragon nudged her on.
You can do it, Awerah. Be brave.
She froze there for a few more moments, before she sighed and moved towards the To Stay column. "I...I can't do it. I'll...stay", she said, holding back her sobs. She had disappointed her dragon, she had disappointed K'tar, she had disappointed the weyr, but she really had disappointed herself. She made her way back to her seat, hiding her face behind a hand. She just couldn't. Not after what happened to K'tar. She just wasn't ready to face it.
Ragule stood his cane upright, and piled both hands atop the top of it, watching as riders filed by the parchment, scratching noises breaking the semi silence as they wrote their names. Honestly, Ragule was impressed at how many of them were literate enough to do that. He was under no delusions: most non-harpers were illiterate. Couldn't write their name if their life depended on it. But apparently the Riders at Dark moon were a tad more educated than the general local yokel.
He didn't bother to get up, even, watching as the others did so. He just didn't feel like it. "I won't be going. However, I can suggest some good lads who could use the practice." Ragule stated, aloud. "You kids had best be careful out there." He warned them all, with a stern look from under his bushy brows.
R'anl had slipped in, completely soaked under his dry clothes, silently into the back of the group. He was tall enough he could see what was going on, and quite able to hear what was going on. Ah, so this was it. Down to the wire. He waited patiently as people cycled through, writing their names on the parchment. When it came his turn, he dried his hands off on his thighs again, and picked up the charcoal.
He already had a pretty good idea what he was going to do. But seeing certain names in certain lists ... made it easier. With only the hesitation needed to scan the short lists, R'anl put his own name down, under the "to go" list.
Ooc|| Bahaha, I was wondering if anyone would point out the literacy factor in this
“I think it’s impossible to split us up at this point.” Akki responded, grinning at G’han. She knew that the man would go – she couldn’t even begin to picturing him staying behind while she went and this adventure. It would kill him! The bluerider slightly elbowed the bronzerider, “You’re definitely the greenest one. Not just of wingleaders though.” She snickered.
K’dan was staying, that she had expected. She grinned at the boy when he signed his name and lightly hit him on the shoulder. She didn’t know much about Awerah but when the greenrider had a tough time signing; Akki shared a glance with her brother who nodded. Akki flashed him a quick smile before frowning at Ragule, “Be careful yourself, old man.” She winked at the Master Healer, “I’m expecting a klah date when I get back, aye?”
As soon as R’anl signed his name, Akki quickly wrapped her fingers around his wrist and lifted their arms into the air. “Dibs on R’anl if we’re going on a buddy system!” She declared loudly, snatching up the bronzerider before anyone could. She let her hand fall back to the side, “Geth is large so I figure he can be Ebbeth’s bodyguard and you could be mine.”
V’ian moved away from the crowd that was gathering to sign the parchment, sitting beside Awerah and letting his arm casually wrap around her shoulders. “I’m glad someone else is staying, it’d be awful lonely.” V’ian nodded, glancing at another rider in the room before adding, “Ah, sorry K’dan. Your presence makes me feel good…I suppose.” V’ian was not good with girls, did it show? But he figured if he could distract Awerah just for now, it would be a little better for her. He pointed at R’anl,
“If anything happens to my sister, it’s on your head now.”
"Not what you said last night", G'han snapped back, before adding his charismatic smile. He figured she'd have some comment when he called himself green. "By the way. I'm not the only one wet behind the ears. I need to teach you a thing or two", he added to her, pointing and wagging his finger up and down.
He glanced from Akki to Awerah for a moment. Poor gal, he knew of K'tar. The two men had shared a cup of klah together on a number of occassions. He always spoke so sweetly about his weyrmate, Awerah. Of course, everyone knew she was as flirty as any greenrider could be. But for the turns her and K'tar were together, they only saw each other. For K'tar, he knew there was no other woman. And many agreed that for Awerah, there was no other man in her sight but K'tar.
His charismatic smile turned into a slight frown as he watched the woman holding back sobs while she covered her face. It only turned back to a slight smile when he saw V'ian put his arm around her comfortingly. Maybe V'ian staying behind really was a good idea. He turned back to Akki and shook his head. She wanted to buddy up with someone else? So much for that dynamic duo. But G'han was totally ignoring the fact there was a slight twinge of jealousy there. Instead, he turned away from her and still awaited the weyrleaders decision on whether his entire wing should go back with him or not.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Awerah had been doing a pretty good job not crying. Though covering her face probably didn't detract any attention from her. She was silently cursing herself for looking so weak right now. What happened to the rough and tumble Awerah that pinned boys to the ground and gave them a black eye? She liked that Awerah. Not this girl that was fighting back tears because she lost the love of her life.
It is okay to show some weakness, mine. I miss them as well. The green tried to comfort her rider. Awerah simply gave a mental nod, though still feeling embarrassed for putting on such a dramatic scene. Embarrassed, that is, until V'ian put his arm around her. She sighed, as if giving up fighting back her emotions, and simply leaned into him and buried her head into his chest.
She still refused to cry. No, she wouldn't shed a single tear. But, it was still comforting to be able to lean on the bronzerider next to her. After all, he was trying to comfort her and he wasn't half bad. Still, she could remember K'tar holding her in the same fashion when something upset her. Everything, at this moment, was reminding her of him and she was hating it. She wanted to be strong and brave. She wanted to go! But...she couldn't. When it was time to make the bold move, she choked. Right now, she was hating herself for choking like that.

K'dan simply shook his head at V'ian. Yeah, now he got mentioned. K'dan leaned forward and whispered in V'ian's ear opposite side of Awerah. "Look. Don't throw me in as an afterthought. I get it. You've got this gal all to yourself right now. Way to go stud", K'dan whispered to V'ian before leaning back again.
He gave a silent chuckle as his shoulders shrugged and he shook his head. Bronzeriders had all the luck sometimes. Though he guessed he couldn't complain. He did have his eye on this girl. Unfortunantly she was a weyrling and she was going back in time. Oh snap! She was going back in time. Stupid move K'dan. He suddenly realized this and smacked his head.
K'danmine? Wouldn't it be best for you to not be there? You would just be a distraction and you know you're better suited here. Hydrath did his best to soothe the mind of K'dan and the bluerider actually conceded to the blue's point. Point taken, Hydrath. We'll be staying here and helping those left behind while the heroes go off to do their job.

Ragule laughed, and raised his cane slightly toward Akki, as if it were a glass. "It's a date." He agreed. "Don't worry, I won't be getting into too much trouble, with the lot of you out of my hair." He grumped, good-naturedly. He really didn't have any problems at all with the young people that populated the Weyr. In fact, he found they were better behaved and generally less troublesome than most populations their age. "You see anything interesting, you take note of it so I can read about it when you get back."
R'anl was surprised and shocked at the same time when Akki grabbed a hold of him and laid claim. And then a big grin split his face. "Of course, Akki. We'll keep you safe." He assured her. He didn't miss the jealous stance on G'han, though. Oops ... was he getting into hotter water than he bargained on? But it only barely dampened his elation at having been picked by the bluerider - even if they did not ultimately do any buddying.
R'anl couldn't help it - he liked Akki a whole lot. Initially, he hadn't thought he stood half a chance with her. But not he was getting a bit of a hope that maybe, just maybe, he did after all! He'd have to figure out how to make peace with G'han, though ... pissing off the other bronzerider wasn't going to do anyone any good.
Getting prompted by V'ian, though, R'anl grinned again. "Don't worry. I'll make sure she gets back in one piece." he assured the brother. If he didn't manage that, R'anl was going to have worse worries than just her brother being mad at him.
