When V’ael appeared, Z’ayr practically clung to him. His hand clung to his arm as the boy quickly moved about to get the firelizards off of the bluerider. Aesa dug her nails into V’aels skin as she was removed from Z’ayr but other than that, let herself be tucked under his arm. The gold firelizard was familiar with the greenrider and, while not fully appreciating it, didn’t put too much of a struggle.
When Mosaic was under control, Z’ayr visibly relaxed – shooting a giant, grateful grin to V’ael. “Thank you! I saw my life flashing before my eyes.” His hand fluttered to his chest, his heart slowing down. Was his fear of firelizards irrational? Sure! But that didn’t stop him from thinking that they would claw out his eyes if they got the chance. He ran a hand through his hair, “Trouble finds me, V’ael. It’s not my fault.”
The bluerider was quite calm now and smiled at Catilena with a shrug. “Not your fault, you didn’t know about me and flits.” He didn’t want the poor dear to blame herself! It wasn’t like she had commanded the brown to try and maul him to death. Z’ayr pursed his lips slightly as he turned to D’lan, “I had an unfortunate run in with a firelizard when I was a kid.” The memory still haunted him. He waved away the brownrider’s words, “No worries, everything is okay.”
Aesa chirped and wriggled her way out from V’aels arm, landing on the greenriders shoulder. She crooned at Z’ayr who smiled (Hesitantly) at her. He was generally used to the little gold when she was well behaved, but having her screech loudly while perched on his head? That was rather scary.

Anassa was glad when some visiting Harpers and the others that had musical talents in the weyr took up the song to continue playing. It left her free to accept the appealing offer from the bronzerider holding his hand out to her.
She put her pipes back into the belt purse attached to her skirt. She had a pretty Harper blue blouse embroidered with some little flowers and flitts about the hem in white thread. The skirt was dark brown and somewhat plain but that didn't bother Anassa. She had the more ornamental blade attached to the sash that held her belt purse. Her pretty sandals left her feet partially bare.
"I don't believe there are any others in line Bronzerider G'han." She said with a smile. "Unfortunately, I'm not often on the dancing end of a Gather or feast. I am usually playing even though I learned to dance well." Considering the fact that he wasn't the best dancer, she had taken to nudging him a bit faster where the tempo called for it, but not enough that it would offend him. She didn't want to insult him by taking the lead, and he wasn't bad enough a dancer to warrant that.

[Naret is still there. just nobody to interact with right now.]
Despite any ill-feelings she often had towards guys in general, Tanwen managed to put it aside when a dance came up. It was probably because dance was so similar to her training style, and the fact that her original teacher for that training had been a guy. Tanwen did catch the flicker of disappointment across D'car's face at her response before he hid is expressions away again, and she quirked an eyebrow ever so slightly at the instance. When he started leading the through a series of more complicated dance moves, she was content in following the lead. He actually was pretty good; she imagined he'd be..at least fair at the style of fighting Mercer had taught her, if he ever got the chance to learn it.
Maybe it was just the bit of awkwardness she felt coming off of him in the instance where their dance brought them closer together, but Tanwen felt the sudden shift from calm-dance to mild-awkward as well. There was a flicker in the back of her mind that was ready to shift into flooring him if need be, but the rest of her mind was aware that nothing like that seemed to be his intentions at all. He actually looked...confused?
The thought was pulled away when she was suddenly dropped back into a dip, shifting away from the oddity of a moment, and then they were back to the basic dance pose. When he spoke up again she raised her eyebrows ever so slightly, the smile returning to the corner of her grin. "A little," she decided to admit. "You're pretty good." She was even tentative to think that she might be saying it just to appease the mildly disappointed look she'd seen on his face earlier.

When the brown flit was taken back by Catilena V'ael had no problem with giving it up - he didn't want to hold it, he'd just been getting it off of Z'ayr. The weyrling looked between the others there as they shot comments back and forth, relaxing up now that he noticed Z'ayr relaxing as well. He looked back to the bluerider when he spoke up, and nodded with a smile. "It's nothin," he said in reply to the thanks. "Ye would've done the same." Of course, V'ael didn't have such a fear of flits, but the aspect was still there.
As Z'ayr went on to reply to Catilena V'ael looked down to where his friend was still gripping onto his arm. He had a feeling he wouldn't be allowed to get away even if he were to try. The greenrider looked back to Aesa when she struggled to get away, and let his grip on her loosen so she could climb up to his shoulder. "There ye are, girl," he said to try and calm her, though she seemed to be getting there already. He lifted his not-clung-to-arm and ran his finger along her back, and looked over to Z'ayr when he smiled at the flit.
"Don't ye be worryin," he said, patting the hand Z'ayr had on his arm briefly. "Aesa's about as likely te hurt ye as Dinayth is."

(OCC: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I am literally clinging to the desk for dear life, I am laughing so hard! Z'ayr+Irrational fears = epic win! I was wondering how he would react to a "flit attack", I had no idea it would turn into a heart attack! Hahaha, Akki, I am falling in love with your character's more and more!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(C)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Catilena let out a huge sigh of relief when Z'ayr told her she had nothing to worry about. She looked up at him and smiled awkwardly.
"I know, but Mosaic should have known better, really. One thing is for sure, I am going to have a long talk with that critter the next time I see him." She said pointedly, still angry with the absent flit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(D)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D'lan tilted his head at Z'ayr before shaking it and sighing.
"What a strange one you are. I can't imagine a firelizard doing anything that would cause such a great fear of them. I combed the beaches of Southern lots of times for eggs when I was little and have seen them do some crazy things, but nothing worth fearing really." He said. It wasn't that he didn't care, for D'lan didn't have a mean bone in his body, or even a mean cell, he was just confused as to what would make a dragonrider so deathly afraid of something as small and harmless as a flit.
Remember mine, this one is strange. You never know how different things affect different people. Lenoth said, looking at Z'ayr with an inquisitive stare.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(R)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Relina had momentarily stopped dancing to look at the commotion coming from her sister and the groups she was with. Relina looked at them confused and was unsure of what happened. She turned to Faine and shared her thoughts.
"I wonder what is going on." She said. She mentally called Zorn and Rhythm to her and they both appeared, circling her and Faine.
Show me what happened to Mosaic's girl. She told them. An image of Mosaic tumbling into Z'ayr and a gold flit appearing to confront him while the bluerider looked terrified found its way into her head from Zorn. The scene was so comical it was enough to make Relina giggle. She turned to Faine.
"It seems the redhead by my sister is not fond of firelizards. Mosaic fell into him and scared him senseless. Kind of sad but kind of funny at the same time, don't you agree?" She inquired of her friend.
G'han grinned as he listened to Anassa. "Well since you have the talent, it's a good thing I asked you to dance. You'll get to show it off", G'han responded to her in a tone that was gentle and conversational. True that G'han wasn't the best dancer in the weyr, but he did his best with the music. He was actually a bit thankful that Anassa signaled to him what he needed to do and when. It wasn't really blatent. Her nudgings felt more like suggestions, and G'han was usually open to suggestion on many things. Dance was included.
"But if we're to properly show this skill off. Perhaps it best the lady lead and I follow?", G'han did a little suggesting of his own to Anassa. He wouldn't mind if she did lead. G'han was a bit passive like that. It was also hard for G'han to not sound flirty, especially when he was dancing with a girl. But he did his best to suppress it. After all, his plan was to lead her to V'ian and let them have a dance of their own. He and V'ian were buds, right? That's what buds did.
G'han saw that he had taken up a dance with Andilay. G'han wanted to kick himself in the forehead now. Really V'ian? Well played. Well played indeed. This would make this just as hard on G'han, perhaps, as hard as it would be for V'ian. So G'han thought. He had led Anassa close enough to them. Hopefully when/if she took lead, then she wouldn't distance them. Then they could trade up.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D'car looked at Tanwen curiously. That answer was actually better than he was hoping. He was expecting something indifferent or about the same as the nonverbal response. He had to catch himself from smiling. He didn't smile. He had to stop that! What was all this silliness coming from him anyway? That emotionless face wouldn't show that smile though, it refused. It refused just as greatly as D'car himself did.
How was he to respond now? Stop being so fussy over this. Speak your mind. Do you like this one? Tell her. D'car's brown spoke up yet again. D'car didn't like one thing about being a weyrling. He had an intruder in his mind. And he was always there to comment on his thoughts. Shut up. My thoughts are my own. And I have no such feelings. So just shut it. D'car snapped back at his dragon. How dare he present such a crazy notion. He didn't like anyone, even if that someone was a girl.
"Good", he said simply. They continued dancing for awhile. For a few awkward moments, D'car was thinking what to do next. Was he to...converse with her? D'car was not a conversationalist. But he didn't like the alternative of staring at this girl in silence. "Then you're eating your words", D'car said. That probably wasn't the best thing to tell her, right? Well atleast it wasn't in that usual gruff tone. His tone was a bit softer than he usually allowed, something close to friendly. D'car definently had alot to practice in the social graces department. But hey. Atleast he could dance, right?

Tanwen thought she saw an almost-flicker of some sort of emotion on D'car's face, but it was gone just as soon as she thought she'd noticed it. She gave a nod when he finally did reply, and when they went on dancing in the quiet for a few moments she let her gaze switch around the room briefly; she'd never been one for staring. When he spoke up again she looked back, and the smile at the corner of her mouth turned into more of a sly grin.
"My words? Maybe," she admitted, shrugging a bit without disrupting the dance stance too much. "I didn't really doubt that you could dance," she admitted. "I just wanted to see how much provoking it would take for you to prove it." Usually she didn't reveal her 'master plan' to people, but the bit she knew of D'car (which really wasn't too much, but she could remember the conversation they'd had back in candidate-hood) had given her a certain level of respect. He didn't seem the type to back down from a challenge, and being the fighter that she was, she respected that.

D'car seemed to find a bit of relief when he noticed Tanwen was not staring at him. He remembered when he was taught to dance. His partner's eyes rarely left him. It didn't seem all that awkward to him back then. Infact up until just now, D'car had always thought it a necessary part of dancing. So why had it changed now?
He was probably at the point in his life where it went beyond not admitting truth. It went into him actually believing he didn't know. It would be hard for him to believe he actually liked a person. He spent too much time hating life and the world in general.
But now Tanwen had caught wind of what he had said and turned her attention to him. D'car half expected her to snap at him for the comment. It wasn't the most flattering thing to say. But what was this? Instead she had indulged his style of conversation. How very unpredictable. D'car continued listening to her. When her master plan was revealed, D'car was actually surprised.
"Is that so? Why would you do such a thing? Did you desire to dance with me?", D'car asked her three questions, with his eyebrow raised. Oh he wasn't hitting on her or the like. D'car was actually confused. Why would she provoke him into dancing with her? Why would she want to dance with him?
Perhaps she likes you as well. If D'car's dragonet was trying to play voice of reason, he was failing at it. Infact, all it was doing was irritating the weyrling. D'car had gotten use to the brown's blunt, dominant attitude. But this was a whole new level. I won't deem that with a response. I said shut it. As well? As well?! D'car would kick some dragonet butt if he didn't know any better. But he'd settle himself down. D'car suspected the brown might be intentionally riling him. He did that sometimes.

Andilay chuckled. "Well, yes and no. See, you know me before the silver glory that is Veritath found me. You even knew me in a kind and friendly manner. I'd say that already puts you up head and shoulders over quite a few."
She lightly patted his shoulder at the admission that his dragon had delayed him. "Aw, that's too bad. I hope everything is well with him though?" She let a hand trail down her dress to lightly rest on Veritath's head. The silver blinked, then looked at her bonded.
Veritath was very flattered by the compliment and greeting. Yes, I like this friend mine. You can keep this one most assuredly.
Andilay chuckled again. Oh, screening my friends, now are you? Well, I will listen to your judgment, and keep it as wise council, but many of my friends either have worked hard for their place in my heart or simply have my trust.
Trust is a good thing mine.
That it is, my beloved.
On that note she happily set her hand in V'ian's, a smile on her lips. "Then you have never had a proper dance partner. After all, if your flexible, you just need to be led by the right person, or have fluid support. Nothing is quite like dancing with someone who has danced with death and charmed him to her will." There was truth to her words, an eerie truth, but it also had a hint of mirth in it. Andilay enjoyed dancing, for swordplay was much like a dance.

From the little she'd seen of D'car in Weyrling training and on that first meeting, he was pegged easily enough as someone who didn't show much emotion on his face (She also recognized it so easily, probably, because she used to make her face a blank slate as well). As such, when his eyebrows went up she felt a certain amount of satisfaction. With Vessayith's help, she'd been able to recently admit to herself that she actually...did enjoy being social. The interaction with various people was usually very interesting, and she'd actually found herself enjoying how everyone reacted differently to various conversations. She was tentative to admit that perhaps her underlying intention here was to try and help D'car come to much the same conclusion, since he seemed to be in much the same way that she had once been. So when his blank-slate of a mask cracked even slightly, she felt a little accomplished. Maybe this was how Z'ayr felt, early in their friendship, when he used to wrench smiles out of her?
She shrugged again when he asked his questions. "I was mostly curious to see if you'd do it, considering you're always avoiding people like the plague. I know I used to avoid phsyical contact by any means necessary." She left it mostly at that, thought for a breif moment, and then added. "I guess, also, I just haven't danced with very many people at Dark Moon. One was in a mask and the other..." she gave an exasperated sigh that was almost part growl, "well, good riddance."

Tanwen had probably managed to get the most curious looks out of D'car ever, and all in one night. This dance wasn't what he expected. He chided himself thinking if he would have kept his head then he wouldn't have been dancing with her in the first place. D'car never thought himself irrational until tonight.
"Yes. There's a reason for that", D'car started his response, giving a small dramatic pause in his words before finishing the thought in the very next moment, "People annoy me." It was a very general statement, but when it came to hating people then D'car wasn't being discriminating. He looked over to find the woman that had urged him to the feast dancing with some random person. "And yet they still pester me", he said in a very annoyed tone.
He turned his attention back to her. "Used to?", he asked, noticing more attentively now where he placed his hands. Well, there was physical contact in dancing. Yet here she was. Had to be past tense. After she would answer that question, they continued the conversation. D'car oddly felt impressed with himself. He was holding a half-decent conversation with someone. It was rare, if not non-existant. But D'car had to wonder why he cared in the first place.
One. Two. She only mentioned dancing with two others before him. Was he only her third dance partner? How strange. "And the third?", he asked out of his own curiousity and attempt to make conversation. Perhaps if it had been any other guy, it would have sounded flirtatious or as if someone was turning up the charm. D'car was dull to charm. He would probably never be able to do so, though he probably wouldn't ever care to in the first place. So he stayed oblivious to such a thing, even when he asked his question.

Tanwen nodded her head once side in a half-shrug at his reasoning. "Fair enough," she said to the general statement. To the next part that he added in, she said, "The way I see it, if you're gonna live here with all these people - in the Weyr - you have to learn how to get along." She smiled, more earnestly due to where her thoughts had gone for her next comment. "I think I have Vessayith to thank for that," she said, also answering his 'used to' question.
Tanwen turned her attention back to D'car when he asked his next question. She put on a pondering expression for a moment, and then shrugged once more. "He's doing better than the second, in that he hasn't earned himself a drop-kick," she said. The music slowed and came to an end then, and their dancing would come to a stop as well. She let her hands down and took a step back to stand still at conversation-distance to him. "I'm not so sure about the mask," she added. If D'car was wearing a mask, it was one she sort of recognized from her first months at the Weyr.

D'car had to admit that she had a point. He was stuck in a weyr that forced him to interact with people on many different levels. And now that he had impressed, he was a dragonrider. He would be made to interact even further in many other ways as he continued to progress in this lifestyle.
D'car shrugged his shoulders slightly. "Admitingly, you're right in that. Still, it would make things easier if this was done at a more satisfying pace, this adjustment. However, it is not so", D'car admitted to her. Tanwen knew what to say to him, D'car thought. Perhaps the two were more similiar than either would admit. Though Tanwen seemed to be at a point in her life that D'car had yet to reach.
D'car grinned. He actually grinned. Something about the comment amused him. For a moment, he allowed himself to let his guard down and actually show a bit of positive emotion. For once, he didn't mind. "Is that so?", he asked rhetorically. He remembered that kick she gave when skipping rocks. It was quite impressive. "Judging from our encounter at the lake, that's a good thing", he spoke honestly, but his tone was lighter than usual. Now it actually did sound friendly.
D'car didn't want to admit it, but he was accepting Tanwen more and more as they were together. He already held some respect for her after their encounter at the lake. But now it was going beyond that. Might D'car actually consider her a...friend now? That'd be a first. D'car actually having a friend.
When the dance ended, D'car released Tanwen as she stepped away at conversational distance. The music was over, but D'car was a bit disppointed. He was actually enjoying it. It had been so long since he was taught to dance. It was a sort of nastalgic feeling for him, but one he liked.
D'car allowed a bit of that gruffness to return, however. "Pah. Masks. I thought the whole idea was silly, so I did not attend. The concept of hiding who you are behind some mask and fake identity", D'car gave his honest opinion. It was something that would probably never change, D'car's bluntness and willingness to speak his mind.
There had been a pause in the music. Enough time to readjust for the next, it seemed. D'car looked over to those who started up a new song, then turned back to Tanwen. He offered his hand forward. D'car must have been out of his mind, but by now he seemed less hesitant to let his guard down and actually interact with someone. He had finally found someone he didn't mind interacting with.
"Care for another dance? I have the feeling I've yet to completely impress you", D'car asked her to a dance yet again, and gave a pretty good reason for it. Which was pretty much truth. D'car did want to impress her, right? He'd not be satisfied until it was 100%. It was part of his personality. If he wasn't willing to complete something, he had no business starting out to begin with.

Z’ayr offered V’ael a sheepish grin, “I don’t know if I would have done the same. I probably would have been screaming loudly for someone to help.” He couldn’t help it, flits just scared him. Badly. There was just something about them and their beady, churning eyes and how they liked to wrap their tails around your neck when they perched on your shoulder. The bluerider was convinced that they were just waiting for the opportunity to strangle you and he wasn’t going to take that chance.
It seemed like Aesa was there just to prove him wrong, wrapping her golden tail around V’aels neck as she chirped and crooned her little heart out. Z’ayr grimaced at his friend’s comparison, “Dinayth would definitely hurt me in a second. He ripped up one of my shirts because he thought it was a fashion faux-pas.” It had been one of his favorite shirts too! Stupid blue.
He grinned at Catilena, “I think I scared your flitt enough with my reaction that he probably won’t be coming near me for a while.” If he had scared the critter, he didn’t do it on purpose – it had scared him first. He turned to D’lan, “The firelizard attacked my face! And that’s the only thing I have going for me!”
-----
Faine followed Relina’s gaze and admitted with a grin, “I’m curious now too.” The group seemed to have grown slightly and there was definitely some sort of commotion going on over there – she could hear the screeching of firelizards which then stopped rather suddenly.
Within seconds, firelizards were circling around them and Faine couldn’t help but smile at the creatures. She liked flits, they were so cute and precious looking! She was glad that Relina had two of them; they seemed to comfort the girl when she was in need of said comfort. Faine liked knowing that her friend had someone to be with her when she couldn’t be. She snickered when Relina told her what had happened but felt bad about the entire situation, “That poor boy! I’m not sure how you could be scared of them though.”
-----
V’ian pumped his fist into the air, grinning at Andilay. “I like being ahead of the others.” He laughed as he let his arm fall back to his side. He liked Andilay – she would definitely make an interesting Junior Weyrwoman, especially when she joined games of ‘Seduce that person’.
“His dignity was hurt. Waeith was backed into a corner thanks to a canine so it serves him right.” He grinned widely. He was never going to let the bronze forget about this – it was just too good. He let his fingers close around the girls hand and listened carefully to her words. “Flexibility? This is me you’re talking too; you know my sister – flexibility doesn’t exactly run in our family, neither does coordination.” He offered with a slightly sheepish smile.
“I don’t know if I want to dance with someone who has charmed death to her will. I feel very emasculated.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(C)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Catilena sighed at Z'ayr and nodded.
"Yeah, I guess so. He probably won't even remember why I got mad at him anyway." She mumbled. This certainly was an interesting altercation, and she had no doubt in her mind that her sister would learn of this event and berate her for allowing Mosaic to behave in such a manner. She decided she would enjoy her time here while she could and beamed at Z'ayr.
"You'll save a dance for me won't ya hun? Say, after the feast, you should introduce me to your blue! I bet he's as much fun as his rider." She said playfully.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(D)~~~~~~~~~~
D'lan looked at Z'ayr wryly.
"Attacked your face? I find that hard to believe." He said, sighing. He looked at Z'ayr with an intense gaze.
"Well, whatever makes you 'you' I guess." He stated, slowly retreating back into his shell.
I can't believe I just questioned an older rider! What is wrong with me? He thought. Lenoth turned his head back to D'lan and gently touched his shoulder.
Nothing is wrong with you at all Mine. You are perfect just as you are. Lenoth said in an adoring tone. D'lan chuckled and patted his dragon's neck affectionately.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(R)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Relina smiled at her friend.
"Neither can I, I don't know what I would've done without Zorn, the dear saved my life you know. He's the only family I ever really had until I came to Dark Moon." She said, beckoning her flits to her. Zorn and Rhythm landed on her shoulders lightly and she stroked their heads. Smiling at Faine, she cleared her throat.
"I do believe you haven't met the newest member of my family. Faine, meet Rhythm." She said, angling the shoulder carrying the green closer to Faine so she could see her up close. The patient flit stared at Faine with curiosity, pondering the redhead her bonded presented to her.
Tanwen shrugged. "It was fun," she said about the masquerade, though that hadn't actually been her intended meaning behind her comment about a mask. She looked at his hand and quirked an eyebrow slightly when he offered it, looking back up to him when he spoke up once again.
"So you're still trying at that?" she asked, reaching forward and accepting the dance-request as she did so. "It'll take more than twirls and steps to impress me." She'd been mildly impressed before, but probably not to the level that he was going for. She thought she'd give him another shot at it. Might be interesting.
- - -
V'ael shrugged. "Maybe not fer a firelizard attack," he replied to Z'ayr. "But I'd be willin te bet ye'd help me out with most other dangers." He shifted his attention briefly to Aesa when she started her crooning, tilting his head enough so that she could nuzzle against his cheek easier. Anyone looking might have guessed that it was V'ael who Aesa was bonded too, but V'ael always figured it was just because he was friends with Z'ayr that she was so friendly.
"That's rough," he said to the bit about the shirt. "I haven't seen much of yer Dinayth face te face, now that I think of it." He smiled. "D'ye think maybe he'll ease up on ye if he saw the way I dressed?"
V'ael looked back to the other two with Z'ayr when the conversation melded again. He smiled at her suggestion to Z'ayr about meeting his blue, and nodding in agreement. "If ye do, maybe I could join ye?" he suggested, looking back to Z'ayr. "Aeydrith's been lookin te meet him as well." It made sense, considering the blue's rider was her rider's friend.
Z’ayr winked at Catilena with the promise of, “I’ll save dances for everyone m’dear.” Especially for a certain someone, not that he would admit it right now.
Z’ayr grimaced slightly – he wasn’t sure if ‘fun’ was the word he’d use to describe Dinayth. “I’d love for all of you to meet him but just ignore anything he says.” Z’ayr advised, not even wanting to imagine what the blue would spill out. Z’ayr pointed to the tiny little scar that was located at the end of his right eyebrow. “He tried to rip my face off! If I hadn’t fought him off, half of my face would have been peeled off. There’s no doubt in my mind.”
Z’ayr looked at the ground for a second, a smile on his face before laughing, “I’d fight dragons off of you V’ael, I promise.” Z’ayr drummed his fingers along his jawline, trying to decide whether or not Dinayth would ease up on him. “Probably not. I think he’s picky with me because I’m his bonded and I make him look bad when I wear ‘ugly’ clothes.” Z’ayr sniffed. He didn’t even own any clothes! Z’ayr beamed and nodded his head, “Dinayth would love to meet Aeydrith.”
For the most part, Faine was never really without family. Sure her and her sister never got along, but the redhead still considered them to be family and her parents were always there for her. She supposed when she first came to Dark Moon she didn’t have any actually family but now she considered Relina and the other people she met to be them. She was glad that Relina at least had Zorn before coming to Dark Moon – glad that the critter was there for her.
She wriggled her fingers at the green, smiling at her. “Nice to meet you Rhythm.” Rhythm and Zorn; two nice names, Faine definitely liked them. However at the same time, Faine was glad she didn’t have any firelizards of her own – she had the vague feeling that Colvarinth was going to be a handful by herself.
"Not my idea of fun", D'car spoke up honestly. It really wasn't. The feast, he didn't mind so much. He wasn't hiding behind who he wasn't. He showed himself as who he was and people interacted with him and gave a response that they would give him to his face. Not someone they thought wasn't him. There was no misinterpretation in that, atleast. There was some honesty in this.
He hadn't noticed at all that she meant a mask he wore. The one that said go away and leave me alone. But could it have really been considered a mask if he truely felt that way? Or was it a mask, like one of those scarey ones you would use to keep people away. Despite the fact you were wearing a mask, that sort of mask had true intentions behind it.
But he looked at Tanwen curiously when she asked her question. Of course he was, he hadn't completed what he set out to do. D'car couldn't leave something unfinished. He would vocalize that. "What's the point of going for something if you quit before you've completed it?", he answered her question with one of his own.
D'car shrugged at her comment. It hadn't taken what he used so far to completely impress her, so he hadn't expected it to all of a sudden just because he did it again. "I also doubt that it would. But I'm willing to see what I come up with. And I'll take as many chances as is given to me", D'car admitted to her. Only D'car could say such things without the charm or flirtatious nature behind them.
He took her hand in his and resumed the normal dance posture. The beat of the music hadn't required anything out of the ordinary yet. But D'car wasn't one to start things out with a bang anyway.
Andilay smiled, then threw her head back in a bout of rich laughter. "A large bronze cornered by a canine. He'll never live it down."
She took careful steps and gave V'ian a reassuring look. "Do not worry- if you trip, I'll dip; if you stumble, I'll shuffle; if you step on my feet, you become dead meat." Her eyes smiled, giving away the falseness of her last statement. "Just kidding. You won't step on my feet because they are too hard to catch unawares. Much like myself." Though G'han tends to catch you unawares just fine. ~Shhhhh inner self. Shhhh, I say!~
A light laugh escaped her at V'ian's comment of feeling emasculated by dancing with her. "Then my purpose for this night is complete. I can happily skip off to my bed knowing that I have made a bronze rider feel inferior to my prowess. Not too shabby for the first night as a Jr. Weyrwoman, I'd say." She couldn't help but give him a saucy wink before adding, "But you know, death isn't the only thing I can charm."
Ah, she loved being mischievous.
Anassa flashed a pretty smile. "I thought you'd never ask." There was amusement and anticipation in her voice. It had been such a long time since she had been able to dance, and even longer since she'd had a partner that was willing to relinquish control so that she could show off her talent.
"Ready to learn something Wingleader G'han?" The Harpers were livening up the tune, and she took the lead as he had suggested, leading him into the intricate dance. She counted under her breath to help him keep up with the tempo. It was just a quicker version of a traditional step, but the speed made the steps a little harder to do.
"How is your bronze? I've seen the twins around, harrying the people who are watching them," she said, remembering the day that he had returned to the weyr to discover his children had grown quite quickly in the time he had been away.
"True enough," Tanwen said to the comment about not starting something you weren't going to finish. It was a pretty good philosophy to stand by, too, she figured. Of course, she thought idly, she hadn't exactly stuck-to-it with glasscraft training.
When he spoke up again, she found herself very appreciative of the fact that his voice made it clear he wasn't laying on the charm. If he had been, she probably would've changed her mind and just went back to the weyrling barracks. She simply nodded in reply, and let him take her hand as the music started up again. She would admit to herself that she was actually a bit curious as to what he'd try to do next on his mission to impress.
