K'laht flipped up from the table and did a somersault and landed feet first on the ground. He looked back at Kegin and smiled. He pointed him out to Sh'vian. She sighed and approached. She smiled at him.
"Enjoying the festivities?" she asked. Sh'vian sat down next to Kegin. Come, I've got a better idea. I hope your in the mood to get wet." She held her hand out for him take. "Would you like to come with me? I am Greenrider Sh'vian of Green Diragyth. I don't like big crowds. They make me.......nervous."
She saw the bluerider dancing with just about everyone. But will she dance with females as well? Seeing how she moved peaked her interest. She patted Kegin on the shoulder. --------------------------------- K'laht went up to a girl and actually began talking with her! Quiet a change for him. He remembered he was a stuttered, nervous wreck. He had come such a long way from that person. He smiled as he did so.
"Hello." he said to one of the girls. "Are you enjoying yourself?" he inquired. "Would you like you dance, milady?"

D'car took another sip of his drink and looked at Tanwen as she answered his question. "So I see", D'car answered simply and swiftly before taking another bite of a meatroll. D'car had to admit to himself that he was rather quick to jump to a certain conclusion, no matter how obvious it was. Still, there was no remorse in this realization. Anyone could have easily thought what she implied was a lack of dancing ability on the part of the person she was having a conversation with.
D'car washed the meatroll down with yet another swallow of drink. So she would take response to what he had thought she implied. He'd be quick to respond to her. "Perhaps I thought you were implying something that would hit a nerve", D'car nudged that conversation forward. Best she not doubt him one way or another. He disliked people making assumptions about him that were wrong. Best she know so that he wouldn't be bothered by it.

Relina smirked at Faine and leaned back, enjoying the moment. She paid little attention to V’ael’s words as she looked mischievously at her friend.
“Hn, so, I am getting hungry Faine. Shall we sit and enjoy our meal? Or perhaps we could start dancing?” She suggested, figuring her friend had squirmed enough.

Catilena laughed heartily when he said he was too sweet for a dragon’s taste and shook her head joyously at him.
“Ha, I have no doubt that you are dear. No doubt whatsoever.” She said, closing her eyes and smiling at him.
Oh boy Mosaic, this guy is fun! I like him, I think my poor sister will hate him though, he’s too “out there” for her. She told her flit, who had no idea what she was saying. He just appeared by her and landed on her shoulder, looking at the strange bluerider. Upon listening to the conversation, Catilena felt warmth when he approved of her attitude and was lightly amused by his offer of his blue.
“Careful what you promise hun, I might just hold you to that.” She joked.

D’lan shifted uncomfortably when Z’ayr started talking to his dragon and he wasn’t sure whether or not he should answer. Lenoth answered that question for him.
This one is strange mine, but he is nice. Tell him my name and tell him “thank you” for me. Lenoth said. D’lan gulped and turned to Z’ayr.
“H-his name is Lenoth, and I am Dael---I mean D’lan.” He said, getting used to his new name. He gulped and moved closer to his dragon, placing a hand on his shoulder.
Are you alright, Mine? I sense no danger. Lenoth said. D’lan nodded and pat his dragon lightly.
I’m fine, just not used to new people Lenoth. He explained as he focused his eyes on Z’ayr.

Kegin was a bit surprised by the greenrider. he looked at the dancers and sighed. "I just can't dance to save me." He saw the way she looked at Akki and lifted a brow. "Why don't you ask her to dance. Akki is the type to enjoy anyone." Kegin chuckled and looked at her. It seemed like Akki drew everyones attention. And she did look like she was having fun. He wished he knew how to dance. Kalaht or whatever his new name was even found someone to dance with. He wanted to stay and have fun but it didn't seem like any would even try dancing with him.
Kegin looked around and messed with his food. He wasn't sure what to really do. Kegin looked at the rider and grinned. "Just go up and ask her she will say yes or put you on the waiting list. I am not really sure exactly how she decides how to do what she wants."

Sh'vian laughed. "No, I have a better idea. Will you come with me, please?" She walked out of the room. She smiled at Kegin, trying to beckon him to come hither. There was no look of mischief or deceit. Just a woman who wanted to be away from the crowd to a little peace where it wasn't quiet so noisy. "I would like some company for a quick swim? There is bound to be people at the lake as well."
Sh'vian wasn't like the others; she took her time to know people and hopefully this one will turn into a good friendship. "Think of it as a new opportunity, my dear. I would like to try and be your friends and get to know you without this noise about." There was a glint of respect in her eyes. She walked away, stopping to see if he would follow. "Do not feel obligated to follow me, good sir. It's your choice. If not, I will not be upset. It was just a thought is all."

"I am rather hungry," Jeri admitted reluctantly, then insisted, "but I don't want you to get it by yourself. We can go together."
"I'm not sure I can get him to call me Jeri," she said thoughtfully. "From what time I've spent with him, he seems very.. determined. No," she recanted that statement. "Decisive. I have the feeling that when he really wants something, I will be hard pressed to change his mind." She was remembering the finality with which he had told her he was going to sleep. "So I suppose it will just be you calling me Jeri," she said with a smile at her friend.

[Sorry for the long wait, was a mixture of homework/etc and waiting to see if someone else would post and i could reply with all my characters at once. Also, seem to have a tiiiny bit o 'no idea what to post', so this is probably going to be really, really short but..I figure hopefully we'll get past that into not-short posts again xD;; ]
"Oh, of course," she said nodding and finishing off the rest of her juice. "That's understandable." Tanwen pushed her chair away from the table and gathered her plate and cup to bring them back to the kitchen. "But..." she paused after she stood, looked thoughtful for a moment, and then shrugged. "Well, if you have difficulty dancing, you could always just say it next time." Directly after she spoke Tanwen turned and walked away from the table. She didn't doubt that he would have some sort of response quick enough, and wasn't really 'running away' from it; she'd just so happened to think up the comment right on her way to putting her dishes away.

D'car had listened to her without a thought of having to react to anything else she had said. After all, it seemed they now had an understanding. D'car had taken the cup before him and pressed it against his lips to take another sip when he heard her add a 'but'. D'car just knew this wasn't going to be anything good.
He had just let the liquid enter his mouth when she suddenly assumed he had difficulty dancing. Him?! How dare she assume such a thing. And now she was going to leave on that note? Ohoho no. D'car may not have liked human contact, but he hated being misjudged even more. He spit out his drink when he heard the words and wiped his mouth.
He dashed up from the table and walked beside her. He then stood infront of her. "And I gave you reason to assume I had "difficulty" dancing?", he snapped back with his question. He definently felt the challenge, whether she intended it or not. "Let's dance", he stated boldly. He hadn't asked, but rather he was answering this challenge. He'd prove her how well he could dance, then it'd all be said and done. He would be right.

In truth, Tanwen's comment had nothing to do with doubting that D'car could dance. She'd actually be surprised if he couldn't - with all the gathers that went on, most people could at least somewhat dance. She'd actually been trying to see how much provoking it would take for some sort of challenge to come up, though she wasn't entirely sure what had made her want to try something like that. Apparently she was getting better at socializing than she realized.
Tanwen turned around to face him when he issued the official 'challenge,' smiling out the corner of her mouth once more. She set her plate and cup down on a nearby empty table, gave a light shrug and then nodded. "Alright," she said. "Lets." Of course, independent though she was, she'd wait for him to make the move towards the dance floor.

D'car had a very intent look on his face when he had answered this so called challenge. How dare someone doubt him! But now that she had actually decided to dance with him, D'car had a very different look on his face. It was one of realization. What did he just get himself into. He was actually going to dance with a girl? He was going to dance with Tanwen? He must be crazy.
D'car had dug himself a hole, so now he'd lay in it. He got himself into this, so he would stick with it. When Tanwen waited for him to make the first move, old habits that he had been taught kicked in. He took her hand in his and led her. It was odd how D'car seemed to switch from this spiteful little troll to someone half decent.
D'car hadn't grabbed her, but took her hand gently and guided her out to the dance floor to an area open for them. He then turned, released her hand with his left hand only to take it up with the right. He rested another hand at the small of her back, and dared not go lower. D'car wasn't that type of guy in any shape, form, or fashion.
He then led her gracefully into the music. Two steps back, one step right, another step forward, turn, spin, twirl Tanwen out while keeping their hold with their hands, then bring her back and rest his hand in the same spot. A dip when she returned, and D'car looked directly into Tanwen's eyes. He allowed the dip to last one moment more than it should have, just so Tanwen would have enough time to think. Whatever her thoughts may be. He then turned them both upright and took another step back.
As they continued to dance he gave her a look. The look was obvious. It was something that said "Are you impressed yet?" or "Did I prove you wrong?" or something very similiar to these questions. The song was not yet over, so neither was the dance. But D'car was out to prove to Tanwen that she'd eat her words. D'car could only wonder what her reaction, her response, would be.

Andilay started at the sound of a familiar voice, and turned to find V'ian initiating a conversation.... no, scratch that. He had asked her to dance. Andilay could feel the mischief dancing in her own eyes. Ahh, even though she had only met this bronze rider once, she knew she enjoyed his company.
"May I point out that plenty of other riders, weyrlings, and candidates, are also not dancing. Myself included. But, in order to help you with your current predicament, I accept your humble request to dance with you." She gave him a light nudge and glanced around the feast hall. "However, my friend was here earlier, she does not seem to be around anywhere. You must have missed her since you were fashionably late."
She lightly chuckled as V'ian's attention was brought down to her new companion.
Who is this mine? A friend?
Yes. "V'ian, may I introduce my silver queen dragon, Veritath. Veritath, this is my friend V'ian. He is a bronze rider. And a very big bronze if rumor is correct."
The silver turned her head to the side as she scrutinized her mine's friend. He seems nice.

Blissy was a little miffed at the other green rider that came over to start flirting with Kegin. Borrowing the male candidate's words, she had seen him first, shard it! She liked Kegin, for all that technically she could not get involved with him, now that she was a weyrling (mores the pitty). But still, she felt she had staked a claim, of sorts, on the taller male. Not to mention the proximity of herself to him.
She frowned but stood in wait. If Kegin left, well, that was his choice. But a red head's ire was a slow thing to abate... and it would take a bit for her to forgive him... even if he saw it as he did nothing wrong.
A taller male presence grabbed her attention for a moment. Her brother was here. Well, if Kegin left, there was her course of action. She would go great her big bro, Weyrleader of her new weyr.

Faine’s body was filled with reliefed when V’ael accepted her rather bad explanation. She was so worried that she had given everything away! If Z’ayr liked V’ael then Faine would let the bluerider tell him – she was keeping her mouth shut from now on. She listened to V’ael’s thoughts no Impression and frowned slightly. What did Colvarinth see in her that nobody else saw? Her thoughts were back to V’ael though when she blinked at him with wide eyes, “We’re not supposed to argue with them?” Oops.
She looked at her dragon just in time to see Naret’s smile. She relaxed; the boy clearly didn’t mind the gold poking around him. While Ikarit was a sucker for being pet, Colvarinth was a sucker for soft things it seemed. Her diva attitude had disappeared for the moment; she was too caught up in paying attention to the funny little animal. She rubbed the side of her face against Ikarit, her eyes churning green with excitement. Colvarinth paused, lightly headbutted Naret and then declared to not only Faine but the boy too.
I like him!
Faine let out a laugh at Colvarinth’s statement, covering her mouth to hide her wide grin. She let her hand drop as she nodded to Relina, “Let’s dance first!” She quickly grabbed the girls hand and flashed a smile at V’ael and Naret, “You two should join us! Or ask someone to dance.”. She glanced at Colvarinth but already knew that the dragon would wait there for them – there was no way she was going to go into the crowd of dancers, somebody would step on her tail! Faine smiled at the two boys one last time before steering Relina to the dance floor, spinning the girl once when they had reached it.
------
Z’ayr let a hand flutter to Catilena’s arm, “Oh dear, please do hold me to that. He’s such a snob!” It was an odd sight to see Z’ayr calling Dinayth a snob – afterall the bluerider was practically the epitome of flamboyancy. He was the boy that color coded his clothes (Light to dark) and made sure that no dirt ever found their way onto his garbs. People were used to him by now though – or at least, most of them.
“Lenoth, eh? I nice name.” He nodded with a smile, glancing down at the bronze. “Nice to meet you Lenoth.” He lifted his eyes from the bronze and to D’lan, “And you too, of course.” Z’ayr hid a snicker, taking note of the fact that D’lan seemed rather nervous around him - the bluerider had that effect on people. “How long have you two been around Dark Moon? I haven’t seen you guys around before.”
Mostly because he spent his time grooming either himself or Dinayth.
------
V’ian grinned at the girl, “The others aren’t Junior Weyrwoman though. My plan is too suck up to you as quickly as I can. Isn’t that how bronzeriders survive in this world?” V’ian glanced around, just to see if he could spot Rayn but it seemed that Andilay was right – she didn’t seem to be around. He rubbed the back of his neck and grinned sheepishly, “The fashionably late part wasn’t planned. Waeith had some issues and now messed up my entire night.”
He smiled down, “Veritath is a lovely name. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He nodded his head at Andilay’s last comment, “Oh yup, sure. And he’s manly too. The manliest bronze you will ever see.” He hid a grin when the image of Waeith being backed into a corner by a canine popped into his head.
The bronzerider offered his hand to Andilay, “Just to give you a heads up though, I’m not the best dancer.”

(OOC: Akki-chan, Lenoth is a BROWN.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(R)~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Relina allowed herself to be pulled to the dance floor by Faine and she lightly chuckled when she spun her. Blinking slowly, Relina looked at her friend.
"You are such a strange girl, but, I guess in all respect, you are MY strange girl.” She teased.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(C)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Upon hearing Z’ayr call his own dragon a snob, Catilena burst out laughing and steadied herself on the flamboyant bluerider. She attempted to calm herself, with little success and looked at Z’ayr humorously.
“Oh, where have you been all my life? You MUST meet my sister, she is so cold and serious all the time. A little time with a thing like you oughta loosen her up.” She said in a non-implying tone. When he asked how long she had been here, Catilena smiled and tilted her head at him.
“Oh, not too long. I’ve been here since before Rhia’s first lesson, I don’t know about my little buddy here though.” She said, nudging D’lan slightly. Mosaic quietly chirped as he studied the bluerider closely. Before she could intervene, Mosaic had leaned too close to Z’ayr and fell over, falling into the brownrider’s chest and squealed uncontrollably, unable to get his wings out to fly and go between. Catilena was startled and tried to right the situation, having no idea how to do so.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(D)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lenoth sniffed approvingly at Z’ayr and looked at his rider.
Tell him “thank you” Mine and inform him I enjoyed meeting him as well. Lenoth told him. D’lan gulped and looked at Z’ayr.
“Lenoth says thanks and he likes you as well. Uh, I haven’t been here too long. I barely made it in time for the candidate lessons.” He said, jumping slightly at Catilena’s nudging. It was very comical, and you would think that he was a younger brother being disciplined by his older sister. Before he could say anything to her, the brown fire-lizard on her shoulder had fallen off and landed on Z’ayr. Before he could stop himself, he started laughing and leaned against his dragon.
The little one is clumsy Mine. It is amusing.
I agree, it is. Mosaic is such a strange and interesting creature, but he is not as wonderful and magnificent as my Lenoth. D’lan said, earning a small warble from his dragon.
"Okay, that works." Orena hopped to her feet and offered a hand to Jeri, intending to walk over there by her friend's side. "What are you gonna want? I think I want a roll ... with lots of butter. A little roll with my butter is always good." She giggled. "And maybe a bit of sausage to go with it...."
"Well, that's no good! We'll just have to lean on him a little, maybe hold him under water until he cries 'nuff." Orena giggled, plainly joking. She'd never do that to anything, much less something that could disembowel her with a single kick. "Or, maybe not. Maybe I like being the only one to have a special name for you. So when you hear it, you always know it's me!" Orena grinned at her.
"But ... I am kinda sad we're not still in the same class." She sighed, wistfully. "I'm gonna miss you, now that I won't get to see you all day every day anymore. I bet you'll even be running at a different time of day, too. Or do weyrlings run? I don't know!"
Jeri took the offered hand, then tucked it in the crook of her arm to escort Orena to the food. "I think I'm going to need a bit more than a roll," she said with a sudden grin, her stomach growling as if on cue. "I'll see what they have."
"Ha! I don't think he would stand for that," Jeri said with a laugh, instinctively reaching out to touch the sleeping mind of her dragon, now that she could. It comforted her to know he was there. "I think I would know it was you no matter what," she said in reply, wondering how she could not know when the exuberant Orena was calling her.
"I am, too," she said, more serious now. "I'm sure we'll have plenty of running and all sorts of other things to do. I might see you for a little while each day. And at mealtimes. And just around the weyr. Hey," she said, seeing the look on her friend's face. "You can come visit me and Tirzinth any time you want. Including after dinner tonight... I'm sure he wouldn't mind an admirer," she added hopefully, wanting to show Orena her beautiful blue.
Orena nodded. She was going to need more than a roll, too, but it was a start. One had to start somewhere after all. Getting reeled in by her arm to get her hand tucked under Jerodyn's arm was something she hadn't looked for though, and it shocked her a bit. That ... was a lot more possessive than just friends holding hands. She recovered fast, though, grinning again. Apparently Jerodyn was feeling quite important now - as she should!! Orena bounced once while walking. When they reached the table, she grabbed up a plate and handed it to her friend before reaching for another, herself. "Ohhh, so much food! And it all looks good! I feel starved now, but ... I bet by the time I'm done my stomach will hurt so bad from being so full that I won't want to eat for a week! Or, at least, not like the idea of food tonight." She giggled.
When Jerodyn took on the distant look of talking to her dragon, Orena recognized it for what it was - she'd seen so many riders do just that. However, it was such a strange thing to see her own Jerodyn doing... while the girl was distracted, Orena got up on her toes and stared into Jerodyn's un-seeing eyes. Just to see what would happen when Jerodyn returned to the here and now. It was all she could do to not grin at the same time.
"Sounds like fun! I'd love to go see your lovely Tirzinth!" Orena agreed. But she did know that doing chores and taking care of a dragon, and adjusting to the whole rigaramarole ... Jerodyn would not be wanting much in the way of company. She'd be wanting sleep. At least, this was what Orena had heard tales of from the last batch of weyrlings that had preceded her.
Ooc|| Gah, sorry!
Z’ayr snapped his fingers and winked at Catilena, “I’ve been wasting my life away waiting for you to come find me!”. The bluerider wasn’t so sure he’d be able to loosen this sister of hers up though – there were some people who were immune to his fab magic. “As long as she doesn’t hit me or anything, I’ll meet her.” He sniffed in a rather serious manner. He didn’t like being hit – he bruised easily.
Z’ayr beamed happily, “Well I’m glad you two came to Dark Moon. I love meeting new people!” He happy little grin quickly disappeared though when Catilena’s firelizard fell into his chest. Now, Z’ayr had a decent control on his fear of flits – if they kept far away enough from him. So far Mosaic was doing pretty well, he wasn’t invading Z’ayrs little safety bubble. Until now, that is. “Please get him off of me.” Z’ayr whispered, his voice thick with obvious fright.
That firelizard was going to claw his chest open and eat his heart.
And just when Z’ayr thought things couldn’t get much worse, they did. Aesa whipped out from Between, landing on her bonded’s head, screeching at Mosaic. What did that firelizard think he was doing, this was her boy! Z’ayr let out a soft whimper when the gold flitter clung to him. “Pleasepleasepleasemakeitstop. ”
Tanwen felt a whisper of her usual sarcastic fight-away bite slip through when D'car took her hand to lead her to the dance floor, but she pushed it down and followed the other weyrling's lead. It was partially her own common sense that had been telling her that this sort of friendly interaction with others at the Weyr was exactly what she needed to settle into her new home; the other part was her bubbly-pie of a dragon always dragging her over to meet anyone the green didn't recognize.
Tanwen hadn't actually danced with anyone for quite some time, but she'd learned the steps when she was younger just as well as any other girl had, and her defensive training had helped her hone any talent with the grace of dance. Just the physical contact was enough to send the usual uncomfortable feeling she had around boys (except for Z'ayr, of course) prickling along her spine, but she could tell just by the way he carefully placed his hands that it wasn't very likely she'd have to drop-kick D'car. She did notice the look he gave her during the dance, and she smiled out of the corner of her mouth. Of course, she hadn't really doubted that he could dance, it was more the provoking that she'd been after (she didn't provoke spitefully anymore, but the habit still came out). However, she thought she'd humor the silent question, and gave a small shrug. "Pretty good."
- - -
Naret blinked when the dragon projected the thought-speach into his mind. It was an odd feeling, having a voice in there that wasn't his own, but he figured out quickly enough that it was the little gold. He gave her another smile, let her rub along Ikarit's fur a bit more (the feeling did seem to be warming up to the gold rather well with the massaging), and then he stood just in time for Faine to mention dancing. He gave her a smile and let go of Ikarit's paws enough to give wave, but he shook his head and pointed to the plate of food he'd been getting together. Not to mention it would have been difficult to dance with a feline under one arm. At least eating would be easier, now that Ikarit was calmer. Naret gave one more smile and quick nod-bow to the little gold, then turned to finish getting his food.
- - -
V'ael shrugged at Faine's question. "Not sure meself," he admitted. "I haven't had any arguments with Aeydrith." Not long after that Faine dragged Relina off to the dance floor. V'ael laughed but shook his head and waved them off. "That's all right," he said. "I don't think I'm much fer dancin' jest now." The food was looking pretty good, and he hadn't eaten yet.
Just before he turned to get a plate he heard a chaotic bunch of squealing and turned to look towards the group with Catilena and Z'ayr. He'd been friends with the other boy for long enough by now to know about the other's fear, and he felt a jolt go through him when he saw the expression on the bluerider's face when the flit fell directly onto him. Without realizing he'd even started to walk, V'ael was reaching the group at a jog when Z'ayr's own flit popped in and promptly began screeching at the other.
"Ach!" he said, reaching for the flit he was more familiar with - Z'ayrs - since he figured he had less of a chance of being scratched up with her. "Yer always gettin yerself into some sort of trouble, are ye Z'ayr?" His tone was joking; V'ael was hoping to lighten the mood and make Z'ayr feel a bit easier. The greenrider grabbed Aesa off of Z'ayr's head with a firm but gentle grip, fully expecting to leave the situation with a bit of blood loss. Once he had Aesa at least mostly secured under one arm, he used his free hand to grab for the other on Z'ayr's chest - expecting, of course, a bit more blood loss from the flit that didn't know him at all. He didn't much care if it flew away from him after he'd gotten it away from Z'ayr, he just wanted it off the half-panicked bluerider that was his friend.
V'ael looked up to the other two standing there - Catilena and D'lan. "Either of ye belong te this one?" he asked, nodding to the unfamiliar flit.
Catilena's grin disappeared as Mosaic fell into poor Z'ayr and she watched the poor dear become frightened. When the gold appeared and started screeching at Mosaic, he began screeching back at her. Catilena's breath hitched when V'ael pulled him off of Z'ayr and she ran over to snatch him out of his grip and cradle the little brown awkwardly in her arms.
Mosaic, oh dear are you alright? She mentally asked the still wiley critter. Mosaic struggled in her arms while she held tightly to him and attempted to sooth him. When he was somewhat calmer, she turned to the riders.
"I am SOOO sorry Z'ayr, are you ok? I hope he didn't hurt you! Mosaic is usually a lot more careful than that." She said, looking perfectly distraught.
Oh, Mosaic, look what you did! I haven't known him for two minutes and you just HAD to go and ruin it. He'll never wanna come near me again now! She mentally yelled at her flit. Mosaic crooned, unsure of why his girl was angry with him, and struggled out of her arms, disappearing to who knows where by going between Catilena sighed and hoped that Z'ayr would not be mad at her for this recent occurance.
Watching the scene, Lenoth was still slightly amused while D'lan kept silent. He watched as the scene unfolded, with the golden flit's appearence, then the screech match, then V'ael's appearence, Catilena's help in separating the flits, with Mosaic disappearing. Looking to Catilena, D'lan clearly saw distress in her eyes and knew she was crushed at this event, unknowing of whether or not her new friend would forgive her. During the entire scenario, D'lan noticed Z'ayr's fear and after Mosaic had left, he decided to inquire about it.
"So, you are a rider, yet you fear fire-lizards? How did that happen?" He asked, curious. He turned to Lenoth, who tilted his head at everyone.
How does that work Lenoth? D'lan asked him.
I do not know, nor do I understand. Was the simple reply of the dragon. D'lan sighed and looked to Catilena again, then turned to Z'ayr.
"Sorry about that, but please don't hold it against her. Catilena had no control over that entire thing and as you can see, she feels horrible for it." D'lan said, defending his friend. He did not know Z'ayr real well, but Catilena tried so hard to make D'lan feel welcome, so he felt it was his duty to her to try and help her out, even if that meant interacting with a stranger.
The brownrider weyrling had honestly expected Tanwen to be impressed. Afterall, that's what he had done all this for, right? No wait, that wasn't right. It wasn't to impress her. Was it? No, it was to prove her wrong. Yes, that's what it was. That had to be it. D'car had to remind himself he did not like people. So he wouldn't want to impress anyone.
Still. Why was he disappointed when she wasn't? The shrug had said enough to D'car. She thought it was good, but not impressive. That's how he interpreted it. But why was he out to impress her? It was to prove her wrong. Yes, that's what it was. D'car was mentally reassuring himself.
D'car had taken a step back, but now he took a step forward. He then turned a quarter circle, took a right step, before taking a step back. He then spun them both in a complete circle, twirled Tanwen and held both her hands as they both went as far away from each other as their reach would allow. He then guided her back towards him and passed each other so that they were now on opposite ends. He then pulled her back again, but it was a tad too close for D'car's comfort level. Tanwen was now only inches from his face.
D'car stared at Tanwen just a moment too long than would be considered normal. He hadn't had a girl that close to his face and certainly not in this sort of setting. Snapping out of his thoughts before he thought something foolish, he took her into a dip and pulled her back up. If it were a conversation, that'd be a change of subject.
The music slowed slightly and D'car returned his hands to their original places. His right held Tanwen's hand while his left rested in the same place at the small of her back. The nonverbal question hadn't produced the results he wanted. Perhaps a verbal one would? "Impressed?", he asked simply. But why had that question come up? It wasn't about impressing her. It was about making her eat her words.
You slipped what you really intended. You need to say what you mean anyway. Only the weak hide behind words they don't mean. And that would be D'car's brown. A vicious little dragon and rather dominate for a brown. The hatching had proven that. D'car was convinced he would be aggressive even by bronze standards. Whether or not that was actually true was another matter. D'car decided to ignore his brown and also ignore whether or not he was right.
