Orena wrinkled her nose up and snickered. "I probably got it from my parents." She confessed, before blushing. "Momma always tried to make me into a lady. I daresay ... it didn't work very well. Which is why I ended up studying under Papa instead. I tended to upset Momma a lot. Soooo ... yeah." She grinned a bit, and leaned on her arms on the table. It was easier to pretend that she didn't care that she hadn't impressed, when Jerodyn was around. Maybe she could share in Jerodyn's baby dragon. Wouldn't be the same, but ... oh well. One thing she was afraid of, was that Jerodyn would become so engrossed in her new dragon and classes that there wouldn't be any time left... that would make Orena sad for sure, and she knew it. People also tended to change, after events like that ... and she could already see it starting in Jerodyn.
Her friend looked so self assured and confident... and unabridgedly happy. Like her whole soul had just lit up like the rising sun. Her day had come, and she was shining for it. Orena was thrilled to death for her, and sad at the same time. Everything was changing, and moving on without her.
"Tirzinth." Orena repeated, wistfully. "I like it." She remarked, with a grin.
R'anl couldn't help but grin when Akki started towing him around. Of course, he let her. Without protest. He couldn't help but think that he must have accidentally stared at the stars just right or something. Used to being more or less ignored, he'd somehow managed to score a dance with a pretty lass! Once they reached the spot that Akki seemed to deem adequate for such things, R'anl waited patiently as she spared a word of converse for one of the new weyrlings.
Dance... he knew. Sortof. Dance with no music? That was going to be a tad awkward. Especially given what she was doing so far was completely strange to him. However, this was not going to stop him. Dancing with a girl = prime excuse to be close to said girl! Hooking an arm around her middle, he hauled her in closer before twirling her around. No music ... might as well make it up as he went along, right? Releasing one hand from her, he twirled her around on her own, instead of making himself dizzy.

Anassa was thoroughly enjoying herself while keeping an eye out for the new Harper to see if he wanted to play for the Hatching Feast. Christae had already told her that she didn't have to ask for permission to play for dinner or for feasts. Most of the riders loved music, and Anassa loved to oblige.
She caught sight of Akki towing some rider she didn't know out onto the dance floor and grinned. Akki would certainly dance without music, but what were Harpers for if not for providing music? She also didn't want her friend to try to start singing. That would clear out the dance floor in a hurry!
Anassa usually kept her pipes with her in her belt pouch. She wished she had her lyre or guitar so she could sing but she preferred her pipes most of the time anyway.
She hoped that the Harper and his musical son would join in as she raised the pipes to her mouth and cleared some of the dust and lint from the pipes. She laughed, remembering her excitement and awe when she had Impressed her green beauty.
"Here you are Akki. Wouldn't want you scaring away the guests." She winked at the bluerider and raised her pipes to her lips. The Harper turned rider began a merry tune and made her way out to the dance floor, pipping merrily at Akki and her dance partner like some Pernese Pied Piper. She hoped that Akki and R'anl wouldn't be the only ones on the dance floor soon now that there was music.

G'han looked up from his glass of wine, noticing that Anassa was now playing a tune for Akki and the others to dance to. G'han had remembered that Anassa was one of the ones suggested to him that he should seduce. He did, however, decline. G'han had already made a mental note that she was V'ian's girl. G'han actually considered V'ian a friend, so he didn't feel like doing that to him.
As G'han watched her play, he did get a bit of an idea though. He didn't see V'ian around yet and the poor bronzerider did seem a bit hesitant to talk to her or anything. Maybe he would...warm her up for him. Who knew? Maybe V'ian would actually get a tad jealous and actually act out. Oddly, that was the best scenerio for G'han. Otherwise, his plan was to try to get a dance out of the greenrider until V'ian decided to show up. Then he would really make things awkward and make V'ian dance with her.
Okay, so maybe it wasn't the best idea G'han had. But it was spur of the moment and the young wingleader was bored enough that he'd go for the first idea that came to him. Well, crazy line dancing was first. But he wanted to save that for later, maybe when he was tipsy.
So G'han stood up and made his way towards Anassa, greeting her with a slight bow when he was close enough that he gained her attention. "I believe you start us off well. But care to let the other harpers take over so that you can spare a dance for a friend?", G'han questioned with a smile. It wasn't the usual goofy grin or comical smirk that he often wore. Though he was some distance away, he was still within talking distance and stretched out his hand. An obvious gesture meant to ask for her hand in a dance.

Kegin couldn't help but just sit there in the middle of those around him and just look around. He saw Akki take someone to dance and not for the first time he wished he knew how. Kegin chuckled as he watched the pair. He saw others pick up instruments and play for the pair and he couldn't help but smile. Akki always seems to make Kegin laugh with her odd antics. Kegin looked at his acquaintances and smiled at them. "So it seems we can dance at this party." He looked them over and kinda felt a bit small.
He kind of hoped no one would ask him to dance or expect him too. He had what people would say was two left feet. Kegin moved his plate away from him and sighed. He was not depressed about not impressing but it was the thought of making a fool of himself if anyone tried to make him dance. Knowing Akki sooner or later she might make him try. he wasn't really looking forward to it.

Kala't laughed. He was very happy and forgot about his nerves and the people around him made him feel...........comfortable other than uncomfortable. There was a change in Kala't and everyone could see it. He was more confident thanks to Kegin. He smiled at his friend. He patted his shoulder. "Hey, it'll be alright." He jumped up on the table, whipped out his pan flute and started to play a happy little ditty and danced too.
Kala't was an aspiring musician but hasn't been discovered yet. Sh'vian was just outside when she started to hum to Kala't's melody. Soon she started to sing. She was an aspired singer and not yet discovered. She had a beautiful voice. Kala't heard her and motioned her to come in and join in. Sh'vian smiled and did just that.
They worked well together. Sh'vian kept the beat of the music and Kala't played with the other musicians quiet well. They made a good team. The song was about happy times. It was a song in tribute to all the new Weyrling and for those who didn't Impress not to lose hope.

Blissy smiled as others came over by Kegin. He was making friends!! She was so happy for him! She couldn't help but give him another quick hug.
"Well, you gotta buck up, make the best of the circumstances and look forward to the future! After all, if your mister dour-pants no dragon will want to be bonded to you. Be happy you are here, and that next time, maybe yours will hatch and impress you." She gave a firm nod.
"Oh! Where are my manners? This little beauty is Jespeth, and we are fairing rather well, thank you for asking."
She smiled again, then waved at Kalaht... er... what was his new name now? K'laht? K'aht?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
R'khol was barely through the door before somebody recognized... well probably his shoulder knots. The boy was one of the new weyrlings, the last to impress if he remembered correctly.
The little blue did a cute trick, and then was sent on his way. R'khol thought it too bad, that the little blue was sent off. But if he was tired, then it was as it should be. However, if he was the new rider, he would have escorted his new dragon to his bed himself, then came back. It was part of the whole new bond and protectiveness thing.
"No need to apologize." He said, then watched the boy leave for food.
He didn't really want food just yet so continued on into the room, nodding to a few aquaintances he had met since his transfer and appointment to Weyrleader.
When music started and dancers came out onto the floor, he quickly made his way to the wall. R'khol really wasn't much of a dancer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Andilay was a little surprised when her shoulder was grasped, but then relaxed when she saw it was Akki. Then what she first said sunk in. "J-Junior Weyrwoman?"
When she took a moment to think about it, Akki was right, she was the new Junior Weyrwoman! Goody. A small, almost martyr-like smile graced her lips at this thought. But it was soon turned into a warm smile at Akki's next words.
The dear, she could be just as wonderfully considerate as she could be odd and hilarious. Andilay totally owed her five marks. After all, G'han, she had to admit, would have been an easy seduce for the bluerider.
With this new knowledge greatly improving her outlook on things, she loaded her plate with food before choosing a table to feed her face. She may be the new JW, but she would still be the same lewd swordswoman underneath... just with a bit of a handicap. After all, no crazy seducing or hopping of bones while little Veritath was still a weyrling. As a responsible person, Andilay would be, unfortunately celibate for the next... few turns? Faranth did that sound awful!

Faine smiled happily, “She’s a fan of meatrolls I’m guessing.” She seemed to remember seeing the green snatch a few from V’ael at the previous hatching. Faine blinked for a moment and then looked at ground, noticing that Colvarinth wasn’t at her side anymore. She looked around for a moment before spotting the gold near Naret. She relaxed slightly – she had been worried that she might have tried to stuff the gold into her pocket or something.
Faine ran a hand through her red hair, glanced at Z’ayr and then more word vomit. “I think Z’ayr likes you.” She blurted before covering her mouth quickly with her hands. Oops! She couldn’t keep her thoughts to herself it seemed.
Colvarinth watched Naret intently as he knelt down, the feline tucked safely in his arms. Soon as the boys knees were on the ground, Colvarinth’s head darted forward. She was curious about the furry creature in his arms. It looked so squirmy! She lowered her head slightly, cautiously sniffing the animal. What is it Admin's Note:
She sounded rather annoyed, she didn’t like not knowing everything. ------ Z’ayr eyed Catilena for a second before shrugging. “Do I have too?” He asked with a slight pout on his lips. He was quite comfortable holding the boy, as a matter of fact. However he did let his hands drop to his sides after a couple of seconds. He regretted nothing – it was hard to regret things when you got to cop a feel of a boy. A hand flew up to his hair, primping it for a second before letting it fall so he could hold it out to D’lan, “Making people nervous is my specialty, honey. I’m Z’ayr. I have a blue named Dinayth.” If Z’ayr had longer hair, he probably would have flipped it as he turned to Catilena. “You didn’t Impress did you, sugar? That’s too bad.” He more or less simpered. “You’ll show ‘em next time though.” He added helpfully. He grabbed a cup of klah from a passing drudge and took a sip of it. “Sorry for the intrusion. The person I was looking for was talking to someone and I didn’t feel like being the downer, not being social and all that.” ------ Like Akki had predicted, within seconds music had started up. No one was going to let the dancing officially begin if there wasn’t music, that would be blasphemy! Akki laughed loudly as R’anl spun her about. She wasn’t sure if she was getting dizzy from the spinning or from the wine…it was probably both. She twirled away from R’anl, her green dress flying up slightly. That was why she loved this dress so much – it had extra fabric in the skirt that would fly up when dancing. It wouldn’t fly up to high but just enough for it to be considered ‘fun and flirty’. She turned her head slightly and winked to Anassa, “I would scare the guests away anyways!” Which was true enough. Akki looked down at her feet and grinned; socks were so much easier to dance in than shoes. She spun her body in close to R’anl, wrapping one arm around his neck. Her cheeks were slightly flushed, her eyes twinkling and her hair was a bit wild-looking now. “I bet you regret letting me crash into your weyr!” She laughed loudly, “Now you can’t get rid of me.” Akki looked to her side and frowned slightly, noticing that G’han was about to dance with Anassa. That moron! She had finally let Andilay know that she could have him and he was messing it all up! ------ V’ian was always running late. He didn’t mean for it to happen, really. However Waeith somehow managed getting into a fight with some young canine and the canine was winning. V’ian had found the bronze practically backed against a wall, the canine barking. Finally Waeith got tired of the feisty animal and simply trumpeted at it – sending the pup running. The entire scene had caused V’ian to laugh so hard, that he ended up crying. So he had to wait until the tear tracks on his face were gone before showing up at the feast. He entered the dining hall and made a note that showing up late wasn’t necessarily a bad thing – the dancing had already begun and some people seemed to be drunk. He looked at the dance floor and rolled his eyes when he saw Akki with some guy – she seemed to be with someone different every time he saw her. Then his eyes drifted to Anassa, one eyebrow raising slightly. G’han was dancing with her…did the bronzerider like her? Oh dear. Hopefully G’han wouldn’t hold any hard feelings against him then, for winning the greenrider’s flight. Shoving a meatroll into his mouth, he glanced around. Maybe he should find someone to dance with too?

At mention of Orena's mother trying to make her into a lady, Jeri burst out laughing. The thought of Orena serving tea and politely addressing a Lord and Lady Holder was hysterical. Her mirth was so great that it woke her sleepy blue.
J'dyn, what is going on? Your thoughts were so loud.
"Oh, shards, I'm sorry, Tirzinth," she said aloud. Go back to sleep, I'll be quiet.
"I woke him," she explained. As she felt her dragon drift back to sleep, realization dawned, and she groaned. "Oh, Orena.. he called me J'dyn. My boy's name is even more like a boy's now." She tilted her head back and rolled her eyes in quiet frustration, being careful this time to shield it from her sleeping dragon.

The roll went away altogether too quickly. But boy howdy did it taste good, every bit of it. H'nam eyed the cookie that remained on the plate, and sighed. Too bad it wasn't a roll, too. Or better, a meat roll. The meat that was often in them was usually stewed first, and as a result it was nice and tender, not needing any handling to be edible. For someone with two useless hands, that was a big deal. Leaning down, he used his nose to slide the cookie toward the edge of the plate where he might be able to get his teeth on it. Without mashing said nose into the plate, anyway.
Faranth, he was going to be so happy when he got the use of his arms back! And never again would he take his limbs for granted. People really did not appreciate their hands enough, H'nam decided. Goodness knows he never had. But then - he'd never been left without a hand at all to his own, before, either.
Managing to get a hold on the cookie, he bit a chunk off, allowing the rest to land back on the plate. Straightening, he looked around as he chewed thoughtfully. While he was perpetually hungry, eating in a hurry was sort of pointless ... it was so much work to get food, he might as well enjoy it while he could. He hated having to ask for help, but apparently it didn't hurt his pride a bit to be seen eating off the plate like a canine. It was better than being hand-fed by someone else.
Orena laughed along with Jerodyn, grinning broadly before patting the table top a bit. "Are you hungry? I can get us something to nibble on." She offered, before falling silent at the revelation of her friend's name.
"Well ... what do you want to be called?" She asked. "I can call you that, if you want, or I can keep calling you Jeri?" Orena didn't know what to do, really. Hadn't she heard that some riders changed their name entirely shortly after impression? If that was the case, the dragon should be able to learn a new name. "Maybe you can teach him what to call you?" She asked.
R'anl's grin never faded, not once, not a bit. "Are you implying that I could have stopped you?" R'anl countered, cheerfully. "And, no, actually. No regrets here." He caught her as she twirled back to him, releasing her hand to take a hold of her by her waist. She looked a touch dizzy, so he took it easy on the twirling, instead taking her for a slower sashay across the floor. Frilly skirt or no frilly skirt ... R'anl really couldn't care less about the skirt. He was delighted to get the dance with Akki. Dancing with a dress was a tad boring, after all ... not to mention it would earn a lot of really strange looks and possible get one locked away for life. So, yeah ... the girl in the dress was far more interesting than the dress itself. Even if said dress made said girl look absolutely stunning. If a tad rumpled and flushed.
"Did I ever say I wanted to get rid of you? I don't think I did. If I did, I must have been out of my mind." R'anl decided. Even if that kind of statement was liable to get him hurt. If not by said girl, than by said girl's partner. And of course he assumed she had one... who wouldn't? Pretty and witty, he was more than positive someone like Akki could have her pick of partners.

Akki bit her lip slightly and looked upwards, as if contemplating whether or not R’anl could have prevented her from barging into his life the way she did. It was a rather silly thing to think about since the answer was quite obvious. She let her eyes fall back to R’anls face as she grinned crookedly, “Absolutely not. I probably would have just clawed my way in if you tried to stop me.” It seemed like something she would do. She glanced down at her feet and made sure that they were mimicking her dance partner’s, not wanting to lose the rhythm that he had going on.
This was one of the main reasons Akki refused to miss a party of some sort. She liked to dance – there were days where all she wanted to do was spin around, but that was generally frowned upon…especially if you were in the kitchens. With her free hand, she grabbed some of the fabric and lifted it slightly; ensuring that she wouldn’t step on it and slip. “I’m sure you’ll regret it soon enough.” She laughed.
R’anls comment was definitely a risky one. It left the option of being simply shot down by a girl. What if the girl pushed him away slightly and said that he ‘just wasn’t her type’ Admin's Note:
Of course, Akki wasn’t your normal girl. She grinned crookedly at him and winked, “I believe you said you wanted to trap me in a cage actually, so kinky.” You’re so quickEbbeth’s voice, dripping in sarcasm, popped in Akki’s head. It startled her for a moment, she had thought the blue had been sleeping peacefully. I don’t get it She sent back, not sure what exactly he was talking about. There was no reply, which was fine – Akki hadn’t been expecting one.

V'ael laughed a bit and nodded. "Aye, I think she's just short of bein' obsessed with 'em." He followed her gaze after that, when she looked around for her gold, and blinked when he caught sight of the gold, the feline, and Naret holding onto it. "The little one doesn't seem too eager te be meetin' with..."
He trailed off, because Faine had blurted out her word vomit at that moment. V'ael looked back to his friend and blinked once. "Did you just say..." He blinked again, a strange expression of mostly confusion spreading across his face. V'ael tilted his head, scratching the back of it as he did so. "That'd be a new one. I think I was stuck in me Da's Vintyr hall a bit too much fer...well, actually, much of anyone te see me like that." Of course, when he went into town to get supplies or food there'd been the friendly flirt here and there, but nobody V'ael would think had fully 'liked' him. Of course, if Faine was right, then that would show how observant he was of those things, considering how often he tended to hang around with Z'ayr.
- - -
When the gold's head darted forward, Naret tightened his grip just a bit on the feline and his paws - not enough to hurt, but enough for the start and fluff-up-of-fur combined with an attempt to escape that Ikarit had in the same moment. The boy had a moment of wishing he could speak; he would have liked to let the dragon know that the feline was nervous, and it'd be great if she could be a bit gentle on him.
Naret dipped his head forward to rub his cheek against the back of Ikarit's head. The feline had gone silent by now, but he was still staring at the dragonet as if it was about to eat him. He felt a little badly for putting the feline in such a situation, but he didn't want to have to be a referee like this if he ended up impressing next time. So in an attempt to comfort the feline once more, he rubbed his cheek again against Ikarit's head. Then he offered a smile to the little dragon; maybe the face-petting would give her the idea of being gentle with the little creature?
[Hm. Lots of guys lookin for a dance partner. Anyone think I should throw in Tanwen? Maybe she's gotten her socializing down pat enough to not punch someone in the face for asking xD 'Course last time...she had a sort of reason for the punhiing, but yes.]

When Faine had called out, Relina sighed and shook her head at the girl, tilting her head up at her.
"What a strange girl you are. How on Pern did a silly girl like you impress a queen?" She asked exasperately. Faine had the oddest tendancies and habits and at times like this, Relina wondered why she was friends with such a girl. Then she would remember the girl's friendliness to her from the day they met and her persistance in tearing down the wall surrounding her heart. With these thoughts in mind, she smirked at the girl and sighed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(C)~~~~~~~~~~
Catilena laughed at Z'ayr's attitude and flamboyancy and grinned at him.
"Yeah, it would be a good idea. Lenoth's giving you a death glare there and I'd hate to have a fun person like you end up in a dragon's teeth." She said, looking at the confused dragon. When Z'ayr let go and introduced himself and his dragon, Catilena bobbed her head at him and grinned.
"Name's Catilena, and yeah, my dragon wasn't in this clutch this time around. There is always next time though! And who knows, maybe I'll impress a gold at the next hatching!" She joked when he mentioned her not impressing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(D)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When Z'ayr let him go, D'lan gave a sigh of relief, walking over to his dragon and patting his neck.
Easy love. he comforted, ignoring the conversation between the bluerider and Catilena.
Mine was uncomfortable, why? Are you alright? Lenoth said, calming down.
It is alright, I am not used to such contact, so it was my own fault, relax. D'lan urged. Lenoth started calming down and D'lan turned his attention back to Z'ayr.
"Um, hello. Uh..." He muttered, at a loss for words.

D'car had wanted to avoid social events like these. He couldn't stand them, really. But his curiousity got the better of him so he had went to the hatching. He tried to sit as far away from as many people as possible, but it just didn't work out that way. Once it was all said and done, people had started to leave to head towards the feast.
D'car had decided he would not go, not under any circumstance. Yet he was approached by one of the people that had been watching the hatching. "That was certainly an amazing hatching to watch. You impressed in one of the last hatchings, right? You should come sit with us at the feast", a woman had said to D'car. The weyrling brownrider felt cornered. "No, I'm good. I'll just be going now", he stated to her in response.
But the woman just wouldn't have it. "Oh come now, young rider, you must be hungry", she said to him as she grabbed him gently by the arm. D'car had went to open his mouth in protest, but it was his stomach that made the noise, a grumbling noise of hunger. The woman smiled knowingly and rushed him off with her to the feast.
D'car was finally able to seperate himself from her and the rest of her family when the entered the feast. He slipped away to fix himself some food and drink. He ducked into the thick of the crowd, losing this mad woman in the process. D'car headed towards the nearest table and sat nearest the wall. He took a bite to eat, and when he went to wash it down with his drink, he looked around with a scowl on his face. Hopefully he had lost this woman, and luckily he was right. He had lost her. A smirk crossed his features, satisfied with his success.
But no sooner had he put his glass down, he looked over to notice Tanwen sitting right next to him. He hadn't even noticed she was there. He was so concerned with getting away from one person that he stumbled upon another. He remembered Tanwen well, the girl from the lake. He didn't remember much of their conversation though. Still, she was better than that irritating woman. He gritted his teeth and waved at her before giving a simple "Hello". Might as well greet her, he was the one who unwittingly sat by her after all.
It was clear on D'car's face that something had annoyed him, and Tanwen had probably noticed he seemed to want to avoid someone so much so that he sat right next to her. And D'car was not someone to sit close to anyone by any means.

Tanwen had made her way to the hatching just as well as anyone; they always proved interesting, and there'd been a few of the candidates that she'd remembered from when she was a candidate herself. Afterwards she didn't see any point in not going to the feast, considering it was a great deal of good food and it was all the kitchen would be making for dinner that night anyway. So she'd gotten herself a plate of food, and made her way to a table off to the edge of the room where she planned on eating in general silence, and talking with her ever-questioning dragon.
If there were less people there, then could I have perhaps come to the feast? It was so interesting when I went to ours, Mine! Has anyone talked to you yet? Is the food good? Oh! Could you bring me something tasty, Tanwen? Mine? I knoow you said the sweet things weren't good for me, but there are things you can take back, can't you? Just a treat, Mine?
Tanwen had been eating and receiving the conversation with her eyes closed. She sighed and smiled a bit when her dragon gave a moment's pause in her torren of mental chatter large enough for a reply. I'll bring you something meaty, okay? She heard a chair move next to her, and opened her eyes to look up. Tanwen blinked once at D'car, but didn't say anything to him just yet, partly because he seemed preoccupied and hadn't noticed her yet, and partly because her dragon was still chattering in her head.
Oh! One of those flaky-meat things, Mine? You called it a meatroll, I think. Do you think they make some that have extra meat inside? I would very much like that. The flaky part is good, but the meat is much better.
Vessayith, Tanwen interrupted the stream of chatter. I love you dearly, but I think I'm gonna have to talk to someone hear in a minute. Do you think you could give me enough room in my head to do that? You were tired when I left anyway.
Oh, I was! I had forgotten. I'll think I'll nap now.
And with that, the chatter from her green stopped just in time for D'car to look over and give a surprised look and a mildly annoyed wave. Tanwen gave a wry grin. She had a feeling he hadn't intended to sit down with someone, considering the 'have to get away' attitude he'd had when he sat down. She'd go along with it though; after all, she'd been doing pretty well in the socializing category lately.
"Hey," she said, taking another sip of juice after. "You look like you're having fun." Sarcasm? What Sarcasm?

When others took up the song, albeit not the Harpers she had hoped for, Anassa was almost glad of the invitation to dance. She had been taught the dances but hadn't really had much of a chance to participate in them because she was usually playing or singing.
"Since no one else has stepped up, I would be glad to Bronzerider G'han." She remembered the day she had helped him with his little ones while he unpacked. She laid her hand in his, glad that she had changed her riding breeches for a light skirt. It was cooler and more feminine than her wher-hide riding breeches.

G'han took Anassa's hand carefully and led her to part of the floor where they'd have more room to dance. Preferably, some distance away from Akki. She had a tendancy of not being graceful, at all. G'han's feet suffered from such torment, whether he was dancing with her or not.
"Then I should consider myself the lucky one to be first in line", G'han couldn't help the charm. He wasn't going after Anassa like that, but in some weird way it was part of G'han's courtesy. G'han complimented most females, especially when it came to such things as dance. Though Akki was one of few exceptions. He knew the bluerider didn't take to compliments unless there was some joke or innuendo behind them.
G'han eased his other hand to Anassa's waist, careful where he put it. With his other hand preoccupied with holding one of hers, he began their dance. G'han certainly wasn't the best dancer, but not the worst either. It wasn't a skill he had honed. But unlike Akki, he could have grace and balance. His own training had provided that much. Compliment it with some experience on the dance floor, and you had a decent dancer in the form of G'han.
He spun them both around in a half circle, and took a step back. He looked up to see V'ian some distance away. Aha! So the bronzerider would show up afterall. G'han noticed that the other bronzerider had noticed them dancing. He was able to scan has facial expressions from the distance, but nothing gave away him being jealous. Somewhere inside G'han, he was a bit disappointed. It'd have made it a little more interesting. Ah well, he'd go with the original plan.
He'd finish this dance with Anassa, and get V'ian to take his place in the next. Trick was to find him at the end of this dance, G'han would have to keep an eye out for him while making sure he gave enough attention to Anassa and the dance. He may not have wanted to be anything more than friends, but a friend deserved to have some attention paid to them while they danced.
G'han took another step forward, and then to the right. Good, he could still see the other bronzerider clear enough. He was busy eating and looking around. Maybe he wouldn't occupy himself enough to get out of G'han's range of vision long enough for G'han to lose track of him. He glanced back at Anassa from looking just over her shoulder. "Any others in this line I should be aware of?", the bronzerider asked with a grin. The tone was meant for simple conversation with slight jest behind it. G'han would try to lighten the mood, but at the same time maybe he could get a little detail for his fellow bronzerider. After all, the two of them had formed a bronzerider club, right? They were like two dragons from the same egg now. They were best buds. G'han had to look out for him.

D'car knew sarcasm well. It was a necessary tool that often drove people off or stopped conversation altogether. This instance, however, was no such time. "Oh yes. Loads of it. I just love being dragged around to a feast by some woman I don't even know", D'car said with the same sarcastic flair.
He looked over at the crowd, people were starting to dance now. "Look at this nonsense. Dancing. It's nothing but trouble", D'car stated in a grumpy tone. Thankfully he had managed to avoid dancing with any gal. Of course, he knew how to dance. His sister had made sure he knew that lesson well. When they were still together as a family, she was always looking out for him. She joked that he would need to learn how to dance proper if he were ever to settle down with a lady. Life back then was simpler, and not quite the life of a weyr, or dragonrider.

"I'll bet," she replied, drinking at her juice once more. "Only reason I came was so I wouldn't miss dinner." There were a few moments then when D'car was looking over the crowd quietly, and Tanwen was content to do the same. When he spoke up again she looked over, nodding in agreement once again and rolling her eyes dramatically.
"Tell me about it," she said. "The last time I ended up dancing with a guy I ended up having to drop-kick him to the floor." She thought for a moment, then shrugged. "Although, I guess, at least he could dance."

"You could say that's my reason as well", D'car agreed. After all, if his stomach hadn't betrayed him, he wouldn't have come in the first place. Blasted woman had to hear it to and drag him to the feast. "If I hadn't been hungry, I wouldn't have been driven here", D'car admitted with a tone of annoyance.
He looked over the crowd again as Tanwen spoke. Something told him he was glad he didn't like dancing, because if he had danced with Tanwen part of him wondered if he would have been drop kicked as well. Though he reassured himself that whoever it was, they deserved it. D'car probably deserved such, but for other reasons.
He then looked back over at Tanwen pointedly. "What are you trying to imply?", D'car spat back with a question. Did she dare question his abilities? She couldn't know one way or the other how he danced. If it was one thing D'car didn't like, it was people assuming things about him; things such as him wanting to talk or be in a conversation. And if there was one thing D'car did, it was step up to a challenge.

Faine tilted her head to the side slightly when V’ael mentioned something about the ‘little one’. She let her gaze fall away from the boy and saw Colvarinth, trying to make friends with a feline who didn’t seem to be wanting to be friends. “Colvarinth, leave the feline alone.” The redhead chided, frowning at the gold who seemed to be ignoring her.
She looked at V’ael with an ‘Uhhhhh’ slipping out of her mouth. “Forget what I said. I probably misunderstood.” She tried to, feebly, correct herself. This was worse than going back to the barracks and finding plates hidden underneath her cot. She idly twisted a short strand of red hair around her finger, trying to think of something else to say. Nothing was really coming to mind though. “You guys are friends right? So of course he would like you.” She said with a small smile, trying to pass the whole thing off as a ‘He likes you because you’re a friend’.
She glanced at Relina, silently begging the girl to help out. Faine was just making things so much worse. “I just stood there. It was Colvarinth who came up to me!” She protested. She did have to agree though – exactly how did a silly girl like her become a goldrider?
Colvarinth watched as Naret stroked the feline, her eyes churning with curiousity. Is that what that thing was for? For petting? How odd. She slowly stuck out her head once more, the tip of her snout nuzzling Ikarit’s side very slowly. Oh! So soft! She wasn’t expecting the feline to be like that. She wanted one now!
--------
“I think a dragon would spit me out.” He shrugged, adding “I would be too sweet for them.” The last part was said with a rather exaggerated wink added to it. Z’ayr paused and then bent down to examine the brown. “What’s your name, handsome?” He asked, looking up at D’lan. It was nice getting to meet other dragons – they never cared what he was wearing, unlike Dinayth. Ugh, that blue had the worse fashionista attitude. He stood up and winced slightly when his knees made a cracking noise before grinning at Catilena. “That’s the attitude! You can just borrow my blue in the mean time, yeah?”
Z’ayr turned his attention back to D’lan, his lips in a sympathetic smile before he slowly patted the boy’s shoulder. “Oh honey, we’re way past hello’s. How about your name instead?”
--------
V’ian plucked another meatroll off of a tray and once again inhaled it. He paused for a second, coughing slightly when he began to choke. Maybe that was why people should chew through food? He finally stopped choking and took a little walk around the feast. It seemed like everyone was dancing though – his sister with that man (Who actually was looking rather familiar.), G’han with Anassa. Truth be told, V’ian felt a wee bit left out!
I’d dance with you. Waeith said before pausing and adding, But only because you’re so handsome. Now that jerk of a bronze was just teasing him.
You’re too wimpy to dance. Go get scared by a canine. He shot back, stepping beside Andilay. “Would you dance with me, Junior Weyrwoman? Everyone else is dancing but I’m not!” He asked, staring at the girl with a slightly begging face. “Plus your friend isn’t here so I can’t even do some good wooing.” He sniffed, sounding quite sorrowful about it. He looked down and smiled at the Silver, “She’s gorgeous. What’s her name?”

Tanwen finished off the last of a piece of bread on her plate and downed the rest of her juice in the moment of quiet after she'd made her last comment. She rose an eyebrow and looked over to D'car over her cup when he spoke again, smiling out of the corner of her mouth when she put down the empty cup.
"Only that I was surprised that the dimglow I was talking about had enough intelligence in his head to even place one foot in front of the other," she said very matter-of-factly. Then she shrugged, and nudged her cup and plate a bit away from her so she could rest her elbows on the table. "Although," she shrugged again, her voice a bit lower than usual conversation volume "People don't usually protest unless something hits a nerve."

V'ael, go-with-the-flow guy that he was, nodded at Faine's other explanation. "Oh, aye, that makes sense," he agreed. Actually, now that she'd put it in such terms, it seemed kind of silly for him to have thought she'd meant any other sort of like. Friendly as Z'ayr was, the two of them were clearly only friends. It wasn't as though V'ael had ever had a real relationship anyway, so why would he jump to the conclusion that the first person to have any interest in him at all like that would be one of his good friends?
He looked over to Relina when she spoke up, then smiled at Faine at her response to the other girl. "That's how it's done though, ye know. Everyone I've spoken to says the same. They say a dragon chooses ye because they see somethin in ye that nobody else can - not even yerself." He smiled and shrugged. "Who's te argue with a dragon, hm?"

Naret glanced up briefly at Faine when she called chidingly to her gold; he gave her a smile, hoping to let her know that her newly bonded was fine where she was. It was actually quite convenient. Naret had been hoping to try and get his feline used to dragon gradually, but having one come right up to them was proving to be helpful. Already Ikarit seemed to have calmed down a bit, the only sign of nervousness in his features now were the widened pupils, the sternly set ears, and the occasional thrash of his tail.
Then the little gold stepped forward to rub her muzzle along Ikarit's side in sort of the same way Naret had been rubbing his cheek against the feline's head. He felt Ikarit tense when the dragon came closer, and made sure to hold tight to his paws so he couldn't scratch the hatchling. However, as soon as the dragon's muzzle rubbed against the feline's side Naret could feel Ikarit's muscles relax a bit. If there was one thing that Ikarit enjoyed, it was being pet. Treats were nice, but the feline was a sucker for massages, and the dragon was unwittingly catering right to that enjoyment.
Naret smiled broadly at the interaction, rubbing his own nose against the back of Ikarit's head encouragingly, and then giving a smile and a nod to the dragonet once more. He hadn't even thought of combining Ikarit's joy for being pet with his fear of dragons; the little gold's idea was genius! Of course he couldn't be sure if that had entirely been the gold's intention, but judging by the change in Ikarit's expression from nervousness to inquisitive, it was working wonderfully.
