Flame ate and smiled. She took a meatroll and bit into to it and then some wherry.
"My favorite is herdbeast stew." she said, without thinking. It was clear and clean. "but this is good. What's for desert, Uncle?"

Veran smiled. "Well for desert you get to live. Unless you would rather be gutted and served medium rare?" Veran smiled and kissed her head. "I am kidding. We have sweets for desert." Veran stood and went to get the sweets he made and gave her some. Then gave some to Kaine. He was about to dig in when a look from Rogin and Veran made him stop. He knew what would happen if he ate the sweets. He wanted to eat the bubbly pie but took his hand back.

She looked at Kaine and Veran. She approached Kaine.
"Is Kaine hunnngry? Thhiirrrsy?" she asked slowly as she was hestitant to touch her friend for fear of hurt him again. She missed the 't' in thristy.

Kaine looked at her. "No." He shook his head and then looked at Veran and Rogin. He moved away from the table and went into the next room where he began to do kid push-ups and crunches. He worked hard, like always. Rogin and Veran began to clean up the table.

When Kaine didn't eat his pie, she did the same. She shivered at the thought of displeasing the Family.

Kaine grew tired after a short workout. He went to Rogin and Rogin put him on his lap. He chuckled at Kaine and looked at him. "Alright. What story do you wish to hear about tonight?" he asked. Kaine thought a moment and smiled. "The sneaky Thief." he said. Rogin smiled and began to tell him the story of a sneaky thief that was able to find his way into any locked place. A master of the art. It was a very exciting story.

Flame sat back and listened. A full belly and a pie that she didn't eat. She smiled as she yawned. How was she getting tired? She had just woken up not four hours ago. She didn't understand. Maybe she was bored. She got off the chair, she grabbed a parchment and and ink pen and started to write her letters. Soon, those letters turned into words and she said each one over and over until she had them commited to memory. She even tested herself. Sentences were more difficult. She could say them but not write them and they were simple ones. She put the pen down and took several deep breaths and started again.

Rogin finished Kaine's story the boy got off and went to his room to sleep. Rogin chuckled and went to Flame. He watched her and nodded. "Very good. Keep practicing with yourself."

"Time for bed, father?" she asked. She saw Kaine go in his room. Flame yawned. She has an eventful day. She didn't even touch her pie yet.
"Tomorrow maybe?" she pointed to the pie. She smiled at licked Rogin's nose and giggled. She licked her dry lips and thought for a few moments. "For breakfast?"

Rogin chuckled and looked at her. "Yes for breakfast. If that is still her though. I might want it. Or Veran might be mean and eat it." Rogin chuckled and Veran eyed the pie. He licked his lips and looked at her. Both gave her a hug and told her good night.

Flame took the pie off the table and gave it to Veran.
"Here, Uncle. Veran and Rogin share it? I still want it....but you want it more." she smiled,sweetly. "What's on the ag-agenda for tom-tomorrow, Rogin?" Two new words and hardly no stumbling at all. "More mind things?"

Rogin smiled and nodded. "Yes. I need you to be very smart. You will be the one that is needed most. Your partner will do the harder work. You do the smarter work." Rogin and Veran smiled and each took a small piece of the pie. Then they put it away to save the rest for Flame. Both stood at the door and smiled at her. "Good night Flame. Sleep."
