“Yeah, I just attact the dragons.” Faine laughed, her eyes dancing and darting around so she could try to keep track of everything. It was actually rather difficult; trying to see which dragon went where. It wasn’t like she could look at two different things at once! The redhead smiled at Daelan, taking a note that he seemed rather nervous about the whole hatching ordeal. “It only hurts if they get your face.” She beamed, thankful that her face had so far stayed away from the claws of dragons.
It seemed that irony was ever because moments later, Daelan was on the ground too. Faine gasped slightly, her hands covering her mouth as she watched the boy take a tumble. She would have asked if he was okay, but it seemed he was. How could you not be okay when you had found a dragon – your dragon? She waved as the boy took his brown off of the sands, trying to remember to congratulate him once the hatching was over. She laughed at Catilena’s comment and shook her head, “No thanks! I’m already scratched but you’re not, so why don’t you go closer?” She was glad that she had Catilena to talk too; hatchings weren’t as fun if you didn’t have someone to share it with!
“Oh, look Catilena! The blue Impressed!”

Naret continued to watch as each dragonet was led off the stands by a candidate. He was still left there with the few others who hadn't been chosen, but the mute wasn't feeling very discouraged. They'd even said, both when he'd been searched and during training, that if he did not impress during this hatching he was welcome to stay at the Weyr and wait until the next hatching came around. As if he was going to choose to return to a Runner's life while there was still a chance to be chosen.
Considering the candidates were starting to thin out, Naret walked up more from where he'd been standing somewhere towards the middle. He ended up standing somewhere between Kalaht, and Catalina and Faine. He gave a smile to each of them in turn, then turned his attention back to the few hatchlings left.

The seal colored brown would have a personality similar to his color, sultry and smoky. He would be a very smooth talker, but never as arrogant as his bronze brothers. He would be charming but not outrageously flirtatious. He is rather friendly, but reserved with his affection until he knows that the one he wishes to lavish affection on is worthy of his attention. He will be calm when his rider is tempestuous. Only great indignities and or betrayals would make him lose his temper. He would be a strong, steady dragon. In the greatest of needs, he could lead as well as follow.
He would be a medium sized brown. His frame would be slightly thicker than lean. He tried to get the offending egg necklace off of his neck but to no avail. He hurried towards the girls, his eyes whirling with annoyance and hunger.
Yorisa, please help me get this OFF ME! His voice was really indignant. My name is Erosth. I am hungry.

D'lanmine, food is here? Lenoth asked as they came up to the buckets of food. D'lan sat down by one and looked at some of the meat, taking small bits out for his dragon.
Yes Lenoth, here, are you hungry? D'lan asked, standing up and extending his hand, lifting a peice up to his dragon's head. Lenoth reached gently for the peice of meat, not wanting to hurt his bonded. He took the peice and started eating. D'lan smiled and reached for another peice as he willed his dragon to chew. Lenoth continued eating as directed, enjoying the peices thoroughly. D'lan smiled and pat Lenoth's neck softly with one hand while using the other to feed him.
You and I will be together forever, won't we Lenoth? D'lan asked him happily. Lenoth's response came, albeit a little slow, but it came nontheless.
Yes we will, D'lanmine. More food? He said, making D'lan chuckle.

Catilena laughed at Faine's response and clapped her lightly on the shoulder.
"Haha! Why not? I've already got a drunken drudge scar, why not replace it with a baby dragon wound instead?" She said, pulling the girl closer to her. When Faine pointed out the blue's impression, Catilena smiled.
"Such a wondeful thing, impression is. I don't care if I never impress a dragon, though I would very much like to, for they are such wondeful creatures, I will always love and appreciate hatchings. I love watching the beautiful colors the dragons eyes take when they find their rider, the few-second transformation of a fearful or cocky candidate into a happy, understanding weyrling. Of all the hatchings I've ever been to though, I think I like this one the best. Everyone here is so relaxed, and not uptight like some of the weyrfolk I've met. And best of all, my sister is with me and I am making new and wonderful friends." She looked at Faine and smiled.
"Thanks for being here with me, this is even more worthwhile to watch if you've got someone who is as passionate about hatchings as you yourself are." She said happily. She turned to Naret and nodded at him as he joined them and smiled toward them, and she turned her attention back to the remaining hatchlings.
That being said, I really hope my own dragon is here, somewhere. She said to Mosaic, who appeared between Faine and Catilena. She smiled and lifted her arm, allowing the flit to land.
"Haha, hey Faine, have you met my little friend here? This is Mosaic." She said, stroking the brown.

The largest egg was shaking and small cracks were appearing on its surface, as were all the other eggs that remained. It seemed as if they were racing to be the first to hatch, all but that giant, gold and silver marked egg. The one that won the race was the first to have been laid. Its small size and the guesses that had been made about it were right, for a blue emerged from its dark depths. Like his egg, his hide was a dark blue. However, there was more of a steel tint to his dark blue hide than the bright sapphire blue of his egg. He would be on the smaller side of the medium scale, agile and swift, but without much stamina like all his blue brothers. There were only slight variations to his hide that made him distinct. The variations looked nearly uniform until you were up close. His neck ridge and the boning on the edge of his wing sails were slightly darker than his hide and his sails were just a bit lighter than the rest of his hide. The membrane of his sails was midnight blue, but the rest of his hide was made up of shades of navy. S'nic, my sincerest apologies for making you wait. I am Orsith and I hunger. Is there food that I may have?Orsith would always be a polite, gentlemanly dragon. He wouldn't be flirtatious or easy to anger. He would prefer to have one or two mates though he will chase after the greens when they rise in the hopes that one will take him as her preferred mate. He would be level-headed and somewhat perceptive, especially when his rider is concerned. He would always be sweet to the females he chased and very respectful towards the higher ups in the weyr. He would have a dry humor and a penchant for begging for sweets that he shouldn't have. Ooc|| Color code is 2a4651~

Sinic stood on the sands and almost lost hope. It wasn't till he heard the odd name and voice in his head that he realized what happened. One egg had hatched into a rather stunning dragon. He waited to see who the dragon would chose. When the voice spoke to him Sinic smiled. He moved forward to Orsith, "Greetings as well Orsith. Worry not for the wait. It was well worth it. A pleasure to finally have you." S'nic smiled and went to his new mate.
He led the dragon with promises of food. The whole time S'nic couldn't help but praise his handsome dragon. He loved Orsith as S'nic never knew he could love. He felt whole. "My dear friend please eat as you please but I will stop you if it begins to be too much." he said. Orsith's eyes whirled with excitement. he liked the freedom but restriction that His gave him.

How many of these eggs were left? He didn't know, and realizing that he did not, he suddenly wanted to. Both browns had Impressed, and one to a female. Just as Mneith had Impressed to Rhia. It was not surprising, though. Wher-girl was made of some pretty tough stuff, and he could not have seen her on a green. Perhaps a blue, but certainly not a green. She had never seemed that sort to him, and seeing her Impress brown only served as a confirmation of these thoughts. His eyes drifted over to the remaining few eggs. There were not many, though he could not count how many from where he stood. The fact was that they were not many. That not everyone here, today, would be Impressing. Unlike some, that did not phase him. Somehow he felt he needed more time. There were two girls talking, and he scowled slightly, his brows furrowing. Were they mad, talking as though there was nothing going on around them? They stood on the sands, at their own hatching, and yet they acted as amiably as though they were in the common room of the Weyrling barracks! He shot a glance back over at them, noting then a firelizard was now joining them. Firelizards were not permitted on the sands at a hatching! It really wasn't his concern, but their chatting and now the appearance of a creature who was not supposed to have been there at all irked him, somehow. Still, it was best to simply ignore such idiosyncrasies. It wasn't as if there were anything he could do about it, and if that silly little lizard got eaten, it was no skin off of his nose, so to speak. So it was his attention was diverted once more to the remainder of the eggs, his gaze remaining on them. Whatever there was left of them, surely if his dragon were in there, he'd Impress today. If not, then the fact that the nagging feeling of needing more time had been so prominent within him would have that time. Perhaps it was for the best, and really he could have gone either way with it. It was not important to him, and therefore either way would be fine. It all came down to 'is my dragon here or no'
Admin's Note:
for him. xXx It is often when one is looking elsewhere and not paying attention where they ought to be, that events occur. Usually, these occur when least expected. It was true that Yori had her hopes high for a fighting dragon, but any would have done. For it was in admiration that she watched each of the dragons hatch, and with unbiased feelings towards them that she watched each as it moved about on the sands, finding their respective bonds. It was when she chose to glance in the direction of the blue, and watched again the awesomeness of Impression, that she heard the voice in her head. Yorisa, please help me get this OFF ME! His voice was really indignant. My name is Erosth. I am hungry. Most people who heard voices in their heads who did not have a dragon were considered to be crazy. And yet, when you were on the sands for a hatching, that was the thing you hoped to hear most, more than anything else. That voice, though full of indignation, was rich and had a power to it that simply called 'dragon' to anyone who would hear it. It was somehow sultry and yet had a rich, medium tone to it that seemed to her somehow like the rolling of thunderclouds. It was perfect, and marvelous, and as she turned to face, for the first time, her very own dragon? There were the hints of tears in the corner of each of her eyes. The smoky, seal colored brown was one of the darkest she had seen, and yet his color was so breathtaking to her. She had admired him when he had hatched, but was not expecting him to be for her. For her. He had spoken her name, and they locked eyes, Impression occurring as surely for her as it had for the others before her, and would for the others after. It was an incomparable feeling. How true it was that you could not explain it fully to someone who had never experienced the like! It was as though, up until then, half of her was missing and only now was she being made complete. Only, for some reason, she could not imagine herself without Erosth, not even when her whole life up until this point had been without him. How could she not have realized something was missing? It didn't matter, though, as she ran to the dragon, taking a fist and smashing the side of the shell, removing it from the dragon's head carefully, and meeting his gaze once more. "Erosth..." she whispered, and felt, rather than saw, the brown smile. That is correct. Your Erosth is hungry, so shall we? The food, I believe, is that way, That voice was just too unbelievably mature to be coming from a just hatched dragon, and her wonderment at him increased. He sounded so grown up, though she was sure he was not, and would have much growing to do. She nodded mutely, and then, curious: Erosth? The brown eyed her patiently, and then, Yes, Yorisamine? She shook her head, a smile on her lips, and then, Nothing, I'm sorry. I just wanted to see if it worked. Let's get you fed, she said assuredly, and then led him to the food. He shook his head, comically. Silly mine. Did you expect it would not? You are mine, and I am yours. It works. Yorisa nodded, but by then they were at the food, and she began to feed her mind-mate for what was the first of many times to come. Weyrling lessons would bring new hardships and teach her the responsibility of caring for her precious brown, Erosth. Yet this was the first step of it, and she could not wait. She, Yorisa, was a Weyrling. Yorisa of brown Erosth. It had a very nice ring to it.

Clapping Bicran grinned as the candidates around him impressed. If there was something he loved more than Gathers, it was Hatchings. With the joy…the action, his eyes looked to the girl that was bowled over. Sighing he was glad it wasn’t too serious, as his eyes found themselves drawn to the new partners. Black, Green, the striped Blue, dark Green… He nodded, hands nervously twitching his robes. The icy Blue…no she be female, so the orange or smoky Browns… Admin's Note:
He wondered, grinning as yet another poor lad was bowled over. But before he had the chance to clap his eyes were drawn to the hatchling heading in their directing.
Ignoring the mummers of the crowd, there was no doubt in his mind that she was female. With her delicate, confident grace. Oh what a… Suddenly as she stopped before him his eyes widened.
B'cran, dear mine. My hunger is great. Please feed me. I am Aryth. Her rainbow eyes looked imploringly up at the lad.
“Aryth…” He breathed crouching down before her, his face expressing his wonder, surprise and love. His mind lost into the whirling rainbow of her eyes. “What a’beauty you are…” B’cran whispered, reaching out to gently caress her eye ridges. With a soft croon, the crystal-like Blue leant into his touch, impression was made. Why me? He asked her softly, his expression tender.
Because your mine, She answered simply, looking up at him. Can you please feed me now? Finding his feet, Bicran nodded. Sorry little one, please follow me, He smiled, his hand brushing against her soft hide. She was like a piece of precious stone, his precious… But I’m not a stone…I am hungry though. A feminine voice told him. I know love…we’re nearly there. He reassured her, his pace matching her delicate glide.
When they reached the food tables, B’cran took a meat filled bucket and crouched before Aryth. Pausing only to thank the Weyrling Master. Now love remember t’… But before he knew it the first couple of pieces of meat disappeared without a single bite. Not so fast love…there be enough meat if you want more, He pointed out, finding it hard to be stern with the hatchling. As she offered him a understanding nod, he offered her, her next piece. Now chew m’beauty... Watching her carefully he smiled as she did so, his hand dipping into the bucket for another. Then another and another…
………
S’en
In the stands S’en, the WeyrHarper and his son all applauded the new arrivals. But as his dear friend impressed, the brown rider’s eyes followed…B’cran, and his little blue. Both amazed and glad that, he was her partner! Grinning, S’en look forward to the chance to congratulate the pair. But for now they were too immersed in the moving of meat from bucket to expectant mouth, chewing and grabbing more. Chuckling his eyes slowly drifted to the last of the eggs, hatchlings and candidates on the sands.
…
Harper Klivin
Biting back a laugh the Weyr Harper noted his son was so close to the edge of his seat that he was close to falling. This had been one exciting hatching so far, so he couldn’t blame the lad. His eyes picking out familiar faces amongst the Candidates and the crowed. He hands and mind twitching, wondering if this…the wonder of the hatching, could ever be expressed in a song. Shaking his head slightly the Harper admitted it would be impossible to catch the feeling of spectators, the emotions the Candidates must go through. The encouragement of the dragons, or the infant like majesty…if not the sometimes comical, actions of the new hatchings. With a another round of applause he smiled down at the new pairing. Honoured to be in a Weyr at such a time. His hands and voice ready to honour the Weyr, the dragons, the new Weyrlings and hatchlings. With my helpers of course, He added smiling to his son, wondering if Anassa would possibly join them. I’ll ask her later…I’m sure I’ll have enough time. The Harper added to himself ruffling Fin’s hair. Glancing back, the boy flashed a grin before looking to new dark blue hatching. Chuckling softly, their applause joined the crowds as the hatchling selected his new bonded.
…
Klinorfin “Fin”
Looking to the sands, the young boy look to his friend Kalaht, to the hatchlings to the eggs. He didn’t run that day, but I’m sure there’s one for him. He nodded, thinking back to the time he’d first met the other boy. His mind racing, trying to work out how many eggs were left…who’d impressed, which hatchlings hadn’t impressed. Blinking his eyes he admitted he couldn’t do it. But I’m sure there’s enough for them all…there has to be! The young lad nodded, his curls bouncing as he included all the other candidates. His fingers drumming an excited beat on his lap.

Kaith was proud of her babies. She crooned a welcome to each of them, and encouraged them all to find their chosens. When a flitter came onto the sands near her babies, she let out a snarl and snapped at him, giving an order for him to get into the tiers or leave the sands. No flitter was allowed to be on the sands. The large egg that had caused so much speculation seemed to be shivering more violently now. Large cracks ran around its surface until the pieces finally fell away in large chunks. As the chunks fell away, it revealed a strange sight. The egg was so large because it contained not one, but two dragons. Both dragons were curled and twined together. It was hard to tell where one left off and the other began, but one thing was certain. There was a flash of silver, and a flash of gold, and a flash of both. The pair untwined themselves from each other and the astonished crowd could see that one was a silver, and one was a gold. The egg held not one, but two Queens. The first one to Impress would take the place of the missing Junior Weyrwoman. The silver was the first to move. She would be scatter brained and flighty in her youth, very much the little girl, but as she matured, she would become more steady, stately, and thoughtful. She would easily bow to Kaith's leadership, or that of an older Queen in charge. However, she would always back up the orders of her superior Queens but she would take charge if necessary. She would grow to be a slender, more agile version of her sister. Her wings and limbs were long and lithe. She wouldn't have quite the stamina of her sister, but she would grow to be the size of a small gold or large bronze. Her hide was a pale, bright silver with golden streaks across it. Her gold sister would be almost the opposite. She would be tempestuous, hot-headed and a handful. While her sister was sweetly scatterbrained as a youngster, she'd be a handful of energy, impulse, and temper. She'd be imperious, and chafe against orders. Once she grew older, she'd settle a bit, but she would always have a hint of temper problem. She would always be a little resentful of the older Queens simply because she was a Queen too. Once she settled down, she would be great helping keep the injured dragons calm, though her sister would always be more of a calming force. She would be one to take over the wing while her sister was handling the injured dragons and her mother was dealing with other things during Threadfall. She would be talkative and loving to those she likes but Faranth help the people who cross her. "Heaven hath no fury like a woman scorned" would be an apt Terran phrase for her. She would be larger than her sister by a few dragonlengths, about medium for a gold. Her frame would be thicker, and less agile than her sister, but she would have the stamina of the larger golds. Her hide was a gold that was darker than her mother's but like her sister's gold streaks, she had pale whitish silver streaks along her hide.

Kalaht was still hopeful. His friend S'nic Impressed and he smiled, warmly at him. He was happy for him as well. His eyes moved from S'nic's dragon to the eggs on the Sands, staring intently. Determined, confident and willful. He stood on the Sands, almost like a Soldier. Straight faced, he put his arms behind his back at an 'at ease' position as he waiting. He sighed. This time, it wasn't of depression, it wasn't of frustration but of impatience. He was tired of waiting but he had to stay.
There was a life to consider, his dragon's. There was a lot of emotions he was coping with. Coping with his brother's death and handling it like a man. He was filled with mixed emotions. He tried to sift out the bad feelings from the good but what he had was a ball of mixed emotions that he didn't really understand. He quit analyzing his feelings and started to live in the moment.
One. He was free. Free to do as he wished, without being watched be a hawk.
Two. He had defense lessons before he came. Before his brother was killed, he taught him how to defend himself against unarmed attacks. Now, all he had to do was find someone to teach him how to defend against armed attacks and ambushes.
Three. He was brave and courageous. He had survived through the toughest part of life, the death of a sibling. Now, he had shed new light as to why he wanted to become a dragonrider. To stop those who kill, to stop those who betray and to make sure the innocent didn't suffer as he did. To protect those who couldn't protect themselves.
This new feeling of finally knowing why he wanted to become a dragonrider enveloped him. He embraced this new sensation like a dear friend. He closed his eyes and tried to envision his dragon being there. What color would my dragon partner be? When it be time to take the journey into Weyrlinghood?
These questions and more were left momentarily unanswered. If there -was- a dragon out there for him, he wondered what traits they would have. Would his partner be more protective over him than the rest? Would they be like him, a Soldier with an appearance of being emotionless? Fearless? or maybe a duty oriented partner? Either way, he would love his dragon. Only time would answer those questions. The waiting was unbearable for him. In silence, he waited for the moment to arise for his partner to find him.

When Naret moved closer to the others, Faine lifted her hand at waggled her fingers at the boy. She was rather fond of him – on the first day of candidate lessons, she had been stuck doing the third lap and the kindred boy joined her. It was rather nice, it made her feel less of a freak. The redhead turned away just in time to see the brown Impress…to a female! “Another female brownrider.” Faine murmured with a smile, clapping along with the rest. She didn’t know Yorisa but had seen enough of the girl at the candidate lesson to know that her personality seemed quite suited for a brown.
Faine liked the way Catilena explained her view on hatchings, the girl agreed to a lot of it. She too enjoyed watching candidates go to Weyrlings, with expressions of shock and joy when their dragons first talked to them. She was curious as to what it was like, having another presence in your head. Probably odd for the first bit but you’d get used to it eventually. She blinked, slightly startled when a brown firelizard appeared between them. “Oh, he’s lovely…but are flitts allowed on the sands?” She blinked, staring at the tiny critter. A few moments later Kaith would snap at the firelizard, making it clear that they were indeed not allowed.
Another blue Impressed, this one an interesting shade – sort of blue, black and a tinge of green all mixed together. He looked quite regal, to be honest. Faine once again clapped and caught a glance of Iechi scowling at her and Catilena. She had the feeling that the boy wasn’t too fond of them, especially since they had asked if he was sick that one day. Still though, she flashed a quick smile at him before taking a minute to look around to see who was left. She didn’t know Kalaht at all really but the boy looked almost unsure of himself so Faine smiled at him also, maybe it would be comforting? Who knew.
When the large gold and silver egg broke and revealed two dragons curled up together, everyone was murmuring. No one had seen a silver dragon before but it was in the same egg as a gold which gave it an equal ranking. There would be a new Junior Weyrwoman decided today! As if the hatching wasn’t exciting enough already. The silver seemed smaller than the gold, almost daintier – the gold, on the other hand, had almost a diva-like aura around her. These two dragons would be interesting, that was for sure.
Faine’s mouth was open slightly as she stared at the two dragons. “Look at them, Catilena.” Faine breathed, not knowing exactly quite to say.
Ooc|| KINO. Hope you don’t mind that I assumed Faine would run three laps and Naret joined her:cIcanchangeitifwanted~

Andilay was more than happy to clap for the newly impressed. A smile pulling her lips when a brown dragon went to a female candidate. She would be the third female brownrider of Dark Moon. Rayn, her SS, being the second. She felt a small welling of pride at her friend. Though they had not seen each other often in the past month or so, she was still, well, her best friend. And probably always would be.
How many eggs to go? Curious, Andilay counted. One, two, three... There had been twelve eggs, if she remembered correctly, when she had counted at the touching. As long as her memory served her... that meant there were four... wait, three, eggs to still hatch. Three because the gold and silver swirl egg had hatched.
Sure, she knew you couldn't always go off of the pattern of the egg in order to judge what was inside. But once the sell broke away, there they were, two beauties. Two queen beauties to be exact. One a silver with lovely streaks of gold. She seemed... childish. Hyper, and excited. That one would be a handful for sure.
The second, golden. She had a darker hide than Kaith... as well as the other queen hatchling Andilay had seen. Of course, she was much different with her streaks of silver. But her bearing? All golden queen. Even from where she stood she knew that the golden sister would be a mighty force to be reckoned with. Stubborn. Andilay suddenly got the deepest urge to tease whoever impressed her. She didn't know why... perhaps to see some temper from the queen. But such was her feeling that it left her puzzled.
She wondered if the two queens would be close? After all, they had shared an egg... and both seemed well and whole. She understood that sometimes there were complications with twin dragons. She was glad to see this wasn't so with the queens.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Blissy was happy for each healthy dragon to pop out of an egg. Each one a new blessing on her big brother's new... leadership of the weyr.
But you know the whole thing about being in a crowd and feeling lonely? She was feeling that. So she sidled up to the one other candidate she had.. kinda gotten to know since she had transferred. The other she might have gone too had impressed... to the light blue female. She thought they made a good pair. B'cran was a sweet soul.
She brushed the male candidates shoulder with her fingertips. He was a big fella. Much taller than herself, and had quite a few scars on 'im, she thought he always carried himself with care. He seemed afraid to scare people, or perhaps, knew he did and was self conscious of it. But to Blissy, he was just another candidate, perhaps with some shadows strewn about the edges of his heart of gold.
"Hello Kegin. Excited? I know I am.... Dragon babies! I think if I got mauled I'd thank the dragon for the permanent reminder of this day. Silly and... well, kinda morbid as it may seem, thats just how I feel." She shrugged, smiled and stuck a tongue out through her teeth. She was being silly, the giddiness of the hatching getting to her.
And that was BEFORE the queens hatched.
After, well, there was a moment where her breath... was stolen from her in awe. Once she managed to draw in breath all she could say was, "Just look at them!"
They were magnificent! Plus, she was so proud, her brother's first clutch as Weyrleader had not one, but two queens?! Admin's Note:
Somewhere inside her a squeal of mass proportions wanted to break free and let loose. But she knew if she did, not only would she get startled and odd looks, she might startle the dragon babies. And if she did that, well, she'd never forgive herself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rayn sat watching the hatching, she was enthralled by each impression, remembering her own. She smiled as yet another female brownrider joined the ranks. She'd probably like her, if she impressed a brown, their temperaments would probably mesh well.... as well with Andilay's.
Rayn watched the green's impress, fairly sure that their temperament would not fit her friend. In fact, she was rather anxious. She had always looked up to Andy... what if she impressed a dragon of lower rank than she? She shuddered at even the POSSIBILITY of giving the other swordswoman orders. Andilay was far more... imposing when doing a job. Her attitude from play to work were like night and day....
So wrapped up in her thoughts, she didn't even notice when the queens hatched.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two queens mine. TWO. My bright Kaith is such a wonderful creature to mother such wonderful daughters.
They... they have... silver? By now, R'khol just sat with his attention trained on each new hatchling. The colors were so... different than the usual colors of Ista... not to mention some of the pairings! His new weyr was a wonder.
And then there was Blissy. He placed a hand on his face, looking between his fingers at his younger sister on the sands. Was she talking to a boy candidate? He shook his head. His sister, here, at his first clutch. Somehow, the very reality of it didn't surprise him. It was something she would do, because, perhaps, she had a bit of a brother complex. He loved his sister, too. After all, he would always be a big brother. And he would always feel bad about the scar he had brought about. But she had never blamed him. Never hated.
He wondered what she would impress.
Right on the heels of the twin queens, the marroon and blue streaked egg split open, sending shards everywhere. Its occupant stepped out quickly, with energy that was driven by both personality and need. She was a little impulsive and outrageously flirtatious at times, but her rider's steadiness would temper that. She'd be an energetic, over protective, and a veritable mother hen. She'd be sweet, but she'd have a stubbornness to rival her rider's. Her hide was a minty green that had some different sized flecks of a lighter green that paled her hide. The underside of her belly was darker than the mottled green of her hide. She was large but agile and lean from her energetic nature. Blissy! Those other dragons cannot have you. They won't love you like I will. Your Jespeth is hungry and will you please feed me?OOC: 44D144
The silver was quite annoyed that her sister had hatched and Impressed before she did. Good thing she hadn't gone for her own chosen! She rushed off towards the girl, and knocked down an NPC Candidate that was standing in front of Kalaht. He had stepped forward to move away from the golden twin who was walking around behind him. Her hind claws caught his leg and drew blood deeply. She squealed as she nearly lost her balance.
Andilay! I am Veritath. That silly green thought that I wanted her chosen, but you are far better than she was. I am hungry. The rainbow of her eyes were brilliant against the bright silver and gold streaked brilliance of her hide.
Nobody could deny that the green that had hatched was a sweet looking thing. She looked adorable with her light green clashing (In a nice way) against the dark, forest green. The green didn’t seem to hesitate either, soon as it was out of the egg she was rushing to her bonded. Faine barely got a chance to admire her!
Within seconds, Blissy had her green dragon and Faine was happily clapping with everyone else. “Oh, Catilena, look! The silver is moving.” Faine whispered, the excitement quite obvious in her voice. All eyes were on the little silver now as she seemed to shoot forward to find her bonded. Faine flinched visibly when a poor boy was knocked down, his leg being cut open rather deeply as he fell. He seemed okay though, standing a few seconds later looking just a bit worse for wear.
Then again, no one really paid attention to him standing. The Silver had Impressed, her eyes whirling with rainbows. “Andilay.” Faine gasped. Andilay would be the new Junior Weyrwoman and not only that but a Junior Weyrwoman with a Silver dragon! Faine immediately burst into applause. She was so happy to see that Andilay had Impressed! She was quite a nice person and it was nice to know that the girl wouldn’t have to become a candidate for the third time. “Congratulations!” She mouthed to the girl, not knowing whether or not she would see it.
When the bright metallic hide emerged from the one before last egg, the maroon and pink spotted egg, a few people gasped, thinking it was another Queen. However, this was not so. The dragon that emerged from this shell must have been cramped in the small egg, for he appeared far too large to have fit. He rolled out of the egg, getting sand all over his shining damp body. As his hide began to dry, people could see that he was a copper. He was the first male copper that anyone in the weyr had ever seen. He would soon grow much larger than his current size suggested. He would be larger than his sister, one of the largest coppers ever seen in the weyr. His hide was a darker copper without the rose tint that the copper from the previous hurricane hatching. There was a lighter patch on his face that spread from his muzzle to his forehead that looked like the armored face shields that were put on Terran horses to protect them during that planet's medieval period. His wings were the same lighter color with some darker spots towards the top of the wings. His body was nowhere near uniform in color. There were darker streaks across his body, running from his chest to his forked tail. He has a very broad chest and his body is a good deal thicker than his female siblings. The membrane is a little thicker, especially around the edges of the sails. This will help him with his powerful down strokes to raise his powerful body off the ground. He would be a very noble dragon with a nice, deep voice that he can hum with to accompany his chosen's beloved pasttime. He would be a hard worker, steady but with just a hint of arrogance and temper to keep him from being too staid. He would be outspoken to his rider's reserved state, and just a bit impulsive to his rider's practical nature. He would be a very masculine dragon, though he would have a soft spot for things that are pretty.
The gold Queen snorted somewhat huffily at the fact that her sister had stolen a very promising girl. She had no clue that it meant her sister was now the Junior Queen. She would never really care about that. It would just rankle for a short while that her sister had chosen before her.
She lifted her silver marked wings and continued picking her way over to the girls who were standing there. Catilena, Orena, and Faine all received thorough stares as the baby gold pondered over her choice.
Finally, she turned back to the one she had chosen. She would need some work, but she would do. Yes. She would do nicely. The young gold had known who was hers to begin with, but it wouldn't have hurt to look again to make sure, so she had. Now she knew she had made the right choice.
Faine, my sister shouldn't have chosen first, but she would have been in trouble if she had chosen you. I am Colvarinth and you need to feed me now.
Kalaht had his spirits lifted by watching those Impress. Would he be next? He uncharacteristically jumped up and down and clapped his hands. He squealed with excitement and giggled once Andilay Impressed. He waved to her and flashed her a smile that could light up Pern itself and marvelous Blissy! Oh, what a beautiful partner she had and what a beaut that Andilay had!
He went up to do two. "Con-Congratulations!" he smiled. He still had a small stutter but it wasn't as bad as when he first tried to say something. He was feeling more confident just with the knowledge that he was a Candidate. He was proud of it and it showed. He could say he was happy for the others. Who was next? Perhaps him? That would be nice.
The sheer explosiveness that hatched out the minty green was more than enough to get Blissy's attention. She liked the new green's hide. So light and feminine. Her darker belly giving her just a touch of toughness. She was quite energetic, and she practically ran over toward her and the other candidates.
Blissy! Those other dragons cannot have you. They won't love you like I will. Your Jespeth is hungry and will you please feed me?
One moment. Just one. And then Blissy was gathering the wedge shaped head toward her, pretend nibbling the ridge above her dragons eye. Never! I think I'll eat you instead, because you are SOOOOOO cute!! She gave the slightly surprised dragon a lick over the area she had nibbled. Just kidding! I would never do such a thing to MY dragon. C'mon, sweet. Lets get some food in that empty belly of yours!
The surprised green was still for a moment, then wound around her mine, once, much like a feline would with pressing her sides against Blissy's legs. Oh, Mine! You so got me! Yes lets!! Foodfood fooooood, is good for the moooood...
The copper that had revealed itself was a very handsome dragon, nobody would deny that one. He was a gorgeous shade and while look similar to the female copper out there, looked nothing like her at the same time. For a moment there, he had the attention of everyone attending the hatching. However, attention was split up once again as people tried to see which dragon was going to go where. Faine’s eyes drifted away from the copper and watched as the gold made her way to the female candidates.
Faine didn’t know why she was so surprised; golds always picked females so she wasn’t sure why she thought for a moment there that the gold would go run over to the male’s side. Her green eyes were wide as the dragon eyed Catilena, then Orena and then her. It was so nerve-wracking, having a dragon just stare at you.
Faine, my sister shouldn't have chosen first, but she would have been in trouble if she had chosen you. I am Colvarinth and you need to feed me now.
Before Faine had wondered what it would be like to have a dragon in your mind, but as she stared at the rainbow eyes that, in turn, were staring up at her? She no longer had to wonder. It was such an…odd but wonderful feeling! It was like the dragon was filling up a part of your mind that you didn’t even know was empty! Faine’s mouth opened and closed for a second, she wasn’t sure what to say. It was all building inside of her, all bubbling up and then the next thing she knew – word vomit. “I’m so sorry I licked your egg!” The redhead gasped, her voice thick as she apologized to the gold in front of her. “I’m so sorry Colvarinth!”
Colvarinth’s tail whipped impatiently behind her, We will talk about it later. Right now, I want to be fed.
“Yes! Of course!” Faine almost stammered, grasping Catilena’s wrist for a second and giving it a quick squeeze before turning and leading the gold towards the rest of the newly Impressed dragons. She was moving rather slowly, still in a bit of shock from what had happened. However she sped up when Colvarinth paused in front of the redhead and gave a somewhat annoyed look that clearly said ‘Hurry up!’.
