After the hatching and the feast Kegin was a bit sad. True he had a full stomach but he still felt empty. It wasn't really his stomach that was empty but he felt like his life was. Kegin walked to the lake, wanting to think about the past event of the hatching. Why did the others impress and he didn't? Kegin wasn't jealous but after getting so worked up and thinking he would impress, only not to, would bring anyone down. He thought of the new Weyrlings. Each had something that was added to them by their dragon. Kegin understood that. Maybe the dragon that would add something to him was not yet ready to show him. True there was next time. But then how many more times will he wait. Kegin made it to the lake and decided to lay on the sands and look at the sky. He enjoyed the lake. It was rather peaceful even with dragons splashing around. In no time Kegin began to relax again. A smile came to his face.
"What can you do if you don't impress other then relax and enjoy the time as a candidate." he said to himself. It was true that you worked hard as a candidate but once you impress things would be much more difficult. He would grin and bear it. Kegin loved being at the weyr. At first he didn't. He was terrified of dragons. He stayed in the Lower Caverns as much as possible. He would always think they would step on him.
Being around them now Kegin couldn't help but laugh at his childish fears. He smiled and closed his eyes. Times have been good since coming here. He has seen many amazing things. Many creatures like the Silver Dragon that just hatched. He had never seen that. What else would come? "Maybe next time. I can wait till then." he said. Then a thought occurred to him. Last time he layed on the sands of the lake someone jumped on him. He kind of hoped it wouldn't happen again. Or if it did he hoped it would be better then last time. He was tired of being seen as scary.

There was a new female in the weyr. Sh'vian. Being a new transfer, she had never had a real relationship. She had seen the man before but had been afraid to approach. Afraid of rejection. She was not the type to go up to a man she was attracted to and say hi. Diragyth was sleeping. She walked to a tree and peek around to watch Kegin with great interest.
Sh'vian had to get enough guts to approach. She has tried to approach males like this before with devastating results, for her. It always wound up the guys she was interested was interested in someone else. It wasn't because she was ugly, she was not. Just bad luck. Sh'vian had sensed that he needed someone. She heaved a great sigh and approached. "Hello." She tensed as she was unsure of what this young man had in store. A real need to relax is what this woman was after. She was hoping she made the right choice. Sh'vian was raised to believe that males had control what females did. The males were harsh on their females. It was a of life. If she had an interest in a male, she had to make contact.
Sh'vian had never approached a man before for an interest, they always approached her. This was the first for her. She was nervous but she had to go to him. The words he said let her know that he was one of the few that didn't Impress. By the looks of things, he could really use some company.

Kegin was nice and relaxed when he felt like he was being watched. Maybe it was another newly impressed wanting to say maybe next time. He didn't recognize the voice but by the tone and pitch it was a female, and nervous at that. Kegin didn't open his eyes. He lifted his hand and waved a bit. He just needed to relax and everything would be fine with him. He was breathing easy, the sun felt great, and it was rather cool. If anything he might fall asleep. A slight grin came to the thought.
Kegin waited to see if the girl would approach. His arm lowered back behind his head and he relaxed quite a bit more. It seemed people coming to talk to him was getting easier. Who knew what might happen in the future. Kegin couldn't help but let out a yawn and rolled onto his side. He listened to the footsteps on the sand and remembered it was sand. There wouldn't be any foot steps really. Then the only thing he could wait for is to see if the person was clumsy or not.

Sh'vian breathed a sigh of relieved when Kegin waved at her. She even relaxed a bit while approaching him. She had no need to be nervous, not really. He was just a man, a man that she liked. It was no big deal, really. Just go up to to him and say she interested. Her boots moved the sand while going to Kegin.
Sh'vian thought that as a greenrider she had no place in any man's heart. She was always busy but if she knew how to relax maybe she would consider friendship. She was always working, always on her feet. No time to relax, no time for relationships or friendships. She wanted to change that. She had discussed it with Diragyth and the green had agreed with her. Change would be good for Sh'vian.
"How are you, this beautiful day?" she asked. "I am Greenrider Sh'vian of Green Diragyth. May I?" She gestured next to him.

Kegin felt she was closer and listened to her. "Sure." he said. Kegin went back to his back and looked at the sky. He looked at her. "I am Kegin." he said. Kegin waited for her to join him and thought a moment. Why was she even here? And why was she talking to him?
Kegin didn't mind she was but he was still confused. He chuckled to himself and looked at Sh'vian again. "It is a beautiful day. Why is your name hyphenated?" he asked. He never knew a girl to have such a name. He kind of thought it was cute. But it was very unique.

Sh'vian laid down next to him, "All dragonriders must hyphenate their name once they Impress. Actually, it's the dragon that get to decide what your elided name is going to be. It is. Its a wonderful day. I-I've been watching you, Kegin and you have my interest. I like the way your so determined get something done. Sorry, about you not Impressing." She sighed. "Without the elided name, it's Shivian."
There she said it. She was opened herself up for a possible heartbreak or joy. Either way, Sh'vian would not back down from anything. She was determined and stubborn, just like her mother.
Sh'vian knew how to sing and very good at. She hummed a happy song. "I need to relax. I have so many things to do. I need a change, Kegin. I'm tired of being alone; I have been so busy with my life, I haven't been looking out others that need me. I have no friends, except Diragyth. I can't seem to enjoy the simple life. I have the day off today and its driving me nuts."
Sh'vian tried to talk to much but it her nerves. The realized that was the culprit of not having any friend is her rambling.

Kegin was surprised by her statement. He ended up sitting up too quick and got dizzy. Kegin held his head then looked at her once everything stopped spinning. "W-what? You are interested in me?" He looked around to see if someone was watching and laughing at him. "I don't mind not impressing. I just need to wait a little longer is all. And I thought only men get elided names. And why are you interested in me? Nobody get's interested in me. Am I being pranked?" He looked at the greenrider. She didn't seem like someone that would do it.
kegin thought a moment and looked at her. "I guess you can hang out with me for some time. I am just relaxing in the sun. I can see why dragons love doing such a thing." Kegin chuckled and looked around again. What should he do in this situation.

"No, no prank. I wouldn't do that. I am a far too honest female." She chuckled. "Well, look at you....you are handsome. Of course, if you don't want my interest I can always take it elsewhere." she sounded hurt. "It's not like I am going to kiss you. No, females get elided too." She did think about kissing him on the cheek but thought better of it. "I am not after you like that. I'm just interested in being your friend is all and I may have a teeny bit of a crush on you." She smiled at him.
"I apologize for being too forward. Relax? Me? I don't know the meaning of the word. I was always on run...always busy. I need a change. That's why I came to you. You look like a man who knows how to relax. I want time for friendship. My busy life at Telgar Weyr left me with no friends. I was a workaholic and that needs to change here. I don't want to be the same person I was back home. I came here to fill the ranks yes, but I also came here for to leave me busy life behind me. Don't ask me why I chose you over anyone else. I don't know why."
Sh'vian laid back down and already she was getting antsy. Her body wasn't used relaxing. She had been working all the time, non-stop and sometimes without sleep. Always uptight, always tense. Her muscles were twitching with frustration. He brain was telling her to quit being lazy and do something important. She ignored that feeling for now.

Kegin chuckled. He kind of felt glad she was like that. He took a breath and sighed. "Just close your eyes" he said. Kegin did just that and layed there. It was rather odd to be near a woman like this. He felt a breeze and enjoyed it. Relaxing was great and it was the first time in a while since he did such a thing.
Kegin didn't worry about impressing. He didn't mind the wait. All waited to impress so it didn't scare him. As far as names go he wasn't sure how his would be. Maybe K'gin or even Ke'in, or maybe it would even be K'in. There were many possibilities. kegin opened one eye and looked at the greenrider to see if she was relaxing.

Sh'vian mind wasn't used to laying down and relaxing. Her mind was always busy, filled with the important stuff to do today. This was -her- day off and she was going to enjoy it. She ignored her mind outright, laid down and closed her eyes. She sighed and breathed out. Sh'vian tried to ease her mind.
*There's nothing to do today.* She thought to herself. *Today is the day I take control of my life.* She added. She ignored the commands her brain was giving her body. She was going to relax and she was going to enjoy herself. She had to force herself to relax.

Kegin could just feel that her mind was racing. It made him anxious and not want to sit still. He wanted to relax yet she is disturbing that. Kegin stood and took of his tunic and trousers. he left his under shorts on and went into the water. He wadded around and began to ease a bit once more. Kegin began to float and sighed. It felt good to not worry.
Kegin smiled to himself and began to wonder what is going on right now. What will be happening later on? what classes will come out of not impressing? Alot of his own questions began to form. Kegin sighed and chuckled a bit. It didn't matter he was looking forward to it all.

Sh'vian sighed as she watched Kegin in the water. She shook head and turned on her side. She got up and walked towards the shore, a few feet away from Kegin. She waded in the water. For an instant, she thought that Kegin had it made. She smiled and let the thought slide from her mind. She chuckled.
She took a deep breath and submerged underwater and a moment later she emerged in the same place. She laid her head back in the water and sighed....the water felt good. It was working. She started to relax and was ignoring her busy mind.
Sh'vian felt her muscles relax. The water helped a lot. She smiled. Today was her day off and she wasn't going to do anything but do nothing.
